CHAPTER 5

Sam stared at the door that had been shut closed in their face with nothing but absolute shock. He had never thought that she would do something like that to him. He heard Jackson let out a sniffle as his small body shook and he reached out to rub a soothing hand on the back of his head.

He couldn't begin to understand what was happening and he knew that this wasn't like her. He decided that it was time for him to call the Alpha and let him know about exactly what was going on. This was going to be much harder than he had thought. She wasn't the same frightened girl that she once was. She had changed a lot and he knew that she wouldn't be as welcoming towards River as he envisioned.

River sat in his office as he paced the floors. He couldn't stay still as he thought about having Mina back. It would have given him the chance to be able to explain everything to her. She was the love of his life and there had ever been a time when that had changed and he needed to tell her that.

He knew it would be hard but he hoped that her seeing Jackson would make things easier for her. She always loved children and they had talked about having kids in the future on multiple occasions and yet it has been taken away from him.

He was brought out of his thoughts when he felt his phone ring and his body instantly stiffened as he reached out to answer the call. "Hello." He asked without looking down to see who was calling him.

"We have a problem." He heard the voice on the other end say. " What is it?" He asked as he realized that it was Sam. He watched as he let out a sigh from his lips. "I don't know but she isn't the same. I know that you think that she is still the same girl that you left here so many years ago but that isn't true. She had changed a lot since then. She is much stronger and she had said that she wouldn't come home". He said and he felt his body tense as a sense of anger came over him. If she was his he would have bent her over his knee and would have spanked her for being naughty.

He let out a sigh from His lips as he ran a hand through his hair. "What do you mean she won't come? Have you shown her Jackson and have you told her about her grandfather". He asked him and this time he sounded even more desperate than he did before.

"Yes I have and she went off at the sight of Jackson. She said she didn't want to see him and she said that she wants nothing to do with you or the pack that is her grandfather was truly dead she would simply have to mourn him on her own terms and her own accord and do you can't force her." He said to him and River felt a pain in his heart.

He didn't understand why she would choose to be cold to Jackson. He knew that Jackson was his son but he was just a child. "I don't know about you but I think she is mainly angry at you and that is what she is lashing out at. I think it will all make sense if you settle this out without Jackson here". He said to him and he let out a sigh as he nodded his head at him in response.

"This is all your fault. You are the one who pushed her away and you are the one who caused this mess and now it is up to you to fix it or else I will have to take it into my own hands. He heard his wolf threaten in the back of his head. His wolf Xavier didn't speak much at least not since the time when he had got rid of Nina and he was still very upset with him for what had happened.

But his warning was something that he knew that

He had to be taken seriously and wasn't one to be taken lightly. He turned back to his phone as he knew that he had to fix this. "I need you to go to her house and give her the phone. Maybe if i try to explain things to her them she will listen but this is important". He said and he heard some shuffling on the other end.

"Actually I am already here." He said and he let out a sigh as he heard him knock on the door. His heart beat rapidly against his chest. It had been 7 years since he had spoken To her and he hadn't thought about what to say when he got her back. He was nervous to find out how she would react and he found his mouth going dry.

"He wants to talk to you". He heard Sam say to her on the other end. There was a long pause of silence as he felt his heart beat rapidly against his chest. If she had declined he would go down on his knees and beg her if he had to. This was important and he would do whatever it takes.

"Hello." She said to him in the most melodic voice that he had heard. It had been so long and yet even now her voice managed to brog him to his knees. He tensed as he felt all of their memories rushing back towards the surface of his mind. He could see her bright smile and all of the emptiness that she shared. The times they kissed and the end they shared. He was a terrible person and that had become more clear than ever.

"Nina." He managed to say. "What do you want? I already told Sam that I don't want anything to do with you and I am not coming back. I don't know how much clearer do I have to make that for you." She said to him in a hissing tome. And even when she was angry she still managed to make his wolf cheer in his head.

"I know that I am the last person that you want to hear from and that you don't want anything to do with me but please just listen. You aren't safe there. I just want what is best for you and you are safest here in the back with your family." He said to her and he heard her scuff as she let out a chuckle.

"My family. Do you mean you? It's funny because there is no one that has hurt me in this world more than you. I am always getting hurt when I am with you. You are a vile man and you continue to hurt me over and over again and now you have brought your son here to me to rub it in my face is it. To show me that you are happy. What do You want to achieve? What more do you want from me? You have already taken my soul and ripped it out, what else is there to govd aside from my life". She called out as she choked back a sob.

He felt his heart shatter at his words as she found herself struggling to find the words to say. "I don't want anything from you and the next time you come for me I won't go easy on you. You have made an enemy out of me and you will pay for what You have done. For how you ruined me." She said and then she hung up.
