5 Broken Felicia

After changing directions, Henry went into silence by stopping. He grabbed a rock near his foot and threw it far away.

The mist cloud had turned into a fog that obscured the visibility in the area. Henry could barely see anything, but he could hear the presence of the hobgoblin because of its powerful breathing.

The hobgoblin heard the rock and immediately ran toward there. It might have powerful instincts, but it was still a brainless idiot.

Meanwhile, Henry was conjuring another spell. A gust of wind blew in front of his chest as the spell gathered. He threw it at his left foot, and he created another one for his right foot.

The hobgoblin soon returned. It came back to this spot because it was suspicious about this place. It found nothing where the sound came from.

Henry threw another rock.

The hobgoblin didn't react. It waited. Seemingly, sniffing the surroundings.

At this moment, Henry finished the other spell. Two silent gusts of wind covered his footsteps. He ran and the two spells silenced his footsteps. It was in time as the hobgoblin managed to smell the faint trace of Henry's unique odor and arrived where he was earlier.

If he hadn't run, he would have been found.

"UWOOOOOOOOAHHHHH!!!"

The angry roar of the hobgoblin resounded behind Henry. He didn't look behind and kept going until he left the fog.

"I need to save Mother!" Henry grimaced.

He was happy to escape the chase. He looked over to the cave entrance beyond the woods. He was close to exiting. If he continued more, he would be safe.

"Haiyah… I'm too attached to this mother of mine…"

Henry shook his head and ran back to the cave.

He soon arrived at the location of the baby chamber. He found his mother there. The baby goblins were all looking at her curiously. None of them dared to approach or touch her.

It seemed that they knew she was the hobgoblin's property, so she was still as before Henry left.

"Mother!"

Henry frowned and ran to his mother's side. The baby goblins hurriedly scurried away from him. Fear appeared on their faces. Now that the hobgoblin was not here, they were afraid of Henry.

It was in their instinct to fear humans when they had no protection.

They hurriedly backed away until their backs were touching the cave walls.

"Mother!!" Henry shook Felicia.

She looked at him and smiled a little.

"Dear… I love you."

Felicia smiled beautifully. The faint glow of the torches illuminated her face, making Henry feel serene and sorrowful. Her Lively Spirit was damaged by this event.

"Mother… No…"

Henry cried. He had just awakened. He couldn't prevent getting attached to this woman who cared for him ever since he was little. He remembered their pitiful and reserved life all these years.

It was built upon her sacrifices. Without her doing those things, he might be doing something disgraceful in order to live by.

"Am I dreaming?"

A hint of confusion appeared on Felicia's face. She looked at Henry's crying face and felt sad. She didn't feel sad about what happened to her as she already reached acceptance, but seeing her son like this, she felt a tug in her heart.

"You're not dreaming, Mother. It's me, Henry. Your son!" Henry hugged her.

His tears poured down Felicia's neck. She froze and tears also fell down her eyes. She lost hope, but now that Henry was here, she slowly regained them.

"I'm sorry…"

"No! I should have reported that goblin before you returned home!" Henry responded angrily.

He wouldn't let his mother blame herself when she had already suffered enough.

He lifted her up and stood up. He glared at the baby goblins in this place and exited. He had no time. If he had the powers, he would have killed them all. Unfortunately, the hobgoblin was still out there.

Henry ran out of the cave. Felicia had fallen asleep. She was bleeding all over and she reeked of goblins.

He noticed more and more of her wounds and the determination to torture that hobgoblin became stronger in his heart.

He didn't run back to their house. He ran parallel to the cliffside for a few minutes. He placed his mother under a shade and sat down to rest. At this distance, the hobgoblin shouldn't be able to find them.

"Wait here, Mother."

Henry left her and found a tiny stream. He drank some water before returning to his mother's side.

He sat there beside her. He looked out into the distance with silence. He was no longer anxious with her beside him.

"What a mess…"

Henry shook his head. He looked at his mother's wounded face and thought of an idea.

He conjured another spell. A faint green light blinked slowly in front of his chest. He pushed it toward his mother's face.

The moment it touched her skin, the scratches caused by the gravel healed in the blink of an eye. Her sleeping face became even more beautiful and pure under the shade.

He couldn't remember the spell he chanted before he was transported to this time, but he knew that it shouldn't have worked. Now that he was here, he didn't expect his memories to awaken so late.

It felt a little bit surreal to Henry, but he had the memories of Felicia taking care of him so it was only a mild discomfort. He lifted her naked body and transported her to the side of the river.

He didn't care if she was naked. Anyways, he just thought that she was a junior while he washed her body carefully with the flowing water.

He created a bed of large leaves for her to sleep on while he waited for her to wake up.

"..."

Henry rested his back against the tree and closed his eyes. He was too tired. Conjuring so many spells from the different elements exhausted him. Even though magi could cast all the elements, he wasn't one yet, so each different element strained his mind.

Henry opened his eyes. He heard some noises close to him. He looked over and saw Felicia sitting up with a confused look on her face.

She looked behind her and their eyes met.

"Ah!"

Felicia screamed in shock. She covered her sensitive body parts and hurriedly stood up.

"D-Dear?!"

She was stunned. She looked down at her body and realized she was clean. The realization of which made her blush and turn into a red tomato.

"Relax, Mother. I simply washed your body. I don't like the smell of goblins."

"!!!"

Felicia was horrified as she remembered what happened before. She didn't feel like covering her sensitive body parts anymore. She didn't think she had any dignity left.

"Thanks."

Felicia's mood turned gloomy. She looked around her and noticed the stream of water. She drank some water and walked to him.

"Dear, I owe a lot to you. I promise I will find your father's family!" Felicia murmured heavily.

Henry looked at her. He shook his head to tell her it was okay.

"No… Your father was originally a noble, but he loved me so much that he was willing to leave the comforts of his home. After his death, they didn't even send anyone! But I know that they care about their descendants! Give me a chance, Dear!" Felicia's voice was so loud Henry was afraid she would attract the hobgoblin.

"Mother, look, I can become a Magus now."

Henry only became heartbroken seeing the look on her face.

"I know you know my job. I didn't hide it, nor did we talk about it. But I indeed want you to have a comfortable life! I believe in you, Dear."

Henry was moved after hearing her words. He didn't know where she got her energy from after what happened, but he was truly moved. He could feel her love through her words.

"All right, Mother." Henry resolutely nodded his head.

Felicia wanted to regain her dignity as Henry's mother. She promised those things to forget about what happened. She wanted to distract herself. In truth, she knew that she would be likely ignored again even if she personally came there.
