After Martha's whipped daughters were returned to the room, bearing the bruised and bleeding marks of their unfortunate family's name, Martha and her husband were taken next.

The daughters kept crying helplessly and in a lot of pain as other family members crowded them, to know what the kidnappers had done to them.

"Sorry, Katie. Did they say what they wanted?" Florence asked stroking the broken young lady's hair.

"Leave me alone." Katie pushed her aunty's hand off with all her remaining strength. "Don't touch me. I...hate this family!" She wept bitterly.

"Me too!" Katie's younger sister, who always kept to herself, reiterated her sister's pain. "I hate this family and I wish I was never born into it."

Rosemary wanted to scold the crying young ladies for their cold remarks. But she could understand their pain and decided to reserve her comments.
