1 I. Fate says otherwise

Steve Carmain is a noble family of Dutch and Indonesian descent. His good looks and intelligence are admired by many people. He is very good at playing the sword and the violin. His father was a Dutchman, who worked as a tax collector at the time. While his mother is an Indonesian who has a royal lineage.

His father was known to be very cruel and feared by many people at that time. Unlike his mother, Steve's mother was very kind. Her mother always helps people in need at that time.

His mother taught Steve not to follow in his father's greedy footsteps. Steve also heard and obeyed all the words of his mother. Steve's mother did not want her son to grow up greedy like his father.

Steve's house is huge and there are a lot of poor girls who work there for various reasons and problems. One day a new maid was working at her house. The maid's name was Lyra Vanessa. Her face was beautiful and very kind, which made Steve flinch at first glance.

Every day, Lyra was assigned to make and bring breakfast to Steve's room every morning. Steve was very happy to see Lyra every morning bringing his breakfast. Steve sometimes forced Lyra to have breakfast together.

They ended up having breakfast together every day. The two of them always talk with warm and harmonious topics of conversation. Makes them have a special world that is not known to everyone. Every day, their love grows. Steve promised Lyra, would make Lyra happy forever.

The smile on Lyra's lips made Steve forget who Lyra was. In those days, servants were considered very lowly. And it's inappropriate to have a relationship with a noble family. However, Steve didn't mind it. For him, everything is the same.

Steve is 20 years old, Steve's father wants to set him up with a girl in the border area who both have royal blood. Steve rejected that and chose Lyra. His father didn't agree with that, he wanted his son to marry a noble girl, not a maid.

Lyra, knowing this, became hesitant, but Steve continued to convince Lyra not to just end the relationship they had built. One day, the day before his wedding, Steve hatches a plan to run away from home with Lyra. He does not want to have to obey his father's evil wishes, because he has the right to choose.

Steve and Lyra left the house at night, they went through the back door and took the food Lyra had prepared beforehand. At first, Lyra was afraid to run away from home with Steve. But to fight for her love for Steve, Lyra will do the same thing as Steve did to her. They ran further and further into the forest.

On the day of the wedding, Steve's mother came to Steve's room early in the morning to wake Steve up. Upon entering the room, Steve's mother was surprised to see Steve not in his room. Then Steve's father told his men to look for Steve until they could. Steve's father is very angry and intends to kill his son later.

Steve didn't know that his and Lyra's life was in danger. His father's men have searched everywhere to find Steve. However, not a single trace of Steve was found. When Steve rested under a tree, from a distance he saw some of his father's men were looking for him. Steve decided to flee further.

They kept going until night fell. In the evening, Steve made a bonfire and hoped it wouldn't rain tonight. He saw Lyra trying to warm herself up. Steve brought out the food Lyra had brought yesterday, and Steve warmed the food.

Their laughter colored the night. Steve hugged Lyra tightly and promised to take care of Lyra with all his heart. Slowly they both began to drift away in each other's dreams.

Three days have passed, and Steve is still missing. One of the maids also felt it had been 3 days, and she didn't see where Lyra was. "Is Lyra gone too?" asked a maid.

Steve's mother is very concerned about the safety of Steve and Lyra who has not been found and wishes them both well.

The chirping and warmth of the sun began to be felt. Steve said good morning and Lyra smiled. The two of them started to cover their tracks and decided to continue on this directionless journey. Steve's hand always faithfully gripped Lyra's hand tightly.

"Do you believe in reincarnation?" asked Steve.

"Yes, I believe that. Just like being reborn in a different world with a different form, it can be an animal or a human," Lyra replied.

"Yeah, you're right Lyra. If we die later, do you want us to be reborn and live together again?"

"Sure, Steve. I want to be born again and live with you, Steve" Lyra said happily.

Steve took a deep breath and turned to Lyra. "Okay, if I was born as a cat and you as a human, how? Will you accept my form as a cute cat?"

"I don't care, Steve, I'll still love you."

"Thank you, Lyra. But, according to people, even my mother said if you reincarnate later. Some possibilities that will happen later, we don't remember who we are. What do you think, if you are reborn and don't remember anything?" asked Steve.

"If we're meant to be together until we're born again, we'll meet again, Steve. Even if we don't remember anything," Lyra replied.

"I hope fate doesn't erase the sweet memories in my head when I was born again."

Both of them are very happy and have a goal and hope that they dream of, which is to be reincarnated. Hopefully, a miracle will come one day.

Steve and Lyra walked further and further. Finally, they took shelter for a short break and lunch. Steve went to look for water because the water they brought had run out and there happened to be a river not far from where they rested.

By the time Steve fetched the water. Steve heard people talking. The person's voice was familiar to Steve's ears. Steve decided to hide in the bushes and listen to their conversation.

"We've got to find Steve and Lyra quickly. If we don't find them soon, we'll have our heads cut off."

Steve thinks how did his father's men get here?

Finally, Steve rushed over to Lyra who was sitting, massaging her feet. "Lyra, our whereabouts are not safe. My father's men are around here, I overheard their conversation earlier."

They quickly packed their things and left. Steve and Lyra themselves had no idea that danger was following them from behind.

As the two fled, one of his father's men realized someone from behind the bushes was listening to their conversation. They immediately checked what was behind the bushes and coincided with Steve running away from the bushes.

Steve and Lyra went back to rest. "Wait a minute, I'll get some more water," Steve said. "All right, be careful," said Lyra. A large, strong hand gripped Lyra's hand tightly. "Let go," said Lyra. Steve turned and was surprised to see his father's men now in front of him.

"Let her go! She has nothing to do with you!" said Steve, looking intently at his father's men.

"Your father sent you home. Come with us!" said one of his father's men.

"Let her go first, otherwise I won't be coming home!" answer Steve

A sharp knife was pointed at Lyra's neck, Lyra was getting scared. "We will not let this girl go, this girl has influenced you to run away from home."

"No, I chose to leave the house. She has nothing to do with what is happening now."

"Yes sir, I persuaded him to leave his house. But please don't hurt Steve," Lyra asked.

"Well, what should I say? This girl has influenced you," said his father's men.

Lyra is released and she immediately hides behind Steve. "Calm down Lyra, we'll both be safe. If anything happens, run as fast as you can to escape," Steve whispered as he hugged Lyra tightly.

The other two also took out swords. There was a fight between Steve and his father's men. "If you manage to finish us off. Then, from then on, leave," said his father's men.

Steve swung his sword swiftly. But everything was blocked by his father's men. But Steve hit the target and managed to kill two people. And now there's only one person left.

From the top of the tree, someone was about to shoot an arrow at Steve. Lyra who realized this immediately pushed Steve with all her might and an arrow shot straight into Lyra's heart. Steve who fell to the ground froze at the sight of the injured Lyra.

Steve saw Lyra fall and thought all he saw was a dream. Fate said otherwise, Lyra was bleeding from her mouth. Steve had mixed feelings when he saw Lyra. His eyes heated up and tears started to flow.
