2 Preparations for the Awakening Ceremony

Chi Yan stared at his new red-haired grandfather in surprise. It appeared that he actually had the Blazing Glory Lightning Brilliance Physique in this world! Thought that would certainly explain his exceptional appearance.

Upon seeing his grandson's shocked expression, Gu Yue Chi Lian looked slightly confused. He cleared his throat and asked, "Grandson, is something the matter?"

"Ah. It's nothing…" Chi Yan muttered.

"Mhm. Do you have any questions before tomorrow?" Gu Yue Chi Lian then asked.

Chi Yan was slightly taken aback as he did indeed have many questions. He, in fact, had so many questions that he wasn't sure what to say to not sound weird. After pondering for several seconds, he said, "Em, grandpa, can you tell me again in detail how I will fake my aptitude?"

Chi Lian looked at his grandson for a moment, feeling a little confused, before he gently nodded his head. 'Chi Yan grasped the method perfectly. He must be simply nervous and wants to go through it to relax.'

"Alright. Before the ceremony I will apply a special mixture on your body to attract Hope Gu to you. As for what you'll do…" Chi Lian gave a short explanation.

Apparently, apart from the mixture applied to his body, Chi Yan had to use two different Gu worms during the Awakening Ceremony to fake his aptitude. The first one would suck in Hope Gu into him, while the other would lock his primeval sea at a certain level during the Academy Elder's inspection.

"Now, activate the Gu like I taught you," Chi Lian then said.

Chi Yan looked at Chi Lian speechlessly.

Feeling desperate, Chi Yan closed his eyes and looked into himself, into his stomach. He quickly felt that there was a mysterious space concealed within him, feeling it vaguely.

He then sent his consciousness inside and started exploring it.

Time slowly passed. One minute passed.

"Grandson, is something wrong?" Gu Yue Chi Lian asked, seeing that Chi Yan struggled with activating his Gu.

Chi Yan looked at Gu Yue Chi Lian with pursed lips.

'Damn, I just found out that I'm in the Gu world and that I have an Aperture. How could I be proficient at using this method already? Which Gu worm does what?' Chi Yan secretly thought.

"It's…" Chi Yan struggled for a while in his heart. He could attempt to pour in his 'inner energy' into a random Gu and perhaps he would produce some kind of result. However, going forward there would just be too many things that would reveal his lack of memories.

Given Gu Yue Chi Lian's affectionate attitude, Chi Yan had made up his mind. He said, "Grandfather, I had a strange dream. In that dream I saw the village and the outside world, But then when I woke up, I…"

A brief silence descended as Chi Yan cut his words short.

Gu Yue Chi Lian wrinkled his eyebrows. Just what is Chi Yan on about?

He knew his grandson well. Chi Yan has a fiery temper, but he's still quite sensible; he wouldn't normally talk about nonsense like this or be scared of a nightmare.

"Yes?" Gu Yue Chi Lian finally asked.

"I can't recall mom's face… Or dad's," Chi Yan then said, lowering his head down.

"Huh, what?" Chi Lian asked confusedly.

Looking at Gu Yue Chi Lian with pleading eyes, Chi Yan said, "Grandfather, after I woke up recently I feel like I cannot recall many things, as if my memories are blocked. I remember my name and remember that you're my grandfather. I also remember that we're in the Gu Yue village. I remember general things, but I feel like I forgot many details. My memory feels vague."

The room fell into silence.

"Grandfather, I'm scared…" Chi Yan muttered.

Gu Yue Chi Lian looked at his grandson for a while, his expression filling with worry and shock. "Grandson, it isn't a joke, is it?"

"No," Chi Yan said gravely.

Gu Yue Chi Lian thought for a moment and asked, "What do you remember?"

"Uhh, I don't know. I know that we're a family of people who fight using Gu worms…" Chi Yan said, unsure of what he should remember or not.

"..." Gu Yue Chi Lian frowned, that wasn't much. "Grandson, do you remember…"

Gu Yue Chi Lian then proceeded to ask Chi Yan about various events from his life like certain parties, gifts that Chi Yan received and the like. Unfortunately, Chi Yan wasn't able to answer any of them, appearing quite nervous.

Worry was apparent on Gu Yue Chi Lian's face. He asked, "Then what else do you remember?"

"I don't know. There is a white haired person in the other village, right?" Chi Yan said. He wished he could ask about Fang Yuan, but he wasn't sure if Fang Yuan existed in this world, since *he* was here in the Gu Yue village as well. If he mentioned 'a kid reciting poetry' and that kid didn't exist, then Chi Lian might have some suspicions.

"White haired person? You're talking about Bai Ning Bing?" Chi Lian said.

"Bai Ning Bing?…" Chi Yan parroted, raising his eyebrows.

Meanwhile Gu Yue Chi Lian looked deeply into Chi Yan's lightning eyes, thinking, 'He's genuinely surprised when I used the name Bai Ning Bing as if he heard it somewhere, but he wasn't sure…'

Gu Yue Chi Lian asked a few questions which included a question about Gu Yue Chi Shan, and Chi Yan tried to play along, being very vague with what he remembered.

To Chi Yan's luck, Gu Yue Chi Lian seemed to have bought the notion that his memory was vague, which wasn't entirely false as with the novel memory his knowledge of the Gu Yue village was indeed very vague!

What Chi Yan was scared of was that he would be thought of as being soul-possessed. However, he still decided to say that he had his memory blocked. Fortunately, he did know some things from the novel, so he could play along with Chi Lian.

In the end, Gu Yue Chi Lian only appeared concerned and worried for Chi Yan, and didn't doubt that he wasn't his grandson. What a great convenient grandpa!

'Damn it! Did another disaster have to strike our Chi family? Not only did my son die young and then my only grandson turned out to have extreme aptitude, destined to have a short life, but now he even lost his memories…' Gu Yue Chi Lian thought, feeling extreme sadness in his heart.

After Chi Yan naturally awakened his aperture recently and it had the volume of 100%, Gu Yue Chi Lian managed to gain access to the clan's secret records and found out about the secret of the Extreme Aptitudes, their strengths and their weakness, and he also read about the Ancient Sects in the Central Continent. He then tested things out and concluded that among the ten Chi Yan had the Blazing Glory Lightning Brilliance Extreme Physique.

"Since you don't remember how to use Gu, then I'll teach you. It's important that you don't show a 100% aptitude tomorrow, " Chi Lian said, regaining some of his composure.

Following that, Gu Yue Chi Lian instructed Chi Yan on how to use the two Gu worms inside his aperture that would fake his aptitude, doing it deep into the night.

However, it didn't take long for Chi Yan to grasp the methods and Gu Yue Chi Lian also seemed satisfied with his progress and praised him.

Although using Gu worms was a very new feeling, activating them came to him naturally as if the Gu were the extension of his body, new organs that he only needed to get used to using. 

Using Gu was very intuitive to him and Chi Yan couldn't help but attribute it to his extreme physique.

Following that, Chi Yan was escorted back to his room. For a long time, Chi Yan pondered about the future and thought about many things. At one point he fell asleep.

While Chi Yan was firmly asleep, he was woken up by knocking sounds and the voice of his maid.

The morning of the next day arrived.

After making the necessary preparations, Chi Yan eventually went out of the Chi mansion to participate in the Awakening Ceremony half an hour before dawn.

Soon he would finally find out: Is there Gu Yue Fang Yuan in this world? And if there is, did he rebirth or not?

And if Fang Yuan did rebirth, then just what does Fang Yuan know about Chi Yan of this world? Does he know that he has an extreme physique?

Chi Yan had many questions and was uncertain of his future course of action. For the time being he could only play his part as Gu Yue Chi Yan and observe the situation.
