1 Prologue: Always and Forever

15 years earlier

It was night. A night like any other night at the Boarding School. It was mid November. There was a chilly breeze, as the wind swirled in the sky. The stars twinkled brightly. The hallways were quiet. Nothing was out of the ordinary. Nothing had been out of the ordinary for a while, but that only meant that everyone had let their guard down.

No one had noticed the barrier spell that was placed around the gates of the school, surrounding the entire school grounds, had been broken. The spell was meant to be so strong, it would be nearly impossible to break. Of course, everyone had expected, because things had been so normal, that the barrier spell was functioning. But soon, everyone would realize how very wrong they were.

It all happened quickly. One of the windows were smashed, and the alarm hadn't gone off. The main intruder walked through the school hallways, following his locator spell as the others stayed back. He reached his location, quietly opened the door, and silently slipped inside. The intruder looked around the dark room, and surely, there by the window, was the crib, with his target.

The intruder was halfway across the room, when one of the floorboards had cried out from under him as he stepped on it. The intruder quickly stepped off of the creaking floorboard and to the side, only to knock over some wooden blocks, damn baby toys, was all he could think.

Just as he began to move again the light flickered on, and the woman who had been sleeping on the bed stood by the light switch. The intruder ran for the baby, but the woman yelled a spell and caused him to go flying out one of the windows. This had fully awoken the man on the bed, who moments ago, was holding the woman as they slept.

Both the man and the woman looked at each other and made sure their precious child was okay. They then ran downstairs to go after the intruder, only to be met by the other intruders who were guarding the door. A fight broke out and the man ran upstairs to wake his friends, leaving the woman alone. She yelled many incantations of various spells as she defended herself and attacked, her eyes flickering between blue and gold.

As the man returned with a group of friends, the intruders began to flee. The friends followed, all a bit underdressed for the events that followed, because none of them had bothered to change after being woken up. The groups of friends finally caught up to the intruders when they were nearing the woods. Not wanting to let them get away, the woman, who's eyes still flickered between blue and gold, attacked with a spell. This caused a fight to break out, once again, but this time, it was an even fight.

As the fighting continued nearly 200 yards away from the school, the night sky erupted with light, and the roar of an explosion filled the air. The fighting stopped as the two groups turned to look toward the school.

"Oh my god.."

"The kids.."

Three men ran towards the school building to help the students and staff, and save their children. The others among the group stayed and continued fighting their attackers.

Some of the attackers had managed to sneak into the school, once again, to try to get the child everyone was so dearly trying to protect. At this point all the students had woken up, and were running around frantically. The older students helped fight the attackers. The witches among those students yelled spells, some to deflect the attacks, others, with the aid of a few witch teachers, to try and stop the fires within the school. The vampires and werewolves used all their strength and agility to catch some of the attacking witches off guard.

The man, whose child was the target, sprinted as fast as he could to his room. Students helped him get where he needed by blocking any of the attackers who tried to stop him, and controlling the fire to make a path for him. The smoke was thick and it got harder to breath as the man got closer to his room, but behind him the students were putting out the fire as best as they could. Once the man reached his room he kicked the door open. No fire or smoke had even entered the room. The man sighed in relief.

"Thank god you're okay." The man said, picking up his daughter, "You're just like your mother aren't you? Using your magic at such a young age. I have no doubt you'll be just as powerful as she was when I first met her." The little infant cooed at her father with a smile on her face as if she could completely understand what he was talking about.

Suddenly the man heard heavy breathing and footsteps. He turned around to see one of the attackers creating a ball of fire. Getting ready to aim and throw it at him.

"You don't have to do this! She's only an infant!" The father yelled.

"If we can't have her power, no one can!" As the attacker moved into the doorway, the father looked behind him, the window broken. "Nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide."

"That's where you're wrong!" Without hesitation the father turned and ran towards the window. He heard the fireball whoosh towards him and dodged at the right second. He held his daughter close to him and jumped out the window.

Back at the forest the fighting continued. The three witches held hands as they yelled spells, knocking their attackers back with waves of magic, shooting fires and using any other spells they could think of. The two vampires, among the witches, tried as best they could to fight the intruders, though this proved difficult, because the intruders were witches, and could easily bring them pain with a simple spell.

It had been about 15 minutes since the three men left to go help at the school. The three witches and two vampires have been giving it there all against the rest of the intruders. For 15 minutes straight the three young witches had been draining themselves of magic and pushing themselves well past their limit. But one of the three witches was becoming completely drained of her energy as the other two relied on her magic to be able to help. The more they continued fighting, the weaker she got, but she wouldn't tell the others.

Not until she began to stumble over, did the other two witches realize she didn't have much energy left in her. But more intruders kept coming, more people to fight, and they didn't have enough magic. Even if they began to rely on the vampires, they would soon run out of energy, as well as magic to siphon.

Just then a blaze of fire could be seen in the sky, coming towards the two groups that were fighting. When one looked closer, they could see that it wasn't just a ball of fire, but instead wings, of literal fire. And those wings belonged to none other, than the man who had jumped out the window to save his daughter. He began to descend when he saw his friends needed help. Though he still held his daughter in his arms.

When the father landed, he immediately saw the love of his life, weak. At this moment, some of the older students could be seen running towards them, ready to assist in the fight. The woman was really drained of energy, but yet she continued to fight, until she was blasted by a wave of magic and landed on her back, knocking the air out of her lungs. The father ran to his lover and noticed she wouldn't last longer if she continued to fight. Her face was pale and she looked exhausted.

In that moment an intruder came at them with a knife, but was blasted back by a wave of magic, casted by a student. The father looked at the student, smiling and mouthing a quick 'thank you,' then looked at his daughter, then at his lover, and knew what he had to do.

Handing his daughter to her mother he quickly said, "Go. Run. Take the baby and run. Don't stop running until you're far away from here."

"But I need to stay and fight, I can't just leave you here, and they need my help." Was the woman's response.

"I'll stay here and fight. Please. Go. I'll be okay, and so will everyone else, I promise, but I need to make sure that you and our baby are somewhere safe. So run."

The man looked around him. The students aided the adults as much as possible. He looked at the school and the fire had already been put out. He could see more students and even the teachers coming to aid the fight against the intruders. But he knew the safest place for his child, would be with her mother, far away from this battle.

"Please! Please you need to take her somewhere safe!" The man yelled as explosions began to go off.

The woman nodded and pulled the man in for a quick kiss. The kiss was full of love and fear, fear of what may happen next. The women pulled away and quietly said, "I love you," before she began to get up.

"I love you too."

"Always and forever."

The man smiled, "always and forever." He reached into his pocket and revealed a necklace. He put it around his child's neck, then lightly kissed her on the forehead. "I will come back to you, my princess. I love you," He then took off his own bracelet and necklace and put them on his lover, "and I will come back to you too, my love."

The fight around them had gotten even worse as their friends began to attempt to keep the attackers away from them, to give them and the baby more time. The man hugged his lover, "Now go, as far as possible. Don't come back until I come and find you, or one of the twins."

With that the mother nodded, then turned and ran, her child in her arms. She ran deeper into the woods and as fast as possible. When she reached the gate she carefully climbed over it.

Back at the fight, the group of friends, students, and teachers all began to fight harder, blasting the attackers in the air, punching them to the ground, and blinding them with spells. The father was at the center of it all. He then saw the leader flee, and ran after him, somewhere deeper into the woods. That's where the story gets complicated.

It was just the father and the leader of the attackers, alone, in that part of the woods. No one was around, the closest person would barely be able to hear them. But all that was heard were screams and cries, then a bright flash of light filled the whole area, even reaching the school. When this light reached over the school's entire grounds, it was warm, and felt full of love. This light caused pain to the intruders and they all fled, disappearing into the night.

The origin of the light had come from where the father and the leader were. The screams ended when the light disappeared. And no one came out from the area the father ran into. After hours, when it was finally day, the father still had not come out of those woods. His groups of friends took turns watching the woods, waiting for him to come out. Hoping he would come out.

But, he never did.
