1 Chapter 1: Today the World Ends

"Gooooood Morning! People of Tsukana! Hope you all enjoyed the nice change of pace that cold front brought last night! Overnight we experienced temperatures that dipped down into the fifties. Making people's power bills just a bit cheaper this month. This weather is due to continue for the next couple of days, followed by a nice warm weekend. Good for a nice weekend at the beach." The soothing voice of the news broadcaster spoke through the speakers of a lone television. Sitting on a blood stained stand. Just a few feet away from the television. Was a twitching body. Well what remained of one.

As over the body. Was a living corpse. Feasting upon the flesh of the poor person.

This was the current state of the Japanese city of Tsukana. One moment everything was normal as any day should be. In the next. The world as they knew it was completely turned upside down.

Running through the streets. A small group of people scurried to find a safe place. As the last they had found soon became overwhelmed by the undead. And as a result. They lost two in the process.

In the middle of the group was a young man with black hair. Wearing a black T-shirt and beat up jeans.

"Spirit watch out!" The shrill of the brunette directly behind him as an undead lunged out from the shadows of an alleyway.

Eyes widening. Spirit gripped the nearly broken broomstick tightly in his hand. As he spun to at least keep it from biting into his flesh. Fortunately the zombie was met with a kendo stick to the face. Sending it stumbling back from the force. A blonde haired man was on the giving end of it.

This man's name was Dylan. He was on vacation from America when the outbreak occurred. Unfortunately for them. The undead didn't care about whether you were a student or on vacation.

And Tsukana city was a dangerous place to be in with its population density. Being split into two main districts. The city district. Where everyone went to work, shop, and take care of their every need. And the rural district. Where the majority of the older generations of families resided. Which included most of their group.

Spirit Amagai, Tsuki Raito, Yui Nakabane, and Kuro. All were from the Rural District. Where the population density wasn't too high. At least, not compared to that of the city.

Being helped up by Kuro. Spirit immediately rushed forward to help Dylan push it back. But before he could get close enough. Dylan had managed to cave its head in with the Kendo sword. Standing over the dead body. His face pale. Feeling his heart racing from the mix of adrenaline, and fear. Knees weakening. Dylan found himself giving in. And vomiting next to the officially dead corpse.

He hadn't intended on killing the poor soul. He truly hadn't. He was just trying to hold it back so that Spirit hadn't been bit. And that had come at the cost of another's life.

"Dylan! We need to hurry! More of them are coming!" Spirit yelled grabbing the mans shoulder in an attempt to help him get up. Eventually he forced himself to his feet. The kid was right. They needed to hurry. Or else they would be next. Next to be feasted on by these sick people. Who had no control over what they were doing. They just acted.

When everything happened. It happened swiftly. Having started with a few sickly individuals. Being administered to local hospitals with severe bite wounds, high fevers, and strong fatigue. Within hours their conditions worsened. And eventually. They turned. With what had started out as an seemingly isolated incident. Spread before the city or the government could get ahold of the situation. And by the time they were ready to handle it. Hundreds to even thousands of people were infected in merely twelve hours. As the infection spread out from the hospitals, consuming the city. Leaving only an unknown number of people free of the infection.

The last thing the young students of the group had heard from the PA system was. 'Hurry home to your families students! A state of emergency has been declared! Go stay with your families until the situation is handled!'

They had tried to leave the school grounds the way they normally would. But the entire crowd of students trying to make their way home. Was met with a horde of the infected. A horde of the living dead. Before they knew it. It had became a blood bath. Ending with most of the students. Unfortunately becoming additional members to the undead horde.

And in that time of barely making it out of the areas with the highest density points. They met Dylan, who at the time was with another small group. All strangers having banded together in order to just simply survive. Unfortunately through a instance of a not-so-well planned out events. Most of the group that Dylan had been previously been travelling with. Had joined the undead horde.

"This way over here! We can pass through the Love Hotel!" Tsuki yelled. Directing the small group away from the open streets. Where things were continuing to get far more dangerous than before. With more undead popping up from around almost every nook and cranny the city had to offer. It was a good idea for them to get off the street. Even better if they could do it in a manner that allowed them to rest. For most of them had been running pushing themselves to their limits just to survive.

"Hey Spirit. You thinking what I'm thinking?" Kazui asked giving him a perverted wiggle of his brows. Earning a groan of disgust from Yui.

"This is definitely not the time for your perverted games Kazui. It is a Love Hotel so what? Grow some brains for a change and just enjoy the fact you can enter one without being ID'd." Yui scolded the young man who was her senior. As they all entered the Hotel. And quickly began to process of boarding up the easily accessible doors.

They had to if they wanted to survive to meet their goal. Which was simple. Escape the city, and make it to the rural district. Which in the terms of their current knowledge. Should be far safer than being inside of the city. They could even reunite with their families.
