12 Dilemma

Gu Guangzhi didn't know what to say anymore. He had made up his mind in the beginning that he wouldn't become a demonic path gu master to survive but now he had to become a mule for human trafficking to avoid the death by Seize Gu. He knew that this was going to be a shady deal from the start but he couldn't come to terms with treating human lives as goods. He was from a modern society when he was back on Earth after all.

"You said that I needed to deliver mortal materials! Not actual humans! How can you treat their lives so cheaply?", Gu Guangzhi shot back.

"Hehehe! They are not cheap. You are too young to know about the world around you. Whether it be the living or the non-living, everything in this world can be used as gu materials. Don't you hunt wild beasts to feed your gu insects? Human lives are just the same for blood path gu masters. Luckily for us, blood path is seriously oppressed by the righteous path and hence the lives of these villagers become so precious. Do you think these villagers had freedom when they belonged to the Xiong clan? They are just resources for the clan. Now they will become resources for Mao Jian. Don't think too much about it.", the fire path gu master calmly explained.

Gu Guangzhi couldn't retort. He had left his life on Earth behind when he got transmigrated to the world of Reverend Insanity but he was still holding on his morals. But now if he didn't complete his part of the transaction, he would be killed by the Seize Gu. He had to abandon his ideals to survive in this world.

"The Xiong village will definitively have an overseeing gu master. Abducting an entire village will definitively alert them and make me the enemy of the entire Xiong clan. I can't fight them on my own. This is the same as a suicide mission." Gu Guangzhi tried to reason with the fire path gu master.

"That's alright. I have contacted a demonic path gu master and made him a similar offer. He is of Rank 2 peak strength and he will accompany you. You are a Rank 2 gu master now. You can take down the gu master overseeing the village by working together. Then you will transport all the villagers in a Green slug house Gu to the Gong Run mountain where you will meet Mao Jian. Once you make the delivery, just come back to Qing Mao mountain. We'll consider the job done. After a month or so, you can come back to join the Xiong clan."

Gu Guangzhi had no choice but to come to terms with the deal. He asked the fire path gu master for some time to get used to his Rank 2 strength and the fire path gu master gave him one month and left.

Gu Guangzhi retrieved his inheritance from the Bamboo culm Gu. He had a good set of Rank 2 gu worms as part of his inheritance. He had Rank 2 Bamboo sword Gu. It needed to be used every day as it had a special type of food. It needed practice as food. As he continued to practice with it, the Bamboo sword Gu would become stronger over time. Sword path was one of the strongest paths in the current era. So he had a good attack type gu insect. For defense, he had a Rank 2 Bamboo cage Gu. It could be used for both defense as well as restricting an opponent. It needed large amount of fertile soil as its food.

Lastly, he had a Rank 2 Bamboo spring Gu which was a movement type Gu. It required very little primeval essence usage like his Bamboo cane Gu. It would be destroyed after its durability was completely used up. However, if it was not destroyed it could repaired using primeval essence. Even if it was destroyed, he had the gu recipes for them.

With his D grade aptitude, he could use his Bamboo sword Gu for eight times at full power or Bamboo cage Gu for 5 times. It was still ideal for him to use his Rank 1 gu insects for a prolonged battle.

As weeks passed by, Gu Guangzhi became familiar with his new gu insects. He stopped using primeval stones for cultivation as he was running very low on reserves. He completely depended on his natural regeneration of primeval essence. He could feel the drastic reduction in speed.

Till now, he didn't need much primeval essence for battling the wild beasts. The Bamboo cane Gu, Bamboo twine Gu and Bamboo cable Gu required very little primeval essence for usage. He used Beast skin Gu rarely as he employed hit and run tactics or played a passive role while his water wolf took the lead in attacking. He used Pronghorn beetle Gu regularly to maintain high speed but its effects lasted for 45 minutes so he didn't feel the burden of using it. But now, in order to fight other Rank 2 gu masters, he had to use Rank 2 gu insects.

He also tried to gather some information about the village and the mountain he was supposed to take them to from wandering hunters in the mountains. He felt sorry for them that they would be killed soon. As the one month deadline came to an end, the fire path gu master sent a Letter Gu asking him to come to the outskirts of the village that they were supposed to attack at nightfall. The demonic path gu master would meet him there.

Gu Guangzhi covered himself with a dark robe and covered up his face with a mask to conceal his identity. He asked the water wolf to stay back as he couldn't put its life in danger as well. The water wolf whined but he set off on his own to the village to meet his partner in crime. The Letter Gu was used as a token of identification. The demonic gu master looked really tall and muscular. He too concealed his identity.

The overseeing gu master was not nearby at the moment. They quickly snuck into the village and knocked down the mortal sentry guards. They already had detailed information about the mechanisms used by the village to call for help, so they disabled them first.

As Gu Guangzhi was knocking out one of the villagers in a house, a little girl woke up from her sleep and looked at Gu Guangzhi in shock. She reminded Gu Guangzhi of the little girl that gave him a fruit when he was expelled from the village. As the little girl was about to scream, he made up his mind and knocked her out as well.

"I can't hesitate now! My life is on the line!"
