Mei Lin

In the end... We broke up after a long time we've been together. So I took my crying self and sat on the sofa, curled in a ball and cried myself to sleep.

But I had not been sleeping long when I was startled by a sudden knock on the door. I sat up and looked around the room, eyes swollen and red.

"Babe. Wen Wen, are you in there?" I heard a familiar voice say as she pounded on the door.

I got up from the couch and stumbled to open the door. Mei Lin always seemed to know when I needed her most. She threw her hands up in the air as I opened the door for her.

"Babe, it is about time, I thought I was going to have to break down the door if you came a bit late!" She put her arms around me and hugged me tightly.

So I motioned for her to come in as she pushed her way through and set a large brown bag on the table.

"So I come to make my besties full and be with you after that bastard left," she smiled as she rummaged through the bag.

She removed the boxes of Chinese food and set them on the table.

"We have Mongolian Beef, Lettuce Wraps, Chicken Fried Rice, Wonton soup and chocolate ice cream for dessert."

Her grin went from ear to ear but quickly fell as I dropped my head and curled back up on the sofa.

Mei Lin sighed heavily as she walked over and sat next to me.

"Babe. Mo Ting texted me and said to me that two of you had fallen out and he left. So he wanted me to come over to check on you and make sure you were fine or not." She said.

Then I lifted my head from my arms.

Wait!

Who is he that did he thought he was sending my best friend over to check out if I was okay or not after he left? Seriously?

I thought as anger burned inside me.

"He said he left because of the relationship of you two had being craggy," She added.

"What? What did that bastard think? Are we married?" I growled.

Mei Lin gave me a sympathetic smile and walked to the kitchen to grab plates and silverware for the food sitting on the table. I could not stop thinking about that bastard ex-boyfriend and how he just find a cheap excuse to left me.

In past, even we were never apart for more than a couple of days, but now I think we'd be able to be apart forever. Even once again I was left alone. Though I knew the reason why he decided to leave, but still for that reason I hated him now.

Actually, I gave him every opportunity to tell me the truth, but a coward he could not even look me in the eye to do that.

Damn it! He was a coward, now I decide that I had no room in my life for a coward like him anymore.

So I got up even though I felt sick to my stomach but still made my way to the table as Mei Lin put some food on my plate.

"Listen, Ru Wen, Mo Ting is a bastard and I'm sorry for you wasted the last four years of your life being with that bastard. But babe, I think now you need to focus on something else. You need to finish your paintings and get them to show over to the art gallery so people can find out who Lee Ru Wen truly is," she said waving her fork around.

I lightly smiled because I knew what Mei Lin said was right. And if there was one way I could escape the hurt and loneliness, it was through my paintings. She reached over and put her arm around me and gave me a warm squeeze.

"Don't worry, Wen Wen. I'll  always be here for you." She assured me.

Actually, I met Mei Lin at the art gallery on the day that I stopped by to talk to the owner about displaying my paintings.

At the minute, she saw me, she asked.

"May I help you, Miss?"

Best Friend Always There. Cheer me up...
