1 The murder in asylum

"Many years ago the worlds were governed by the 21 primordial gods. They were the oldest and strongest beings in the universe and everything began from them.

Each of the primordial gods had their unique abilities and their powers were balanced and in balance, they governed the living and the dead.

But everything changed. The gods created a unique being that held unimaginable power. She was the most perfect weapon in the universe, devoid of any feelings only loyal to the gods.

Until one day she betrayed them and one fateful night the gods were killed by their own weapon. Her name given by the gods has become taboo and was later forgotten. She is now only known as a god slayer" Spoke the woman with a warm voice as she stood in front of dozens of students.

Her silky ginger hair gently fell below her shoulders as her beautiful golden eyes observed the students in front of her.

And though she looked like a young worm teacher in her 30ies who always smiled, her students knew better than to underestimate her as they all listened attentively, not daring to slack off.

"Miss Fletcher, what happened to the god slayer? Why did she kill her masters?" Asked one of the students in the front seat.

He was wearing large glasses and had an appearance that screamed 'nerd'.

Miss Fletcher looked at the boy that asked the question and spoke patiently.

"Good question Leo. The reasons for her betrayal are unknown to this day. Some say it was for greed, others say she died in a fight with the gods. There are many theories but no concrete proof as the place where the gods lived was destroyed, the slayer herself disappeared and gods are dead."

"Then how do you know she was the one who killed them?" Asked another student.

This time it was a cute blond girl in the back with pointy ears and beautiful green eyes.

"Because of the elementals." Said Miss Fletcher.

"Elementals? you mean the rumored messengers of the primordial gods?" Asked Leo.

"Yes. They managed to bring the message before they died."

"But why did the gods create the slayer in the first place? Weren't they the strongest beings to begin with? Why did they need the weapon that could kill them?" Asked another student in the right corner of the last row.

His deep and cold voice instantly drew everyone's attention right away.

His cold blue eyes weren't letting anyone dare to look him in the eyes. His nonchalant posture as if nothing in the world could bother him had an undeniable charm and dominance. His long black hair fluttered as the wind blew from the open window on his left.

Miss Fletcher looked at the boy in surprise but she quickly managed to gather herself and instead of answering asked back.

"Who are you?"

The boy didn't answer in his stead Leo spoke.

"Miss Fletcher, he is a newly transferred student. His name is Julian Lomari."

But Miss Fletcher was not happy with his assistance.

"And I am sure he is perfectly capable of speaking." She said with a smile that instantly sent shivers down poor Leo's spine.

"Y...Yes, Miss Fletcher."

Seeing her scared student the woman didn't continue pressuring them and relaxed her attitude. She then looked towards Julian.

"Your question is very reasonable, unfortunately, we have no knowledge of their reasons. To this day primordial gods and goddesses together with the slayer are a great unresolved mystery that we may never have answers to. All we can do is remember history and learn from it, learn that nothing, not even primordial gods are infinite and immortal. Everything has a beginning and ending and everything comes with a price."

Her words pierced through the students' hearts as the mood in the classroom became heavy.

"Now for your next assignment. What I told you today is just a small part, I want you to do your own research regarding this matter and choose one of the themes I've sent you to write at least 3000 words."

Students had no time to protest as the bell rang and Miss Fletcher quickly left after beading the good day and goodbye.

The students also quickly left the place and soon only four people were left in the room.

"Hey I am Leo and these are my friends Natalia and Liam." The nerd boy introduced himself as he got closer to Julian.

Next to him stood the blond girl from before and a tall muscled boy with a sunny smile, red hair, and brown eyes.

Julian looked at them and nodded his head.

The trio could only awkwardly smile as they looked at the unresponsive guy and couldn't help feeling helpless.

Next morning

A car pulled into the garden of a mansion-like building. The driver instantly noticed a sign that said 'Oak Valley Mental Hospital'. At any other time, this place would be a pleasant sight with beautiful oak trees towering everything as they open a path towards the mansion, but now it was filled with police cars and policemen.

A young man in his early 20ies came out of the car and showed a badge to one of the policemen and he was instantly let inside the building.

The man had a tall, nicely built body, caramel sun-kissed skin, silky but short brown hair, and mesmerizing golden eyes.

As he walked inside another man with tall posture and dark skin greeted him with familiarity.

"Cap, finally. What took you so long?"

"What's the situation and why did they call us?" Asked the man with a deep and pleasant voice that complimented his sharp jawline and serious facial expression.

"The woman is Anna Fletcher, 31 years old, human. She was a history teacher at Creighton Boarding School." The man's last words managed to halt the man that was walking all this time.

"Sh*t" He cursed as he felt heartache coming.

"What was she doing here?" Asked the man again.

"She was visiting her old student and she is the only witness to the murder."

"Where is she?"

"Things are a little complicated. The student's identity isn't… well… it's complicated."
