1 Chapter 1: The Unexpected Rejection

Janet's POV

"I, Tony Darlington, the future Alpha of Oz Pack, reject you, Janet Benson, as my mate and the future Luna of Oz Pack," he said. There was a lack of emotion on his face, and his eyes bored into me with an icy glare.

With that statement, my heart shattered into pieces.

"What! Why!" I asked him with a shaky tone.

"What! Why!" I asked him with a shaky tone.

"I need a strong female to bear for me strong alpha pups, and honestly, you are not the one," he said. His glare arrayed his hatred.

That statement felt like the piercing of a sword in my wound.

"How dare you call me a weakling?" I asked him angrily, not minding the fact that he is the future Alpha.

"Ooh, I'm sorry, my lady. I didn't realize that you were hurt by my words, but what I said is just the truth, and it's written all over your face," he said, ignoring the fact that I was on the edge of breaking down in tears.

Without uttering any other word, I quickly ran inside the classroom with tears already streaming down my cheeks, picked up my school bag, and started running towards the garage where my car was parked.

I have already heard people talking about heartbreak, but I never imagined that it would be this painful.

Once I got to the garage, I entered my car and zoomed off with many questions running through my mind.

"How could he reject me?"

"What did I do to deserve such treatment?"

"Am I a weakling, just as he said?"

As these questions were running through my mind, I couldn't help but shed uncontrollable tears.

I was lost in my thoughts to the extent that I forgot that I was driving.

I was jerked back to reality by the horn of the car that was coming towards me.

"Oh my gosh." I muttered to myself while fighting with the steering of the car in order to avoid colliding with the car that was coming right at me.

My heart climbed up my throat at the sight of the other car. The panic surged as I tried to regain control of the car.

As I was still trying to avoid the collision, I tried slowing down, but unfortunately, the brakes weren't working.

"No! No! No! I screamed in horror, my heart pounding heavily.

Without hesitating, I quickly turned the steering towards the left side, and immediately my car made its way to the central park that was filled with people.

As soon as the people around me noticed the speed at which my car was arriving, they started scurrying away in every direction to avoid being hit by my car.

I nearly puked on myself while struggling through all means to stop the car, but all my efforts proved abortive.

The car kept on speeding furiously in the central park while heading in the direction of the huge tree that was in the garden.

It was then that it dawned on me that I was done for.

For the first time in my life, I was seeing death face-to-face and just as they say, all the images of the good moments you had in life will start replying in your head when you are about to die. That was exactly what I was seeing.

The good moments I spent with my parents and with my friends at home and at school

Knowing that there was nothing else I could do to save myself, I slightly closed my eyes while letting go of the steering.

As the car was fast approaching the huge tree, I couldn't help but shed tears uncontrollably. I could clearly hear the sound of my heart pounding heavily.

"Ooh, moon goddess, please save me." I prayed solemnly, and in no seconds, the car smashed into the huge tree, and immediately I passed out.

I woke up some hours later with an inexplicable headache.

"Where am I, and how did I get here?" I questioned myself while opening my eyes slightly.

Once I opened my eyes, I realized that an IV bag was connected to my hand, and immediately I realized that I was in the hospital. As soon as I turned around, I saw my mom, who was sitting on the steel chair in my ward with her head bent down.

Possibly she dozed off and slept while waiting for me to wake up.

"Mum, mom," I called out to her, and immediately she raised her head up and saw me. She quickly ran towards me.

"Hey, my angel, how are you feeling?" My mom asked me with a worried tone.

"I'm fine, mom, but how did I get here? I asked my mom while trying to remember how I got to the hospital.

"The person that brought you to the hospital said that you smashed the car into a tree," my mom said to me.

"By that time, they had called normally. You were supposed to be at school, so why did you leave school that early?" My mom asked me, and immediately I started remembering what that was.

"It's because of that bastard of my mate; he rejected me," I said to my mom. My voice was filled with great sorrow.

"Oh my baby girl, sorry for that; it's his loss. You will surely find another mate that will love and cherish you," my mom consoled, and I nodded without replying.

"By the way, who is he?" My mom asked me.

"Mum, I don't want to talk about it," I replied without looking at her.

"Will you at least tell me who he is? I'm your mother, so I have the right to know," my mom insisted.

As I was about to reply, the doctor came in and interrupted our discussion.

Once he came, he did some check-ups on me, after which he informed my mom that I was free to go.

We silently drove from the hospital to our house without saying anything to each other.

When we returned, I immediately stepped down from the car and went inside so that my mom wouldn't continue asking me about my mate who rejected me.

Well, we all know that when mothers have made up their minds to know something, there is nothing that is going to stop them from knowing it.

As I was still in my room removing my clothes, she opened the door and came in without even knocking.

"Come on, mom, can't you knock at least?" I asked her while feigning to be angry, but immediately she gave an angry stare, and I looked away.

"Are you going to tell me who your mate is or not?" My mom asked me once again.

"Mum, he isn't my mate; he was my mate, but he stopped being my mate when he rejected messages," I said to her while feigning to be angry.

"OK, I understand. Will you at least tell me who he is?" She asked me again.

"But mom, what good is it going to do you to know who he is? He has rejected me, so all I want to do now is move on with my life," I said to my mom in order to dissuade her from trying to find out who he is."

"Will you tell me who he is?" My mom said this to me, but this time with an angry tone, and from her facial expressions, I could already tell that she was going to bring down hell if I didn't answer her question this time around.

"It's the future, Alpha," I said to her after hesitating for some minutes.

"What!" How dare he treat you like that? I'm going to see the Alpha because of this," she said while leaving my room. From her facial expressions, I could easily tell that she meant what she was saying.

Well, that was the reason.

why I never wanted to tell her, because I knew that once she found out, she was going to do something drastic.

"Mum, mom," I called from behind while trying to stop her, but before I could come out, she had already left.
