1.2 Reincarnation

'My head hurts. Where am I now?'

I could see light coming from the window. It's warm and bright, it looks like I was in a house. The bed felt comfortable and warm, and I could smell something like food.

I tried to raise myself up, but my body wouldn't move. I barely managed to lift my hand and see the sleeve of the white pajama that I was wearing. I looked at my fingers that somehow looked smaller.

I was looking at my hand in confusion, when I heard a female voice saying, "Oh my god, he survived, he woke up."

It was a woman in her early thirties with brown hair and a mature, but beautiful face. She was wearing a white Chemise Gown and had a bowl of warm water in her hand. A man came in after hearing the woman's voice.

The man in his mid-thirties looked at me and said, "Oh Martha, this is a Miracle!"

He caught my hand to check my temperature. He was wearing a white sweater and trousers, and had short brown hair. He looked at my face, and as if he knew the questions in my head, he started answering them.

"Hello there, I'm Andrew. I found you in the forest. You were gravely injured, so I brought you here. You had a head injury which will take some time to recover. For a kid like you to survive such an injury, god really must have wanted you to survive. This is my house; I'm the village chief, so you don't have to worry about anything. Just rest for now."

I learned the woman was Martha, and the man was Andrew. Andrew was the village chief of the village I was in.

"Andrew, are you going to the farm now?" Martha asked.

"Yes, there's a lot of work to do today. I will be back in the evening. We have got a good harvest this year. I think we will be able to sell the crops and buy some clothes for the orphanage kids," Andrew replied.

"Okay, take care, and don't forget to take breaks between work. I have prepared some food for the afternoon, take it with you," Martha said when Andrew was about to leave.

"Okay, thank you, see you in the evening," Andrew replied and left.

After a week, I finally became able to speak and stand properly. I was still unable to walk properly, but I could at least eat by myself and move around by leaning onto the walls.

I remember everything from my past life and how I met God, but I had no idea how I ended up in this body that looks like a 15-year-old. My face looks different, and I had white hair and cyan colored eyes.

The couple thinks that I have amnesia. I haven't told them about my past life and the memories of how I met God since I thought that would make things odd.

"Wh-What's that?" I asked.

I was surprised since there was a red glow coming out of Martha's hand, and the water that wasn't even in the stove was boiling.

"What? Oh, this. I'm boiling water using magic. Since boiling water with magic is faster and easier than using the stove, I use fire magic to do it sometimes," Martha said as if it was a completely natural thing.

"What! Magic?" I said in surprise.

Martha looked confused, so I composed myself and asked, "Can everyone here use magic? This is my first-time seeing magic being used."

"That's odd, almost everyone can use magic here. Andrew used holy magic to heal you when you were unconscious, but you probably don't remember," Martha replied in a confused tone.

I still wasn't sure how to react to all of this. It was like what I used to see in fantasy animes back in my world.

"Sorry, I don't remember," I replied.

"Oh, don't worry about it too much. You are still recovering, so focus on that for now." Martha responded, looking at my worried face.

"Okay, thank you," I said, leaving the kitchen.

I later learned that this world has magic, and it was used in day to day works.

Andrew could use holy magic to heal wounds and cuts. He was the one who treated my wounds. Martha could use fire magic, which she uses in the kitchen.

There were magic appliances that operated on magic, which made life easier. Like magic heaters and magic stoves. You could make them work by supplying magic once every few hours. I wasn't totally sure how they worked, but I could figure that out slowly.

After a month, I was finally able to walk properly.

I learned that I was wearing a locket that had "Nara yan" written on it when they found me. The couple assumed it was my name. That was the only clue to my past in this world.

When I woke up, Martha came in with some tea and asked, "So, how are you feeling today?"

I took the cup of tea and replied, "I'm feeling fine. The headache is gone, and I can walk and do almost everything normally. Thank you for all your help."

"That's nice to hear. From today, you will be staying at the orphanage so that you can study about society and make friends. There are 5 kids at our orphanage. All of them are of your age now. Since the last great war ended and Andrew became the village chief, we had no homeless children. They are the only ones left at the orphanage," Martha said.

"Great war? I haven't heard anything about it, was it against the neighboring country?" I asked since it sounded like an important part of history here.

"It was a really horrifying time. Some demons attacked the towns 10 years ago and killed many knights and civilians. The royal magic knights came and finally defeated the demons. There haven't been any attacks since then, and things have become peaceful again," Martha replied.

'The history of this country sounds interesting.'

I had learned that this country was called The Fioreland Kingdom. It was ruled by the Royal family, and what they considered 'faithful nobles'.

I wanted to learn more about this country. But for now, since it looks like the orphanage was going to be my new home, I was excited to meet the children there.

"I am glad that the war ended, and it became peaceful again," I replied.

"I and Andrew are like parents to all those children. Since you will be joining them, you can ask us for anything you need help with," Martha said with a smile when she was about to leave the room.

"Thank you. I will work hard," I replied honestly.

After I finished drinking the tea, I got up and changed my clothes to the ones that Andrew had bought for me. It was a white T-shirt-like dress and black trousers.

I then went towards the sitting room, where Andrew was sitting in a chair and waiting for me.

When he saw me coming towards the sitting room, he asked, "Are you ready, Nara?"

"Yes, I am," I replied, and after that, we both headed out.

Since I hadn't gone outside the house before, this was my first time visiting outside. Martha had told me that the village was called Calm village. There were around 2500 people living in this village. Most of the houses were simple single floored houses with tin roofs.

The orphanage is near Andrew's house, just around ten minutes' walk. Since it was closer, Martha liked going there to spend time.

On the way, Andrew told me that both humans and demi-humans lived in this village. Half of the population was demi-human, which included cat people, dog people, and other demi-human races. There was no discrimination against demi-humans here, but in the areas that were ruled by other nobles, there is huge discrimination against them.

'Something smells good here.'

I looked towards the nearby shop to see they were selling meat skewers.

"Let's take some meat skewers for everyone," Andrew said when he saw me looking towards the shop

"Yes, it looks nice," I replied. After which we bought some meat skewers and took them with us.

After walking for a while, we arrived at the orphanage.

There was a well in front of the orphanage and a small beautiful flower garden near it. It was a one-story house with white walls and a red roof.
