Truth and Discovery

"B-beast, s-sage?"

I was overtaken by fear with a mixture of shock. It's not everyday you see someone emitting wind energy from his mouth, to make matters worse in the form of a dragon.

Xerxes crossed his arms and watched me quiver in disbelief, it was understandable. After all I was merely a kid who is thirteen years of age and from where I come from, little to no one makes use of magic.

"There are things in this world that one can't comprehend, one of those things is the existence of magic."

I was flabbergasted, that would explain what just happened but still it was hard to believe, magic.

"You come from a town where it's populace has zero to no potential in the magical arts, it is no surprise you are unaware of the existence of magic.

Xerxes extended his right hand towards me to help me up from the ground. He could tell that I wasn't able to make good use of my legs as of the moment, they were visibly shaking.

I stretched my hand forward before grabbing his hand and he pulled me up.

"I'll explain everything back at the Inn."

Xerxes informed me before he turned around and headed towards the direction we came into the forest from. I of course followed him with my curiosity peaked.

Was this the answer he said we were headed to? I was unsure. The theory of the existence of magic only answered half my questions. The question which has haunted for a very long time has yet to be answered.

Hours had passed and we already arrived back at the inn. Xerxes gave me time to process everything I had seen, I sat up straight, my back rested again the frame of the bed.

I was back in the same room as earlier which is now my space for accommodation.

The door opened and Xerxes walked in with a glass of water, he placed it on the side table besides the bed. Xerxes sat down at the edge of the bed and remained silent for a moment.

"As you know, Terra lane, Lumiose city, Karuka town and so on, when combined together is the Kingdom of Elvesmore. What you don't know is what actually happens around you Xavier."

I raised up my head and gazed upon Xerxes, I never told him my name so how did he know that.

"How did you know my name?"

"I have been watching you since the very beginning Xavier, plus the news of your father's demise wasn't something that could be hidden."

"Oh."

Several questions still raced across my mind as this discovery left me clueless about literally everything.

"You said you are the beast Sage of Elvesmore, what exactly is a beast Sage?"

A faint smile was noticable on the face of Xerxes who placed his hands right on his laps.

"In the world of magic there are several ranks of wizards that exists. Depending on your affinity each individual is categorized into different attributes."

He paused whilst picking up the glass of water I thought was for me and took a sip. When he dropped the glass back down he resumed his explanations.

"Users of magic are widely known as Mages. They are classified into wind mages, fire mages, water mages and plant mages. Over the years several attributes seemed to have bloomed out of the blue, giving birth to individuals with unusual magic types."

Was this hard to believe? I couldn't say. Most of my life was centered around bad luck and premature losses. Nothing I could see at this point was beyond believing.

"Beast Sage, is used to refer to a wizard of great power, they are three ranks in the magic world, any individual who reaches a level of power so great is placed into these ranks. Placing them in order they are the Arcana Sage, Beast Sage and finally the most strongest of them all, the Dragon Sage."

I was speechless , anyone could tell due to my facial expression.

"But your the beast Sage so that means...."

Xerxes turned to face me with a smug look on his face.

"Yeah."

My eyes wavered a bit, everything attacked me all at once and for once in an acceptable way.

"You asked why I saved you earlier, didn't you Xavier?"

I nodded slowly, my eyes displayed full focus to whatever Xerxes was about to say.

"This isn't the first time I found you Xavier, back when you were 6 I found you at the river bank, crying."

Xerxes picked up the glass cup once more and drank all the water in it, it made me shrug as I was getting kind of thirsty.

When he finally dropped the glass he continued.

"Normally I would have gone my way, but something happened when your emotions became more intense and you cried even more."

He paused placing his right hand on his jaw and closed his eyes, he tried to remember everything that happened that day exactly.

"The atmosphere changed each time your cries became heavier, the wind energy that circulated the river increased at a considerable rate."

I didn't understand what he was trying to say, it was as if I did, but it didn't sound like something that was plausible.

"I thought it was impossible, no citizen of Terra lane had been recorded being able to use magic. So I decided to keep my eye on you."

"Is this what you meant by potential?"

I interrupted him with a question as everything sounded like a joke in my ears, me a mage? let's not get too crazy.

"Yeah, I kept my eye on you since that day in order to kill the curiosity inside me, however my investigation turned out to be false and when I thought I was wrong all along. I found you walking in the forest in anguish, with each step you took the leaves in the trees were blown off, your emotions caused your power to fluctuate."

My eyes widened in shock as Xerxes told me the truth at once.

"I don't know how given your family reek of lack of potential, but you are a mage Xavier, not just any mage. A wind mage."

I tried to say something but words simply refused to come out of my mouth, I am a mage? How?

I scoffed a bit maniacally.

"It's not possible"

I replied to Xerxes with disbelief, why not? my father and mother weren't mages, so how the hell did I become one? Or was it a hereditary trait they lacked? Who knows.
