12 A Butterfly Dream

After Chi Yan found out that weird shit was going on, he quickly lost interest in sex and lost his erection.

Upon seeing Chi Yan's fire dragon lose its fire, Luo An appeared somewhat disappointed. Chi Yan deflowered her and then left her like that, ruining her future. And she didn't even get to feel good!

Though the maid's mood seemed to have greatly improved after Chi Yan told her that he'd take her as his concubine; whether he was actually serious or not.

Luo An was already quite happy to be Young Master Chi Yan's servant and plaything, as long as he wouldn't abandon her and her life was stable. Although Chi Yan didn't treat her well and was a bit rough the last couple months until now, she still enjoyed serving him. Compared to what other mortals had to deal with, she thought that such a life wasn't so bad.

But to hear that Chi Yan actually wanted to make her his concubine and even talked with her so warmly these days, it was completely unexpected!

Chi Yan enjoyed Luo An's amazed and joyful expression as he was chasing her away from his room. In this world it is a great fortune for a slave to become a concubine of someone with his status that would actually treat her well, just like for Shen Cui it was to hook up with Fang Zheng.

After Luo An left, Chi Yan was alone once again, only with his depressed thoughts as his smile faded. Somehow he had regressed to the day before he killed Fang Yuan.

Thinking back, Chi Yan could recall that he briefly dreamed about being a butterfly and entering some kind of river.

He also had a very realistic dream that he remembered well of watching himself in a third person view going to the Gu Yue village's inn and then going back home without killing Fang Yuan.

At this moment it confused the hell out of him.

Did he even kill Fang Yuan or was it all a dream? Chi Yan would swear that it could not have been a dream, for how real it all felt.

Chi Yan felt that he was losing his mind. He was not sure anymore, and he didn't know what was a dream and what was real.

'I either came back to the past with the use of this mysterious Gu or earlier I was actually stuck inside a dream realm and didn't truly kill Fang Yuan. Both are possible. The end result is that my aptitude dropped and I either acquired the mysterious Gu or it revealed itself to me,' Chi Yan made a conclusion based on his novel knowledge.

Whatever was the case, Chi Yan then thought about how to deal with Fang Yuan this time.

Compared to the past, if he wanted to kill Fang Yuan again, then now there was a big change - he didn't have his Extreme Physique anymore! At this moment his Lightning Current Gu might not be enough to completely stun Fang Yuan and Fang Yuan might stab him back, killing him.

Chi Yan wasn't sure what to do. Since he had successfully killed Fang Yuan, yet some kind of plot armor intervened and rewinded time, it almost felt like a warning to him.

He saw three options open before him:

-He could allow Fang Yuan to take the Flower Wine Monk's Inheritance. See what happens first. And then if he wanted, he could get Fang Yuan executed by the clan.

-Or he could ask Chi Lian to capture Fang Yuan.

-Or he could claim the Liquor Worm and the Flower Wine Monk's Inheritance for himself before Fang Yuan.

Chi Yan already knew in which portion of the jungle Fang Yuan would search for the Liquor Worm today thanks to what happened before he looped, so he felt that he should be able to find it before him if things are the same as in the novel.

When thinking about the first option, Chi Yan was aware that he could simply wait for a single day for Fang Yuan to find the Flower Wine Monk's cave and trigger the moving image wall, and then report Fang Yuan and the cave to the clan. In that situation though, it was possible that Fang Yuan knew about Chi Yan's Extreme Aptitude and he could reveal it to the clan, causing Chi Yan to be thrown to First Gen Gu Yue's Blood Pool! At the same time, because Fang Yuan was Fang Zheng's blood brother, he might not be treated so cruelly as a typical C-grade clansman as to be straight out silenced completely through execution.

'In regards to the first option, I can't report Fang Yuan and the cave to the clan, I can only report it to Gu Yue Chi Lian directly, so that he would capture him himself to interrogate him about the details of the Inheritance. The second option is much better. Next, to speed things up I should kill Fang Yuan myself when he's already captured and bound for interrogation! Although Chi Lian will be furious that he wasn't able to interrogate Fang Yuan, all that matters is that Fang Yuan dies.'

'Whether I snatch the Liquor Worm or send out the Chi family's people to capture Fang Yuan, I could be incurring the Heavens' wrath in all cases. In that case, isn't it better to go all the way and capture him, and then murder him? Wouldn't it be much safer to be more radical?'

Chi Yan suddenly thought of something. This time Fang Yuan and Heaven's Will would be prepared. Once Fang Yuan is captured, in the spur of the moment he might be able to refine his Moonlight Gu with Spring Autumn Cicada's aura and, perhaps, shoot it out at Chi Yan when Chi Yan tries to kill him.

However, an initial stage moonblade, just what could it do to him? Thinking about it, it could actually slash his neck and kill him if aimed well!

'For this occasion I can practice more with my defensive Gu for my own safety. And if I was actually killed by Fang Yuan in the interrogation room, then it would spell his doom afterwards! It is not as dangerous as I think,' Chi Yan told himself.

After thinking for a long time, Chi Yan decided to allow Fang Yuan to find the Liquor Worm, while he himself practices the usage of a defensive Gu worm in the meantime. At that moment a question appeared in Chi Yan's mind - would Fang Yuan still buy Green Bamboo Wine to search for the Liquor Worm in case Chi Cheng doesn't buy some to drink? After all, there was no Jiang Ya inside the inn in his memories to force the hunters to buy a jar and open it!

'Huh huh, what should I do? Should I go out and drink some Green Bamboo Wine later to help Fang Yuan or should I stay to see what happens?'

Chi Yan thought - if he stayed at home, Fang Yuan might fail in finding the Liquor Worm or he might succeed. Even if Fang Yuan fails though, Chi Yan could still send out Chi Lian tomorrow after Fang Yuan in the name of Chi Yan's aptitude being known by him, and then Chi Yan could trigger the image wall himself and frame Fang Yuan for trying to keep it a secret. No matter what, even if Chi Yan kept the inheritance hidden for some reason, he should still be forgiven for murdering Fang Yuan based on his talent and background, even if Chi Lian had to pay a large fine in secret to hide the matter.

'For the day I'll just stay home and see what happens. If Fang Yuan fails in finding the Liquor Worm, then that's actually a good thing! Instead of sending someone after Fang Yuan today, I'll do it tomorrow.' Having made up his mind, Chi Yan let out a breath of relief.

Chi Yan then visited Gu Yue Chi Lian and reported that he had already refined his Single Aperture Charcoal Gu. He then requested and received a Rank 1 Copper Skin Gu from the family's treasury as his defensive Gu.

Not that it was needed, but Gu Yue Chi Lian assisted Chi Yan in refining the Copper Skin Gu instantly, and then Chi Yan returned to his room to practice with it.

Rank 1 Copper Skin Gu provided temporary defense when activated, while Rank 2 and Rank 3 Copper Skin would permanently transform a Gu Master's skin.

After losing his Extreme Physique, Chi Yan then faced another predicament - his passive primeval essence recovery was now nearly non-existent! Even though he had a genius A-grade talent, he would still need to wait for an entire day to recover his Primeval Sea, while he could exhaust it all after just a dozen uses of Copper Skin Gu.

Right now Chi Yan could either use primeval stones or limit his practice of defensive Gu and spend his time doing something else that was also productive, making his defensive Gu practice virtually useless.

For the time being, even though he felt that using a few primeval stones shouldn't have much of an effect, Chi Yan spent most of his day reading books that he thought would be useful, as he was still able to intuitively use the Copper Skin Gu if he had to.

When the night eventually came, Chi Yan went to sleep while skipping Luo An's services.

The night passed.

As Chi Yan woke up after a full night's rest, the sound of rain hitting against the rooftop greeted his ears once again.

'It's raining. Again?!'

Chi Yan quickly stood up and looked out the window, being greeted by the same scenery that he saw yesterday.

Following that he looked around his room and noticed that the things that he left lying around yesterday were all gone now.

Then he inspected his aperture... There was no Single Aperture Charcoal Gu or Copper Skin Gu there. Furthermore, after careful examination, if he earlier judged his Aptitude to be 98%-99%, then now it definitely dropped to 98%!
