Replacement Bride for the Alpha of the North

A smug smile appeared on her step sister's lips when she finally revealed she was actually pregnant with her mate's child. Her father's futile attempt to apologize, for ignoring her all this time, because he had his own reasons and asked her to understand. A plea of forgiveness from her mate as he begged her not to reject him, claiming it was just a stupid mistake that he shouldn't have made. And to top it off, a cursed alpha from the north, to whom her step sister was actually promised, is here to collect his debt, so she has to take her place as the sacrifice now. Darn!

HER WORST NIGHTMARE

There must be a mistake here somewhere, because something like this could never happen to her. She must have heard it wrongly. There was no way Blake betrayed her. They were mates and this was the most sacred bond between two shifters.

He was supposed to be someone that Dawn would spend the rest of her life with.

"There must be a misunderstanding here…" Dawn looked dumbstruck, she was confused and when her father was about to hit Blake again, she covered his body with her own, as she hugged him. "Stop it! Let's talk! You are confusing me!"

Tony raised his hand with his claws emerging, this time, he really meant to kill Blake. He wanted to claw his heart out of his chest, but he couldn't do that because Dawn used her own body to protect this bastard.

"Scram Dawn! I am going to kill him!" Tony snarled, he felt so hurt for the sake of his daughter. How could her own mate betray her in such a horrendous way?

"No! You are not going to touch a single hair of his!" Dawn screamed back at her father, as she still hugged Blake, who was lying on the floor. Blood stained their dresses and she felt so sick at the smell of it. "You are not going to touch him until I get a proper explanation! Tell me what is going on!"

Tony gritted his teeth, anger flashed in his eyes, he battled with himself whether he wanted to continue or he needed to withdraw.

In the end, he lowered his hand and moved away from Blake's body, while Dawn started crying. She asked the Beta to call a healer and save Blake. She couldn't stand the sight of him dying like this.

Everything became very chaotic and blurry, as they tried to help Blake. The healer moved quickly, because a few wounds were so severe, they wouldn't close in time and Blake's healing ability wouldn't be able to keep up with it. Without the healing power from the healer, they could be sure that he was going to die from all the loss of blood.

Blake was carried back to his bedroom, where Dawn stayed by his side. She was still in denial, she was not ready to hear the explanation from her father, but when everything finally calmed down, she was the one who approached him.

"Beta Jason, can you please leave me and my father alone?" she asked once she entered the room.

Both her father and his beta were in the middle of a heated argument about something, but Dawn couldn't care less to know what they were talking about. Her best guess was they were arguing over the fact the Alpha almost beat Blake to his death, but she was not sure and didn't need to know.

"Alpha, you need to think about this matter carefully, we can't afford his wrath," Beta Jason said before he left Dawn alone with her father.

"Please, explain. What is going on? Why did you act recklessly and slap my mate with a nasty accusation? Explain everything to me." Dawn was ready for the worst, but even so, she still couldn't have prepared herself enough for what she was going to hear next.

The Alpha was sitting on his seat and he looked so tired. He no longer looked livid, but spent.

"Emily is pregnant. When we took her to the healer, she confirmed that your sister is pregnant."

"Stop saying that she is my sister! I have no sister!" Dawn roared, she had enough of being tied to her. "She can get pregnant by someone else, she could be lying about the baby's father! How can you believe her so easily? How can you believe her without investigating this matter first?! Why are you always biased toward her? I am your daughter, but not even once have you ever stood up for me ever since they came into the picture! Are you really my father?"

Tony narrowed his eyes. He looked so hurt with what Dawn said. His audacity to act as if he was the victim here made Dawn feel sick to her stomach.

This man was the Alpha of the pack, her own father, the person that she respected the most, but right now, the sight of him churned her stomach.

"Because he admitted it. Blake, your mate, admitted that he has an affair with Emily and he himself told me there is a high chance the baby is his. No. He is pretty sure the baby is his." Tony said those words without any emotion, while staring into Dawn's eyes. "I am sorry, baby. I am really sorry."

Dawn felt her world come crashing down and she fell to the floor. She wanted to scream and cry, she wanted to shout that what he told her was a lie, but she didn't have any strength left, she didn't know what her father said to her when he approached her and tried to calm her down.

"That's impossible… I am going to ask him. I will ask him. You are lying to me, father."

"I am sorry, baby. I am sorry, my daughter. I didn't think it would turn out like this. I am truly sorry."

Dawn pushed him away from her, as if she felt so disgusted. "You don't feel sorry for me. You only feel sorry for Emily. You stopped caring for me a long time ago."

"That's not it. That's not right. I did everything for you."

Dawn stood up. She braced herself to walk toward Blake's bedroom, wanting to wait until he woke up to get a clarification from him, whether he was really the father of Emily's baby, but when she was waiting for him, all the memories came flooding back to her mind.

Dawn remembered how Blake had been defending Emily lately and it all made sense now.

However, if she thought this was already the worst, she was completely wrong, because her actual nightmare came in the form of an alpha from the north.
