Chapter Two

The winds blow heavy on the sails as the leave the dock. The men are in high spirits as they set off on their raid. The sounds of the ship rock and turn as it crashes against the waves. As the winds send a burning sensation across his face, Byjorn shouts with glee, cheering with the men. Serina with a focused face looks up at byjorn and smiles seeing him happy. "Serina! What say you about this joyous occasion? Have you softened your heart towards father? You know he was only looking out for you." Byjorn says to serina. She gives him a stern look before replying that what he had done to her was only for the betterment of himself and the jarl and not to better her. He looks at her and walks toward her and yells from the top of his lungs that she is only here because you had a fit in front of our jarl and he allowed you on out of pity. Serina with tears in her eyes runs below deck where her bunk was; crying hysterically. as she cries she hears a voice call for her; thinking its byjorn she yells for him to go away and that she doesn't wanna talk to him. The voice replies with is that how you talk to someone of noble stature. Thinking its the jarl, she jumps out the bunk and apologize over and over. Turning around she sees a figure in a long flowing robe ,standing without saying a word. Looking in shock, she sees eyes that glow with a bright blueish light. Like if the lightning itself was contained in his eyes.

"Sit down and don't speak serina!" The Mysterious man exclaimed

A confused look came over her face and questioned how he knew her named and why he would come to her bed at this hour. Then out of nowhere she hears a feint wake up wake up coming from across the ship. out of nowhere the figure says wake up. Serina shoots out of her bed waking up from that dream.

" damn that was crazy" she had said

She pondered in her bed for a little while about who the figure in her dream was. His eyes was put into the forethought of her mind. Her brother walks into the room and asks if she was okay. She nodded and got out of her bed and walked past her brother and onto the deck of the ship. The captain of the ship came walking down from his quarters after a long talk with the jarl.

"Men! and lady, I just spoke with our jarl and we will be making port to resupply because due to some miscalculations by our steward we need to stop off and have ourselves some fun" the captain exclaimed

The men were delighted to be getting off the ship and getting their blades wet. with the clanging of axes and shields the men ranted in cheers of joy. After a few hours of calm seas and cool air the waters begin to get choppy and fierce. The captain yells for all hands on deck that we have unfair weather ahead. everyone ran to their stations, the winds pick up and whip the sails back and fourth vigorously. The waves splash hard against the sides of the boat. With each wave that hit made the boat sway just slightly more then the last. After a few hours of the clash of waves the scout spots a mysterious but well lit port so he yells land ho for all to hear. serina was happy to finally be off the boat and on land. This was her very first long voyage away from home.

As they pull into port an eerie feeling begins falling over serina. As she looks there is nobody to greet them or to help them unload the boat; as this was all she has known from her short trips with her father. Serina steps off the boat with her gear and goes to search the town because maybe the townsfolk was in a festival but the town was bare. No townsfolk to be seen around; they approached with caution and axes raised. A dense fog begins to surround them becoming more and more thick as the crew pressed on. After about a half an hour of walking through the fog is so thick you cant see three feet in front of your face. Some of the crew begin to get this off feeling in the pit of their stomachs. Crossing the line of fog they see hundreds and hundreds of rows of peasants, knights, and nobles impaled up on twenty foot pikes. The utter fear on the faces of the jarls men told him all he had to say.

"Men! We have been giving the greatest opportunity of a lifetime. We have been given the chance to battle an unseen enemy. An enemy that hides in the shadows and picks on the weak and helpless but men we are wolves among sheep. we are fearless and ferocious and most importantly we do not fear death!" The jarl shouted as he headed to the frontline

The men yelled and snarled with ferociousness as the jarl gives his speech. they bang their shields against their axes and swords. Serina speaks up and voices we have to cut these poos souls down and give them a proper burial. this is what odin would want is to help the ones who have fallen. even they are of a different culture and faith. Another member of the clan spoke up and said that she was right and we need to give them a proper burial even if they were the enemies of our people. as the men mumbled amongst one another the jarls speaks again saying that it is in our custom to help the fallen even our enemies that have fallen. As they begin lowering the pikes and removing the bodies; a foul and heavy sent begins to roll into the rows of dead corpses. The men begin to cough and vomit as they more bodies they pick up the more sick they got. Some begin to fall to the ground and as she is seeing her fellow warriors fall to the grown she begins to feel uneasy. The more she pressed on the more her knees begin to quake and feel heavier and heavier.

Serina's knees begin to give way and before she knew it everything faded to black.
