CH.4: Marriage Proposal

Naira wake up! we have reached my stomach seems to be churning up again, Y'know what they say about a' women's intuition is always right'.Well my intuition seems to saying something is not right...I wonder what's this about. We were directed towards a private room, I assumed it would be the same people we are supposed to have dinner with so I didn't bother looking around. It was a rectangle table, dad and Sonia opposite Mr. and Mrs McCain, Seirra next to her mother, brother next to Seirra because she basically 'dragged' him and me on the other hand, had no choice but to sit next to Mrs.McCain who was beaming at me, I really don't want her bone crushing hugs again. I kinda felt left-out since bro and I 'used' to sit together before. The night continued with my mind in the outer space, I have been quitley eating my food, there were fried prawns in spices..'mmmm this is soo good' I was just savouring the food in my mouth, seriously who needs a man if food can make you this happy! I have been feeling a eyes on me,but I didn't bother to look. It might be the mother-daughter pair ,oh well not that I care. I've got one if my favorites in front why ruin my appetite because of some unnecesary people, right?

I was glad that no one actually started a proper conversation with me, and if they did my brother in front of me would kick me under the table and I be would be like 'oh uh-huh,hmm, ah yes, ah no', were my only answers. Later when we were almost through with the dinner , George was talking about someone's marriage;" So Richard, when do you wan't hold the wedding ceremony..." I had my all my attention towards my soup. He continued "ceremony of Kyle and Naira.."what he said made me choke bad, really bad. 'Wait WHAT?? did I hear that right??'

By this time all the eyes were on me. I looked at George and asked in confusion, "excuse me, what did you just say?"

"I said marriage between you and Kyle" he replied. I was even more confused, like what in the world is he talking about and who the f*** is that???, "I am sorry I didn't quite get you, what are you talking about and who's Kyle?" I was starting to get angry and I have been just staring at George in utter confusion..."Kyle my grandson, your father and I had a contract, to be precise a marriage contract.Due to some conditions and to expand the business, to have more collaborations we thought it would be great to join country's top companies, which being your father's and mine ,also it wont just be two companies joining hands but also two families." he calmly said it looking towards my fathers and another man's direction, wait is that his grandson, hold on how does it even matter. I looked towards my dad with pleading eyes to tell that none of this was not true, he turned towards me: guilt all over his face, which was my answer. It all of me not to cry at that moment, how,why would he do that to me? I turned towards my brother, only to find the same reaction as dad,'so he knew...great'. I composed myself, ignoring the daggers the mother-daughter pair were throwing at me, I turned towards Mr.McCain and asked," you have to-have to hold a marriage with our family?", he just nodded. Then I saw Seirra's envious gaze and had an idea," well you can have Seirra...she is also a Robertson now" I suggested and I swear you could see diamonds sparking in the'pairs'(Sonia and Seirra) eyes, but he interrupted our thoughts saying, " it needs to be between the 'heirs' and of course the biological daughter of the Robertson" he finished his piece. And I was just in daze...trying to put everything together, trying to...i don't know what; I absentmindedly nodded and slowly got up from my seat and left without another word, taking no notice of bro's and dad's calling out...
