1 The Weakest Hero?

In a classroom of fifteen students and their teacher, a 16 year old boy with curly blonde hair and blue eyes sat listening intently. This was Vercingetorix or, as his friends and family called him, Verce. He was 5'9 and had an average build without much muscle. However, he was generally liked throughout his class and was doing relatively well in his subjects.

While his teacher was talking about the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-05, some of the students, including Verce, saw something strange on the ground. A huge amount of faintly glowing runic symbols had appeared underneath all of the student's desks.

There was not one beneath the teacher's desk which is why he did not notice, especially with his back turned to face the whiteboard that he was writing on. When he turned back around to ask one of his students a question, none of them were anywhere to be seen.

*In Another World*

The fifteen students found themselves standing in a grand hall with a man sat in a throne at the top of a small incline with beautiful steps leading up to him. He was surrounded by a multitude of knights and people with staffs, and he shouted out, "Welcome Mighty Heroes, I am King Urien of the Urien Kingdom. I have summoned you today with the purpose of helping our country defeat the waves of monsters which keep assaulting our world. These powerful groups of monsters appear from rips in space and time which seem to be happening once every month. Until now we have been able to fend them off ourselves, albeit with difficulty. However, we are now losing too many people to these waves and need the assistance of you Legendary Heroes. Once you manage to stop these waves, you will be able to return back home, and it will seem as though no time at all had passed."

As a lot of anime had similar concepts to this on Earth, a situation like this was easily understood by the students, or Heroes. They would have been angry, but they knew that the only way to get home was to assist the country and then they could get back with no real time having passed.

Instead of the King, a man in white robes wearing a magnificent hat spoke, "If you would all put your hands on these orbs then we will be able to view your statuses as Heroes. You may also view your own status at any time by saying 'status', the orbs are just a precaution so we know that you are not lying. They will only tell us your class and level, and no skills or stats will be revealed."

The students complied and approached the orbs, there were five in total which meant that it would take three groups of five students to finish checking their statuses.

The first batch of students' results looked like this.

Nathan: Spear Hero, Level 1.

Sebastian: Dagger Hero, Level 1.

Tamara: Water Magic Hero, Level 1.

Alyssa: Club Hero, Level 1.

Lloyd: Fist Hero, Level 1.

These students were all commended by the man in the white gowns, as well as the King before the next batch got tested.

Maximilian: Fire Magic Hero, Level 1.

Raphael: Halberd Hero, Level 1.

Rose: Healing Magic Hero, Level 1.

Alexander: Sword Hero, Level 1.

Lauren: Bow Hero, Level 1.

This group was just as praised as the previous group, if not more so, as they had one of the strongest types of Hero in the group, the Sword Hero. After this, it was time for the final group of students.

Lucia: Lance Hero, Level 1.

Savannah: Summoner Hero, Level 1.

Spencer: Wind Magic Hero, Level 1.

Esme: Support Magic Hero, Level 1.

Vercingetorix: Bard Hero, Level 1.

The response to this group was split, most people in the group were praised, especially Lucia who had received the Summoner Hero class, as this was a very strong class. However, the King had shown immediate annoyance and disgust with one of the students, "Useless, the Bard Hero is the worst type of Hero possible. All you can do is use weaker support magic than the actual Support Magic Hero. We have no need for you, one of my knights will escort you out of the castle."

Verce attempted to argue against this, but was immediately grabbed by a knight much larger than him and dragged through a large amount of halls before arriving in front of a large door which seemed to lead to the exit of the castle.

However, they did not go through this door, instead the knight kept dragging him down the hall to the left before arriving at a much smaller wooden door. The knight opened this door and dragged Verce down the stairs behind it.

Eventually, they reached the bottom of the stairs and Verce was thrown into a cell and the door to it was locked. Confused, he shouted out, "What's going on? I thought I was being kicked out, not thrown in a dungeon!"

The knight looked at Verce with disgust in his eyes, "Who said you could speak? Anything the King doesn't want is permitted to be our toy, so shut up."

The knight walked down the dark hall which Verce assumed led to more cells, before returning five minutes later with more knights. The one who had originally dragged him into the cell unlocked the door and all five of the knights entered.

Two of them grabbed Verce and restrained him completely before restricting his hands and legs with the rusty metal shackles on the wall. Once he was locked in place with his arms above his head and his legs unable to move, the knights took it in turns to punch Verce in the stomach over and over again while making retorts.

"Even if you're the weakest of all the Heroes, seems like you still have some strength in you."

"I wonder how long you'll survive, hopefully long enough for us to get as much use as possible out of you."

"Let's see if you can handle this."

"Seems he's fallen unconscious, cold water should do the trick."

After hours and hours of being constantly beaten until he fell unconscious before being forcibly awoken by not only the original knights, but also more which seemingly kept swapping in and out without end, Verce was finally left alone for the day.

He knew that he was the weakest Hero, but he remembered that he would be able to check his own status and, just in case there was anything helpful, he decided to.

After reading through his status, Verce saw his class had changed to a Fallen Bard Hero, and he did not know if this had changed anything in his status. However, he assumed that despite some of his skills seeming decent, or even quite strong, compared to other Heroes and possibly even regular people, he was quite weak. He could not compare his stats to anything currently, but he wanted to if he managed to escape.

Although his situation was terrible, he wanted to be free and believed that he would be able to once he figured out a plan. He could not think of one at the current point in time due to the pain he was in, as well as how tired he was. Without meaning to, Verce fell asleep while still chained up.
