There was a medium-sized mortal village named Silver Moon. Due to its unique remote location, rarely did any independent cultivators choose to stay there. As a result, the village was mostly safe and protected from dangers.

On the current day, unlike usual, all the villagers were present at the centre of the village. All the adults were standing at one corner while their children, who were around 10-15 years old, were quietly standing before the village head, some of them look confused and while some had a excited expression.

"Quiet!" The village head, who was a middle-aged robust man shouted.

He looked quite pleased when every children became silent after his voice and coughed before saying, "Immortal one will be here at anytime by now, so stay quiet and don't create problem for our village!"

After done reminding all the children once again, robust man turned his head towards the mountain range. That was the place from where the Immortal Path Sect's members would come to pick new disciples at their village once a decade.

Like many other villages near the boundary and within, Silver Moon village also had to pay a certain price for their protection, though it was only in the name. Even though Immortal pick disciples in the excuse of protection, they had to just go with the flow. If not, then the fate of their village would be the same as many others who were destroyed the following day after declining the Immortals.

Most of the parents had a worried expression after seeing their children covered in sweat completely. Still, not a single one of them had the guts to do something about it. They just stayed rooted in their position, waiting for the Immortal's arrival.

One of the children, who was as obese as a pig and appeared to be around 12 years old, looked extremely exhausted after standing for so long. He was drenched in sweat, and his clothes were completely soaked. Most of the children, especially the young girls, stayed far away from him due to the unpleasant smell emanating from his sweating body. Even his sole best friend, whom he had known since childhood, didn't want to stay close to him.

"This bastard, why is he so far away from me?" Fatty murmured to himself.

Feeling angry, he wanted to go knock some sense into him but suddenly the moment he step forward his immature mind went blank and he fell down on the ground.

"Ah!" The children behind him started to shriek after the sudden change. The unmoving body of fatty was what shocked them so much.

This turn of event attracted the attention of adults and the village head. The robust man noticed the situation, then quickly ran toward the fatty and squatted near him. He didn't mind the foul smell and immediately tried to shake him.

"Die he die from the heat? That shouldn't be possible..." The village head had a stupid thought. However, that soon was replaced by concern and worry.

The other children had a frightened expression on their faces, especially Fatty's friend, who was even feeling more guilty than others.

On the other hand, just as the hand of village head was about to touch Fatty, his immature eyes suddenly opened. But, if someone who knew him from childhood were to see his eyes right now, they would be shocked. Unlike before, his gaze now was sharp and filled with maturity, completely different from his personality.

The moment his eyes opened, multiples thoughts swept through his mind.

"I was about to die... Where am I?"

The robust man noticed that Fatty's eyes had opened so he sighed in relief. "Stand up, Qiang Lin! Immortals are about to arrive! Don't cause problem." Said that, he was about to leave, but out of concern he gave him his gourd filled with water and left before saying, "Drink it quickly."

Qiang Lin grabbed the gourd and felt weird upon noticing his surroundings. "What's going on, how does he know my name? Hmm, their dresses are weird... Wait, did he say Immortals are coming?!"

Sacred and astounded by what robust man just said, his gaze suddenly fell on the skinny boy who was coming towards his direction.

"Are you alright? You scared me for a moment!" The skinny boy said, his gaze locked in his direction.

Not sure what to say to this unfamiliar child, Qiang Lin simply nodded. "I'm fine," he said while removing the cork from the gourd.

The skinny boy didn't ask anything further and stood there silently. Although, his eyes constantly linger on the Fatty, who was drinking water slowly. He could tell that there was something wrong about him, but he couldn't tell what it was.

Next, just as he was about to ask him something, the village head's voice entered his ears, "Immortals are coming! Don't cause any trouble! Stay still and don't make any stupid noises!!"

The skinny boy gazed at the Fire Bird Mountain range and noticed a person flying towards their direction at an extremely fast pace.

*Thud* *Splash*

The noise of the gourd shattering and water splashing entered his ears. It was Fatty's gourd that slipped from his hand. Turning his head to look at his face, he could see his nervousness and fear written on his face clearly, which was obvious since it was the same for him.

However, if he knew what was going through Fatty's mind, he would be startled.
