26 The last Beer

Despite his excitement, Shiva didn't engage in the fight against the goblins himself. He needed to conserve his stamina for stronger opponents, so he commanded his skeletons to butcher the goblins.

The goblins didn't even realize what hit them, as the poor souls were crushed by the skeletal monsters before they could even do something.

The shields of the poor goblins were far too weak to stop the guardian-type monsters that Shiva had summoned. Archers were useless, while goblins with swords, although they tried their best, could not even leave a scratch on the bones of the skeletons.

"Don't finish it too quickly, the goal is to walk farther, not fast."

Shiva's plan was simple. Each wave gave him 15 minutes to finish the fight, but the initial monsters were too weak and could be killed in a minute or two. But he was not going to make that mistake, since the next wave would start as soon as the current ones died. So instead of killing all the goblins, he let one alive and regenerated his mana, which was continuously being consumed to maintain the undead summons.

He would wait until he recovered, then end the poor monster's life. That way, he could fight each wave in his best condition.

Nonetheless, fighting against the goblins was too easy, and his skeletons killed them all after a few minutes.

<You have defeated the 1st wave of monsters>

<Your 1 strength stat has been increased by>

<The next wave will start in one minute>

"One down, 9 more to go."

He was determined to clear the 10th wave, no matter what, even when he knew that it was almost impossible. The rise which would be accompanied by the clear of each wave would only serve to increase his excitement and determinatuion.

Time passed, and soon, the golden runes appeared in front of him.

<The second wave of monsters has appeared>

<You 15 have minutes to defeat them all>

The monsters that appeared in the second wave were Orcs, but the surprising thing was that each of them was holding a wooden mace.

Shiva looked at the Orcs for few seconds, and then, as if he had lost interest, he sat down, supporting his back against the corruption giant's leg.

"Take care of them."

He felt like the Orcs didn't even need his attention. For him to participate in this hunt, there had to be monsters that were much stronger than just these Orcs.

And exactly as he predicted, the ten or so Orcs met their end at the hands of his summons not long after.

<You have defeated the 2nd wave of monsters>

<Your 2 strength stat has been increased by>

<The next wave will start in one minute>

Like that, the third wave of monsters appeared.

<The third wave of monsters has appeared>

<You 15 have minutes to defeat them all>

This time, it was a bunch of giant rats. Although they were easier to deal with than the Orcs individually, they became harder opponents when they were in groups, like now, as about 30-40 giant rats charged at them.

"Don't waste time, kill them as soon as possible," Shiva commanded.

The reason why giant rats were troublesome opponents was because of their innate trait <Blood Berserk>. The giant rats, if see blood would go berserk and attack without caring about themselves, tearing apart the skin of their opponents. But that was not a problem for Shiva, since he had a bone army to slaughter the rats before they could even reach him.

As the skeletons and the giant rats clashed, only the rattling sounds of bones and the pain-filled shrieks of the rats were heard in the dark void, all while Shiva rested, taking out a beer and chugging it down without a care in the world.

"This is the last beer I have."

It was a shame that he didn't have any more beers with him, but who cares? Once he enters the tower, he can buy better alcohol than these cheap beers.

Nonetheless, while he was busy regretting over his last beer, the skeletons finished the job.

<You have defeated the 3rd wave of monsters>

<Your 3 strength stat has been increased by>

<You have met the conditions to clear trial. Do you want end trial now or move on next round?>

"You think I'm going to miss the free stats? Like hell! Let's continue."

<Challenger has chosen to continue the trial>

<The next wave will start in one minute>

<You can exit from the trial whenever you want here on>

Now that he had reached a kind of a save point, there was nothing to worry about.

"I wonder if the opponents I would face in the higher-level waves would change or not?"

If they did, then that was going to be a problem! His third apostle, who had been a prisoner of the Tower, would only appear in the trial. If he couldn't meet him here, then he would lose a very important subordinate.

"I hope they don't," he wished earnestly, and right then, the fourth wave of monsters appeared.

<The Fourth wave of monsters has appeared>

<You 15 have minutes to defeat them all>

The opponents that presented themselves in front of Shiva in the fourth wave were red-skinned, wolf-like creatures, and there were seven of them.

"Fire wolves at the fourth stage? Now I am curious what monsters will appear in the next rounds."

In his past life, the monsters that appeared were goblins on the first wave, kobolds on the second wave, orcs on the third wave, ogres on the fourth, white wolves on the fifth wave, a two-headed giant snake in the sixth wave, a two-headed ogre on the seventh wave, a tree devil in the eighth wave, his third apostle in the ninth, and finally, the monster which he couldn't even defeat on the 10th wave.

But now, not only was he facing stronger monsters than white wolves in the fourth wave, but the number of opponents was also much more.

"This is getting interesting," he chuckled, chugging down his last beer as he finally got up, ready to stretch a bit before the showdown.
