Chapter 5

Seeing the waiters looking busy, Joana glanced at the wide-open door. The large wooden door seemed to be waving invitingly to pass through.

Joana stepped there as if hypnotized. Perhaps the people around her were caught off guard, and she could find an opening to escape. But Joana had to swallow a pill of disappointment immediately because as soon as she saw the gate in front of her, she saw two big guards on duty in her place. The two of them seemed relaxed while chatting, but suddenly, both looked at Joana, who might have been salivating when she saw the gate.

Realizing the two guards were watching her, Joana immediately looked away as if she didn't see the two big men. She walked away and disappeared from their sight.

Okay. Maybe the big villa had a way out other than the gate up ahead. Joana walked around the luxury villa, hoping to find another way out.

There is only a large pool and a garage on the right and left sides of the villa. The fence was also so high that Joana couldn't climb over it.

Finally, Joana went to the back. She believes that usually, every building must have access in and out other than the main gate.

Joana's eyes widened when she saw an iron door that maybe only one person could pass through the height of the fence. She was made impatient to approach.

However, Joana had to hide first when two maids were seen walking around the back of the villa. She had to be careful because this could be her only chance.

After making sure that no one saw her, Joana rushed to the iron door. For a moment, it occurred to her why there was no guard at the door. She was also even more astonished by the fact that the door was not locked.

Joana smiled triumphantly. Jeremy seems not that smart, or maybe the Goddess of Fortune is always protecting her. Joana impatiently opened the door and stepped out.

But her heart was about to burst as soon as she saw the gaping chasm beyond the door.

Joana would have almost fallen into the abyss had she not been holding on to the door. With her heart still beating very fast, she looked down the abyss to see how deep the bottom was.

While searching for the bottom of the ravine, which was blocked by many tree branches, Joana thought it was only fitting that there was no guard at the iron door because there was a very steep ravine behind it. But Jeremy should have known there was a ravine behind his villa. Then, why did he make a door in this place?

"Want to run away or kill yourself?" Jeremy's voice suddenly startled Joana.

Very shocked, Joana lost her balance and almost fell into the abyss had Jeremy not grabbed hold of her clothes quickly.

Jeremy tugged at Joana's collar until the girl grabbed and bumped into him. Somehow now her position is like being hugged.

Joana clung to Jeremy's shoulders, and Jeremy gripped her waist. With a heart that was about to burst and her breath gasping for air, Joana looked into Jeremy's eyes.

Being close to Jeremy made her realize that the face in front of her was very handsome. Firm facial lines like gods in Greek mythology decorated with jet eyes that seemed to bewitch anyone who looked at him.

But the daydream was broken when suddenly Jeremy kicked the metal door shut and pushed Joana violently. "Do you want to end your life? Have you gone mad?" he scolded.

"I was so surprised to see you," Joana defended herself.

"You've seen a bottomless ravine there, and you're looking at it like you're looking at a mountain!" Jeremy was getting angrier.

"If you know there's a ravine here, why do you have to open a door? It can be perilous!" Joan scolded.

"Of course, this door is to outwit the thieves, you idiot!" Jeremy cursed.

Joana was surprised to hear Jeremy's reason for installing the iron door. She thought that if there was a thief, she would escape through the door behind her. And the thief would fall and most likely die at the bottom of the abyss. Are there also many human skulls that have been stolen in this villa? Seeing Jeremy's temper, there was no way she would report or even take care of the thieves' bodies. She would definitely let it go no matter the thieves' fate.

But because the evil man called stupid, Joana became annoyed. "I'm going to think that way, I'm not someone from your circle, so I don't have to worry about thieves because I don't have anything of value to steal from me!" she grumbled, then walked away, leaving Jeremy.

Jeremy turned around to stop Joana from leaving, "hey, who told you to leave?"

Joana stopped and turned around, "why not? You can't stop me from doing whatever I want!" she insisted.

Jeremy smiled sarcastically, "I'm your boss now. Don't you want to obey me anymore?"

Joana heard the words well. Words that imply a threat to the safety of her family. She took a deep breath and turned around again. She tried to hide her sweet smile. "Yes, Sir, I'm sorry," she growled.

"Follow me!" told Jeremy as he walked past Joana.

Joana was forced to obey Jeremy's orders and followed behind the man. They arrived at the living room, and Jeremy relaxed on the sofa.

"Turn on the television," Jeremy said.

Joana took the remote from the table and turned on the television according to Jeremy's orders.

"Take off my shoes," Jeremy said again.

Joana was surprised to hear the command, "you can't take off your own shoes?"

Jeremy looked at Joana sharply, "just do it," he said with great emphasis.

Joana angrily knelt down and took off the evil man's leather shoes. But when she let go, Jeremy shouted, "slow down, you're hurting my leg!"

Joana had utterly lost her temper and stood up straight. "I know these shoes are expensive. The materials used to make them are impossible to hurt your feet!" she exclaimed. "I really can't take it anymore!" she muttered as she threw the shoes on the floor, then quickly ran to the gates intending to escape.

However, unfortunately, when she arrived at the gate, she was quickly caught by the guards. Even though she knew this would happen, Joana insisted on running away.

The guards violently dragged her upstairs to where she was previously locked up. She was dropped onto the bed like a piece of junk.

Just as she was about to wake up, Jeremy was in front of her. "How dare you go against me!" he shouted.

"Are you deliberately trying to play with me, you made me look like a servant, but your servants even shy away from me?" Joana protested, "let me go!" she continued shouting.

"You know why they hate you? It's because you are the special servant here. You will only serve me!" Jeremy snapped as he pushed Joana back onto the bed.

The guards were still at the door, and Jeremy angrily gave the order, "tie her up!"
