36 Resolving crisis

Hakon had even seen through their treasury and assessed all the financial assets of Long family. This was already upsetting enough. But Ken bore through it just for the sake of resolving this crisis of war.

"You've seen through every part of the castle yourself, Commander Hakon." Wind said calmly. "Did you find any rebels hiding anywhere? We've even shown you all the secret pathways and provided a complete map-plan of the castle. What you are suspicious of, is not here. Long family is loyal to the emperor."

"…"Hakon didn't care whether or not Long family was harboring rebels. He was clear on Emperor's intention of destroying Long family. He was only looking for an excuse. But Wind and Ken had been so clean about everything, that he could find no excuses.

Running out of options, Hakon played the Huian card again.

"That girl, the suspicious guest of your Long family…" Hakon spoke. "I want to see her."

Wind sighed. It eventually came down to it. This was clear enough that Hakon had no intention of letting Long family off. Huian was a weakness that couldn't be rid of, given Ken's feelings for her. But at this point, Wind smiled internally.

"A person may be a weakness, but if used properly, they may also prove to be a strength." Wind thought. "Hakon, I'll play your card back at you, just you wait." He sneered internally.

"Well, so be it." Wind uttered.

"Wind…" Ken glanced at Wind with anxiousness and a warning tone.

"It'll be alright, Ken." Wind replied shedding the honorifics, addressing Ken in the same manner as he did, not showing any weaker stance.

"We'll fulfill this demand of yours, Commander Hakon." Wind then said to him. "But it's already gotten so late at night. Why don't we have dinner together? There's already a feast prepared for your army. The girl you demand shall be brought over by the time you're done eating."

Hakon stared at Wind, wondering what he was planning. In any case, no one could escape the castle anyway, so he decided to play along and see what trick Wind had up his sleeve.

"Then so be it." Hakon relented.

Ken glanced at Wind.

"But are you sure you want to wage war with the Emperor right now? Huian will survive, yes; but everyone else will eventually die at the hands of Emperor Jiao. Your father, your loyal comrades, your subjects…eventually perhaps even you. What future does Huian have without you?"

"Enough!" Ken sighed and massaged his temples. "Why…why is this happening? Why must we concede our honor, pride and loved ones to this vile Emperor?" Ken knelt down down, covering his face. "What did my family ever do against him? What is wrong with being self sufficient? Why must he target us? Why can't we live on in peace? I…I'll bloody kill him!"

Wind sighed half kneeling and patted Ken's shoulder. "We WILL kill him, if that's what it takes to obtain peace and freedom. I will fight alongside you to the bitter end anytime you want. But to bring a great change in the world, one person's power is too small. We must band together, we must persevere and we must all make sacrifices. Revolution…demands sacrifices."

"That's right." Suddenly a soft voice came from behind them. Both boys turned to find Huian standing there. She looked beautiful. Her bright red hairs were tied in a lovely bun. She was draped in a peach colored satin dress, translucent at the right places, sticking to her body. The purpose was obvious.

"Huian…" Ken uttered sadly.

"Mister Wind is right." Huian spoke sadly. "We must all make sacrifices. I'm willing to do what it takes to ensure the safety of others around me."

Wind sighed glancing at Huian. The daughter of commander Oreon had inherited his bravery for sure. At this moment, this girl looked stronger than any man.

"Let's go." Huian said walking past them.

Ken and Wind stood up slowly, walking behind her with rueful expressions. A curtain was opened and Huian stepped out where everyone could see her. Hundreds of hungry lustful gazes locked onto her immediately.
