25 I Cannot Open My Heart

In a small and simple house located on the outskirts of the city, a woman seemed to be contemplating while stroking her stomach which had begun to grow. She imagined herself standing at the altar with the man she loved, but he was already engaged to the daughter of the owner of Chicago's largest fashion and insurance company.

She lived with her parents and sister in the city to stay away from Andy who is still searching for her. Elizabeth just wanted to live in peace while waiting for the birth of her first child, she continued to work as a writer to fulfill the needs of Elizabeth and her family.

Before she met Andy in Beijing a few years ago, she was both a romance novelist and a journalist. She really liked her job, even though her grandparents didn't approve of their grandson working in that field.

From the past until now, Elizabeth's maternal grandparents had always been more dominant than her own parents. They were very protective of Elizabeth as well as her younger sister, Amanda.

It's different with their parents who always supported whatever decisions Elizabeth and Amanda made. During the day at the house which was located near the forest away from the crowds, Elizabeth just daydreamed and daydreamed making Kelly worried about her and her future grandchildren.

She saw Elizabeth sitting on the terrace with a sad and pale face and then approached her daughter. She sat down next to Elizabeth and asked her to chat.

"My Daughter, why are you daydreaming? What are you thinking?" Kelly asked softly.

Elizabeth was still so lost in her thoughts that she didn't realize that Kelly was next to Elzabeth. Kelly looked into Elizabeth's clear and beautiful eyes filled with tears of sadness because she couldn't marry Andy while she was pregnant with the man.

Kelly got up from her seat, approached Elizabeth, gently stroked her head, then hugged Elizabeth tightly. "If you want to cry, cry as much as you want. I know what you are feeling right now. You really love Andy and want to be his wife, but you two aren't meant to be. I ask that you forget your ex-boyfriend and start opening your heart to another man."

Elizabeth faintly heard Kelly's voice advising her, she slowly woke up from her daydream, her hands were wrapped around Kelly's waist, and suddenly she burst into tears.

"Mom ... I can't open my heart to another man. I just love—love Andy ..." Elizabeth said sobbing.

"I understand, but Mr. Charlie doesn't approve of your relationship because we are not a rich and respected family like Mr. Charlie's family. My advice is to forget him and focus on what is in front of you." Kelly advised her.

"I have tried to forget him, but the image of Andy's face always comes to my mind. His sweet and soothing smile, as well as his perfect handsomeness always reminds me of him. He is a warm man and truly loves me." Elizabeth removed her hand from Kelly's waist, then she shrank back the tears that were still flowing out.

Her heart ached as if it were being sliced by a sharp and shiny knife. Elizabeth's head suddenly throbbed, her face and lips grew paler. Her body was getting weaker because since this morning until noon she had not eaten any food at all.

Elizabeth leaned her head and body on the wooden chair to calm her thoughts for a moment, while Kelly sat back down next to her daughter. "Mom ... my head is dizzy, I want to rest for a while."

"Alright, you just rest first. Do you want Mother to take you to your room?" Kelly asked, worried about Elizabeth's condition.

Elizabeth shook her head slowly. "No need, I will just be here."

"That's it. You don't cry anymore, My Daughter. If you are sad and cry, the child in your womb will also feel the sadness of its mother."

Elizabeth nodded at Kelly, then she closed her eyes and adjusted her seat to make her body and big belly more comfortable.

Elizabeth stroked her stomach as she thought to herself. "Andy, I hope you and Miss Luna live happily ever after.

While Elizabeth was resting for a while on the terrace, a handsome and simple-looking man watched her from across Elizabeth's house.

Who was that man? Did he like Elizabeth or did he feel sorry for Andy's ex-girlfriend?
