Retired X Rank: Life Away From The Frontlines

The other title this book goes by: X-Rank Chronicles: Life Away From The Frontlines _________________ X-ranks. They are one rank higher than the average SSS-rank and two levels higher than the SS-rank. If the domain of touching the sky is SS-rank, and the realm of touching the stars is SSS-rank, then X-ranks should be depicted as beings capable of manipulating the stars to decorate the sky. On a continent called Sun Land, there exists a guild capable of producing X-ranks like they were uncommon level items found in dungeons. The country where the guild was created expanded the number of territories it controlled and ruled the continent with an iron might since their military strength has already been assured… Until one fateful day, the guildmaster of that X-Rank guild decided to leave the frontlines and retire. ________________________________________________ Disclaimers: 1. Mechanic

10 years later...

In the outskirts of the Boln Federation, a black haired young man could be seen scratching his head as he pondered on how to fix the broken car engine in front of him.

"Hm...How do I fix this?" As the black haired young man continued scratching his head for answers, a shadow suddenly appeared behind him.

It was a skinny man with sunken eyes and cheeks in ragged clothing.

Without the need to look behind him, the young man smiled slightly before turning his attention back to the broken car engine.

The skinny young man on the other hand, immediately got on his knees before proceeding to speak in a respectful tone.

"Space Sword God pays his respects to the teacher!"

"Oooh, so it's like this....By applying temperature magic here, I can melt and freeze parts back together again... "

"This disciple is here to report matters about the federation's military campaign. They want to unite the whole of Sun Land under one banner and rename it to the Sun Federation. Other than that, there is also the formation of a new alliance called United Magicians New Order composed of third world countries who wish to resist the federation's expansion. What are your thoughts about this alliance, teacher?"

"Hm, by disposing of this part of the engine, I seemed to have figured out a method to reduce the fuel required to get from point A to point B! I'm a genius!"

"Understood, teacher. Ah, one last thing before this disciple takes his leave....Sword Saint Yun Tian seems to be coping well with his new position. Since me and the other senior disciples are guiding him on the path of teaching, I'm sure junior brother Yun Tian will make great contributions to the school and not put the teacher's name down!"

"Thank you for taking the time to report this to me, Yun Xian. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a class to teach." The young man nodded his head in appreciation.

"This disciple shall now take his leave." With that, the skinny man sliced open the space in front of him with his bare hands before disappearing into it.

As for the young man, he simply moved his newly modified car engine onto a wooden cart with wind magic before he teleported the cart and himself to the town nearby.

Asclepius, a town located far east of the Boln Federation, was a place free of war and conflict.

With its lush forests and clear rivers, Asclepius was the ideal home for veteran warriors and old merchants who seek retirement away from the frontlines.

Actually, just before the Boln Kingdom had started their conquest towards uniting all the nations and kingdoms under one banner 50 years ago, Asclepius was also known as the Town of Beginnings.

Every great knight commander and sage that paved the Boln kingdom's path of conquest have all originated from this rural town in the east.

The east of Asclepius was the Great Dungeon of Beelzebub, the west of Asclepius laid the forbidden grounds of Timaeus, Dragon Lake laid to the south of Asclepius while the north of the town was the Northern Heavenly Ridge.

Asclepius's Town Gate

When the black haired young man suddenly appeared at the town's entrance, the patrolling town guards were not startled and instead greeted the young man cheerfully.

"Good morning, Mister Ryuda. Out hunting again?" One of the guards asked when he saw the wooden cart behind the black haired young man.

"Good morning everyone." The black haired young man named Ryuda greeted them back. "I was actually in my workshop fixing Mr. David's broken car engine just now."

"Ah, I see."

"Wow, fixing the lord's car engine? Amazing!"

"You're a mechanic on top of being a hunter and an alchemist?! Mr. Ryuda is truly a jack of all trades! Hahaha, and here I thought your class was teacher…"

Since Asclepius was located far from the moving capital of the Boln Kingdom, Hachiman Fortress, it was normal for the town's inhabitants to not know the recent technological advancements of the kingdom.

Just their town's lord, Mr. David having a car in this rural region of the kingdom made everyone's eyes red with greed since they considered the box of metal a luxury.

As for Ryuda, cars were nothing but junk in his eyes.

Ever since he mastered fusion magic, he created countless variations of flight magic using sound magic, lightning magic and gravitation magic that not only reduce the amount of mana burned when flying but at the same time increase the distance of possible flight per fusion spell casted.

After the guards finally calmed down, they did their routine check of Ryuda's cart before allowing him to enter the town.

Upon entering the town, Ryuda arranged his thoughts for a bit before deciding to head to the town lord's manor to drop the lord's car engine off.

On the way, he was constantly greeted by the townsfolk with cheerful smiles and waving hands. Even after years of living in this rural town, Ryuda still felt warm in his heart when everyone was sincere towards him.

But as he was about to wave back his neighbors, he noticed everyone's expression had changed from happy to fear and shock within seconds before something heavy crashed into him from behind.

A loud thud resounded as a cloud of dust was stirred.

When the dust settled, the townsfolk couldn't believe their eyes.

Ryuda was standing perfectly still while the object that had hit from behind had toppled to its side.

Their neighborhood mechanic was really tough!

As for Ryuda himself, he merely felt a light push on his back. The object that hit him wasn't strong enough to make him fall to his knees.

When he turned around to check, Ryuda saw the object and chuckled lightly to himself.

"A silver carriage painted with horse paste? Is that the new trend among city lords nowadays? *Sigh* Painting your carriage in wyvern blood would have been more tasteful."

"You…You peasant! You dare attack the carriage of my ridge's descendant! You are courting death!" The carriage driver shouted in anger.

Saying so, the carriage driver pushed his innate energy into his palm before getting into a stance.

"Uncle Ballus, enough! " But just as he was about to take action and deal with the young man in front of him, a lady-like voice from within the carriage interjected.

"We of Heavenly Beast Ridge do not bully the weak and most certainly do not harm the beings of the mortal realm. This is the unspoken rule of cultivators. Put away your attack lest we incite the anger of the Celestial Temple and bring disaster to the ridge!"

Despite his discontent, the carriage driver named Uncle Ballus still listened to his descendant and released his innate energy with a sigh.
