27 27. Demon generals vs Soul emperor Drake

*Boom*

*Bang*

*Clank*

A fierce battle was going down between the Demon generals and the human sorcerers.

Athena didn't join the fight as she was on standby and would provide support while Vetina launched a barrage of ice spells.

The sorcerer in front of the other three conjured a barrier while his other three teammates were murmuring while scribbling something on the floor.

Gerain was like a flash of light as two bright blue wings burst out from his back and he flashed and vanished like lightning into the clouds.

"Grunt now!"

Evan wielded his long silver sword and charged forward with Grunt who carried a large hammer.

A golden aura surrounded Evan and Grunt as they got faster, charging towards the barrier. This is one of Evan's skills, it boosts the overall physical abilities and the target or himself.

*Bang*

The barrier broke immediately their attack hit. As they lunged forward to attack the sorcerer another barrier was erected, knocking the two generals backwards.

"I can't hold much longer, my soul energy is almost depleted, are you done?"

The sorcerer shielding the other three asked as he could feel himself getting weaker. The demon generals were more fierce and stronger than he thought.

"Yes. We're done!!"

These other three have been busy drawing a summoning circle for a soul emperor monster. They were going to use the monster to buy time for the soul monarch monster to be summoned.

*Grrrrr*

Lightning struck the barrier and it broke immediately. Following the lightning Gerain came down with almost the same speed as lightning. He slashed his sword at the leader of the sorcerers but the leader smiled and they all vanished. Gerain ended up slashing at thin air.

He regained his balance as he stood up and surveyed the surrounding.

"What happened?"

Athena came forward with the others to where the sorcerers vanished.

"They just vanished."

"Seems like teleportation."

Evan came forth and checked the spot that they teleported.

"Okay. Let's find that..."

*Brrrr*

A yellow light glowed beneath and they all leapt out of the area. Gerain grabbed Athena and jumped out of the area of the circle.

"What is that?"

"That's a soul emperor summoning circle." said Athena, the strongest demon Recesser.

'Wait a minute, didn't a soul emperor monster attack our home recently. It could be these people who plotted that one too' Vetina thought.

Their thoughts were interrupted when they saw a monster coming out of the circle. It was a dragon like creature with four limbs. It had black scales and the claws were black too. This creature is called a Drake as it doesn't have wings. A wingless dragon.

*ROOOOAAAARRR*

The drake, being summoned here without it's consent was extremely enraged as it let out a deafening roar.

The generals all covered their ears as it affected them too.

"Let's take it down quick."

Grunt charged at the beast with his hammer and shield. The monster looked at the charging demon. And that's when Athena noticed that there was one thing about the drake that they missed and Athena just noticed.

"Grunt stop!"

"Huh?.."

Grunt seems confused why Athena called him back but when he looked forward again, he saw the tail heading for him. The tail whipped him as he was knocked backwards. Luckily his shield took most of the impact and broke due to the spikes on the Drake's tail.

"Gerain, let's go. Athena, Vetina, watch our backs"

Evan began glowing with a golden light while Gerain started glowing a blue light.

"Gerain, take the skies." Evan ran forward.

Gerain unleashed his blue angel like wings and flew into the sky and dissappeared in a flash, clouds started gathering and lightning began striking Gerain while he absorbs it and charge an attack.

The drake saw the demons coming towards him and it's claws extended a little. It charged at Evan that was also charging at it. The drake slashed it's claws at Evan and he simply slides under the creature while slashing at it's legs.

To his surprise his attacks didn't even pierced the scales. Athena conjured a ball of flame and Vetina conjured an ice ball. They launched the attack simultaneously and it hit the drake right in the stomach.

A cloud of smoke covered the monster due to the explosion.

"Did we get him?"

Vetina started feeling anxious as they didn't see anything within the smoke. From inside the smoke two red reptile eyes suddenly shone and all the generals were shocked.

That was a combined elemental impact attack.

*Bwooooosshhh*

The drake suddenly breathed a stream of flames and the sorcerers erupted a barrier in front of them.

*Raaaaaaaaaaahh*

The flames continued burning the barrier. Even though the flames didn't actually pass the barrier, the heat was scorching.

Vetina placed her hand on the floor forming a spell. An ice pillar erupted under the drake and hit it right in the stomach, then it spread round the body and

Now more enraged, the creature's scales glowed red as it's speed increased greatly.

*BRRRR*

Lightning came down in a flash and struck the drake's body and it collapsed. Dust rose up and covered the creature and what attacked it.

Gerain, who was in front of the Drake suddenly turned around and began walking towards the rest of the team.

"Looks like it's down." Gerain said with a smile.

"Wait No! Behind you!"

Seeing Evan charge at him and pointing behind him Gerain looked back to see the Drake staring down at him.

It slashed Gerain down and killed him with one slash. It was just too fast for him and he didn't have any time to react.

"NOOOO. Gerai..ai..ain. Ahhhhhh!!!"

Athena cried out as she saw the body of Gerain not moving and bloody. They were in love with each other and was supposed to get married after this but... he's gone.

"Arrhhh!!"

Athena summoned the clouds and everywhere darkened. She stretched her staff and pointed towards the drake.

The clouds swirled around each other and visible lightning streaks were moving in the clouds.

Vetina suddenly raised her hand up. Ice began covering the Drake's leg as it struggled to move further.

"Thank you Vetina." Athena said before looking at the Drake with absolute hatred.

She waved the staff downwards and lighting fell like a river.

*BRRR..*

The skies were filled with white light and after the lightning stopped. The Drake remained on the floor with an open head which steaming blood rushed out from.

Athena fainted as she saw that the last spell killed the monster and also, her soul energy has been depleted.

"Hang on Athena" Vetina grabbed the falling Athena.

"Huff...huff"

Evan kept on standing, staring at the creature who was lying on the floor. He used one of his skills on it and saw that it was healing itself.

"It isn't dead" Evan shouted and raised his sword towards the creature, but his soul energy is almost depleted too.

The drake slowly stood up and looked at the last people. It walked towards them slowly with and angry expression.

"What's going on here?, the demon generals defeated by a mere soul emperor...tsk. I'm ashamed"

Vetina gritted her teeth as she recognised the voice. The creature looked up and saw a demon with white hair and blue dragon wings.

"Die!!"

He vanished and reappeared beneath the creature. Before the drake could react, it's throat was slashed by the demon sword which Damien wielded.

It's neck which was slashed glowed a blue light and in the next second, the drake's body lit on flames.

Some guards and Grunt ran to the scene. Turns out he called the demon Lord after he was knocked to the palace by the drake.

'That's true, Grunt. He must have gotten help after he got knocked away'

Evan then fainted due to exhaustion of energy. Grunt noticed this and immediately sent some guards to retrieve him.

"Take him to the infirmary!" Grunt ordered the guards.

The generals were taken back to the kingdom where they would get treated and Grunt, Damien and a dozen guards remain with Evan and Vetina.

Some of the guards took Gerain's body back to the kingdom so that they can give him a befitting burial while Athena was taken back to rest.

After a while of cleaning up the area Grunt went to speak to Damien who has sliced up the drake at retrieved it's soul emperor crystal.

"My Lord, we have not fully reached the place where the strange energy is emanating from when we were attacked by humans." Grunt seems to squeeze his fist as he mentioned 'humans'.

"Is that so?"

*Boom*

Turning around Damien saw a large portal open up in the distance. It looks like the energy fluctuations were coming from there.

"The...this is.. impossible"

Grunt almost fell to the ground when he saw what came out of the portal. Even Damien was shocked as his eyes were wide open.
