Chapter 8.5: Charlotte’s Life

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough" - Mae West.

The great fifth war was on the rise. A war to free the enslaved Ice, Dark, and Astral Elves from the High, and regular Elves. This was one of the darkest times, because in most battles America was losing due to the lack of experience and understanding of their new magical prowess, yet they didn't give up.

But they were running low on soldiers, so they did something that left a horrible outlook on America since this war.

They began sending children over the age of fifteen into the war, due to their advanced creativity, and thus destructive capabilities.

And they were right! Due to the sheer natural understanding of magic, they managed to win, and free the other Elves from captivity.

But in doing so, they led to the genocide of the High Elves on accident, leaving these children to be harrassed, and shamed for something didn't know any better, and for things they wanted nothing to do with.

One of these kids was Charlotte. She had managed to survive about half of the war mostly based on luck. She barely did much but wanted to get that life behind her.

Within the following years, it was hard to find a job due to her involvement in the war, but tried her best with multiple part-time jobs, until something life-changing happened.

The MSO Association arrived.

The MSO or Monster Slayer Operation was a way to see who could lead the next generation to better themselves without using their magic for conflict purposes and to see who could be reliable to defend their home in case other phenomena were to occur.

She chose to join it, and in doing so managed to earn enough money to cover herself for a couple of years, it was also where she met Sam Thompson, her soon-to-be husband

When she first met Sam, he was a complete mystery, as many rumors flooded the business of his twisted outlook on magic and its purpose.

When Charlotte first met Sam, it was like love at first sight. He was mostly shy, outgoing, and free-minded about most things, yet he always had this threatening aura around him.

But Charlotte didn't care, she loved every bit of him regardless of the rumors she wa,s against them after learning what his true thoughts were.

Sam was an intellectual prodigy. Within the first ten years of his life span he managed to surpass most high school graduates level Iq, and by his adulthood had surpassed most well-known geniuses.

He didn't see magic as a weapon, but art. With the right focus, Sam went on to make world-changing discoveries about Void magic, and its ability to change things on an atomic level, but didn't receive the credit due to his low economic status, but he didn't care as long as this revolution came known.

They were happy for a very long time and were even more happy when their firstborn was born.

Celeste Thompson.

She had the eyes of her father, and the boldness of her mother, yet they wanted another child.

Thus Siren Thompson was born. With the eyes of Sam's Grandfather, and the potential of both his parents, there was nothing more that could've made their life better.

But happiness didn't last long.

Within a couple of years, strange phenomena started occurring, everywhere they went.

Void users began going missing, objects conveniently were thrown at their heads, and signs of threats were posted around their homes.

But the day before her birthday, something horrific happened.

Charlotte was knocked unconscious with an explosion to the face, and when she woke up... Her husband was pronounced dead. In that instance, Charlotte's world was destroyed. Everything her life was built up to was shattered due to a couple of words.

After the funeral, her worldview began to alter into something more cold, and aggressive.

Because she refused to lose anybody else, no matter how low she must stoop.
