Struggle.

I jump and land on the boxes. It wasn't a very high jump, luckily that room was only on the second floor.

The three zombies notice me and dash towards me.

In front of me is a broken gate connected to a wall surrounding my house.

I bash the head of the female zombie blocking the exit and run out of the gate.

!!

The horde is zombies on my right turns around and chase me.

I have no choice but to escape to the left side of the street. It seems like I am in a neighbourhood, several houses that are similar to the one I reside in is placed beside one another.

Suddenly, I notice zombies from every corner running after me. Zombies were crashing through window panes, pushing trucks and cars aside to reach me. Soon, a tsunami of zombies was forcing their way to me, destroying everything in its path.

I turn back to see that zombies are constantly being stomped on and dying. But the number of zombies does not seem to be decreasing.

!!!!

A rusted truck came crashing into my direction, bouncing off the ground over me and into the wave of zombies.

That's was close! That almost hit me!

Wait... It was thrown towards me...?

I look around to see a giant lump of meat, about the height of a tall office building, blocking my path straight. The zombie has giant green bubbles throbbing from its skin and it seems to have difficulty moving. The legs are nowhere to be seen, probably buried under its body fat.

Near the fat zombie, a small alley can be seen between the houses on the left. I quickly squeeze my way through it and avoid the gigantic monstrosity.

Soon, I can see some cranes behind the rows of houses, it's a construction site. I run towards it, climbing over whatever fences and obstacles there is and dodging every zombie advances.

The crane became taller and bigger. The construction site is directly in front of me. Luckily, my hunch was correct. It was surrounded by a metal barricade and the gate seems to be jammed and blocked by a bus, is it a survival camp?

I look around to see a dumpster leaning against the wall surrounding a house.

Two zombies attempt to bite me. One from the back and one from the front. I bash the head of the zombie at the front using the bat before using my elbow to crash the zombie's nose at my back. The impact threw the zombie off balance and I take that chance to finish the zombie off.

Huff huff...

I quickly pull the dumpster and push it against the barricade, which I used as a boost to climb into the construction site.

*tut*

I step onto the dusty sand and look around. Weird... There's no sign of lives anywhere. The sand around is way too dusty, indicating that no one has walked on it for a long time. There's a shack at the edge of the construction site and a very foul smell is coming from inside... Something rotting.

I better leave it alone.

I walk to the metal frame structure in the middle of the construction site. There is only one crane beside this tall metal structure, the foundation of a building. The floor and ceiling are already constructed with cement but no maintenance caused some parts of the foundation to collapsed.

From below, I can see a bag protruding out at the second top level. A survivor?

I walk and climb up the stairs to what seems to be the seventh level before the roof.

!!

A noose can be seen above a pile of skeleton bones and a chair. The noose is already decomposing, parts of it are already green and yellow.

...

I look to the edge to find the bag and drag it in. I look in it to find nothing but a dagger and a book. I brush the dust

Off the cover to find out that it is a diary. However, the name of the owner is indiscernible as it is blurred out.

I flip through the pages, they are very fragile and the pages have lots of brown spots, how long was this here?

...

Several pages were torn out at the start, the only one left talks about the apocalypse.

--------------

Day 3

The rain has not stopped, the blood rain. The sky continues to be dyed in crimson red and constantly rains for three days. The authorities have asked every citizen to stay indoors but did not explain the situation. Is it just me or are my neighbours out in the rain? I saw them from the window in my room. What are they doing out there?

------------------

I flip to the next page.

------------------

Day 4

Some people dressed in a complete white protective suit is killing all of my neighbours out there. I don't know what is happening. All those people in the streets without protective gear, are they even human anymore? They kept roaming around like some sort of asylum patients.

My brother is getting anxious. Our food supplies are running low, my father plans to brace the rain to gather food outside.

All these events... What is happening?

----------------------

The next few pages are torn out.

I flip to a half-torn page.

----------------------

The crystals.

The crystals in the zombies, condensed from that bloody rain, can grant us immense power! I must do whatever I can to get more of it.

My brother has been-

----------------------

Crystals?

The remaining pages are torn except for the last page. The last page is written in red ink, is it blood?

-----------

It's over. No matter how much the crystals strengthen humans, food and water is still a necessity.

It's the end for humanity. No one will survive this anymore. Food and water are all contaminated by that fucking rain. If we directly consume that rain, we will turn into one of that monsters out there.

We tried all kinds of filters and processes but all ended up in more casualties and failures.

The rain finally stopped after 1 year of rain. But it's no use, I can't take this anymore. Goodbye.

-------------

...

I close the diary. It probably belongs to that skeleton over there.

...

Haha...

So this time, it's death by starvation and dehydration huh...

Fuck...
