Chapter 11: My first test.

Janet's POV

Once he let out a loud scream after I had struck him, all the anger I was feeling towards him for calling me a weakling disappeared immediately and was replaced with guilt.

"Leroy I'm sorry; I shouldn't have allowed my anger to take over me," I said to him. My voice was filled with regrets.

"It's okay, Janet, don't stop beating yourself in grief; after all, I was the one who asked you to attack me," he said to me while holding his arm that was still bleeding.

Without hesitating, I ran to where we left our bag and took water and tissue that I would use to clean up the wound.

As I was cleaning up the wound, I couldn't help but feel guilty, as he kept shrieking in pain whenever I cleaned the opening of the wound.

"Leroy I'm sorry." I apologized to him once again.

"Come on, Janet, I have told you to stop apologizing to me; you didn't do anything wrong. I'm a soldier, so I'm already used to getting injured," he said to me with a warm smile.

"I'm the one who is supposed to be apologizing to you for calling you a weakling," he said to me with a warm smile.

"So that means I'm not a weakling?" I asked him while tying his injured arm.

"No, you aren't; you are a very strong and courageous werewolf," he said to me.

"I knew it," I blurted out. "Don't you dare call me a weakling again," I said to him while tightening the cloth I was using to cover his wound, and immediately he let out a loud scream.

"I'm done," I said to him while standing up.

"Thank you, Janet," he said to me.

"Don't mention it," I replied before returning the things I used in cleaning up his wound to the bag.

Because of his injury, we couldn't travel as far as we used to.

We only traveled a short distance before the evening darkness caught up on us.

When we found a perfect spot to camp for the night, I decided to go and do the hunting while he set up the fire.

"So Janet, what information do you have about your real parents?" He asked me as we were eating our dinner.

"Before my foster parents execution, they gave me their names and also their picture," I said to him while munching the roasted meat that was in my mouth.

"But do you think that I will be able to find them?" I asked him.

"Yes, we will, as long as they are still alive. When we get to Moonstone Pack, my friends over there will help you find them," he said to me.

"Thank you so much, Leroy; sometimes I ask myself how I'm going to be able to repay you back for all your kindness towards me," I said to him.

"You are my younger sister, so I'm not expecting anything in return," he said to me with a warm smile.

"By the way, if I have good news and bad news, which one would you like to hear first?" He asked me, and immediately I furrowed my brows at him.

"The good news first," I said to him.

"The good news is that we are some meters away from Moonstone Pack, so it's likely possible that we will get to Moonstone Pack tomorrow," he announced to me.

"Wow, that's really good news. I can't wait to get there in order to start a new life," I said to him.

"So what's the bad news?" I asked him.

"Well, the bad news is that we need to separate before getting there; we can't enter Moonstone Pack together," he said to me.

Once he broke the news to me, my facial expressions changed immediately.

"But why?" I asked him with a dejected tone.

"Well, the same way Oz Pack is to you is the same way Moonstone Pack is to me; I have many friends over there and also many enemies.

I will only be putting you in danger if we enter together, so it would be wise if I went ahead of you; we would meet ourselves over," he explained to me.

"I hope you aren't going to abandon me too." I asked him with a dejected tone.

"Come on, Janet, I will never abandon you; we will meet ourselves on the other side," he said to me reassuringly, and I faked a smile.

As we were still enjoying our meal while discussing it, he brusquely kept quiet.

"Is everything okay?" I asked him with a worried tone.

Without replying to me, he started sniffing around.

"We have company," he said to me after some sniffing around for a few seconds.

"What are we going to do?" I whispered to him in a worried tone.

"Well, you have to fight against them; you know perfectly well that my right hand is injured, so it's out of question that I fight with a wounded hand," he said to me. Not minding the fact that I was already trembling in fear.

"What!" I exclaimed in terror. First of all, how many are they?" I asked him with a terrified tone.

"There are three in number, if I'm not mistaken," he said to me.

"What!" How do you expect me to fight against three rogues together? I'm a lady for crying out loud," I said to him with a terrified tone.

"Really, I never knew that. If you can't fight against them, then just know that we are going to die because we don't have any valuable things to offer them, and don't even think about shifting into your wolf form because you will only be attracting another set of rogues towards us," he said to me.

"Come on, Leroy, just tell me that this is a joke. I know that you are not afraid of dying, but I'm still too young to die. I still have a bright future ahead of me," I said to him with a terrified tone, but he remained indifferent; instead, he shook his head in disbelief.

"Janet, I will advise you to pick up your sword and get ready because they are here already." He said this to me, and immediately I widened my eyes in surprise.

Without hesitating, I ran to where our bag was and picked up my sword.

"Where are they?" I asked Leroy while feigning to be courageous.

"Just behind you," he said to me.

Once I turned back, I saw three huge men standing behind us. From their facial expressions, it was clear that they didn't come in peace.

They were all holding a weapon; the two on the right and left sides were holding a sword like me, while the third person in the middle was holding an axe.

When they saw how I was standing boldly before them with my sword, they looked at each other and shook their heads disapprovingly before grinning wickedly at me.

With that, I swallowed hard.

Am I the only one here who's heart is beating?
