Chapter 8

When Liam and Kei Yun both arrived at the company, a lot of eyes we're directed toward them. None filled with hostility but of curiosity. Gazes that at times didn't last longer than ten seconds. From the ladies and men at the front desk to the workers and personal assistants. They all took in the sight of an unknown youth by their presidents side.

One who was even able to take the private elevator made only for honored guess and the president himself.

Just who was this young man?

Kei Yun could tell that he would soon be the topic of many discussions.

"They're all looking at me?" Kei stated as he walked out the elevator into the top floors main lobby.

"They like what they see." Liam smiled. "And I don't blame them." Wrapping his hand around the other, he pulled him into his office. His secretary quietly followed after, not sparing Kei Yun a single glance unlike the those downstairs.

Handing over a folder full of important files she poured a large cup of cuffee before leaving and closing the door behind her.

Liam carefully began looking through the files, appearing to be no longer paying Kei Yun any more attention. Quickly an aura of professionalism engulfed the office as if it was always there.

Surprising even Kei Yun who watched as the man in front of him switched from playful mode to work mode. Everything about the other became drenched in solemnity. This was the first time he had ever seen Liam so serious.

And for a second Liam appeared to be a regular gentleman born from a line of elegancy. Instead of a scheming wolf in sheep's clothing. But never the less Kei Yun quite enjoy this sight of him. How could he not? The other was completely ignoring him and he wouldn't have had it any other way.

Leaving the man alone to work he wondered around the room, looking for any source of entertainment for him. Rather it fell in the form of a book or a simple piece of paper. Kei would be fine as long as it could grasp his attention for awhile.

And lucky for him everything in the room was simply art. From small statues, to the wild paintings on the walls that expressed the creators thoughts. Everything in the room was luxurious art. The rug, the desk made from a personal wood craftsman to the very coffee mug on the table. They all were created by incredible artists and throughout it all one work in particular stood out the most to him.

A painting. With the letters of L. Z. and W. Craftily drawn into a black canvas of falling domino's.

They were initials for the name of the artist.

Luke Zhang Wood.

A close friend Kei Yun had known from his past life. Sadly he never got the chance to see him again before he died.

Lightly touching the art he pondered on how the other was doing. If he was still as bubbly and kind as ever. If he still drunk a large cup of tea before painting. His habits were easy to understand.

But there was one particular thing Kei could never understand about him till now. His immense dislike for Ming Yun, a person as nice as Luke couldn't stand the sight of Ming. Just standing in the same room as him annoyed Luke to death.

At that time Kei Yun didn't think much of their little squabbles that would end in pettiness. But now he could only think differently. And as ironic as it sounds Luke was the last person he saw before he went to meet Ming Yun on the bridge that night. The one who warned him not to go because he had a bad feeling. The only one who knew where he went the night he died. Not even He Cheng who was back at the hotel knew.

Kei Yun sighed bitterly as the sweet feelings of anger and hatred bubbled within. No matter how he looked at it, 30 was a young age to die at. He didn't even get a chance to find love and marry whatever women or man he fell in love with. He didn't get a chance to retire with friends, have kids if the decision ever crossed his mind. Become an uncle for the kids his friends would've had. Have family barbeques. Get drunk together, ect. He enjoyed the simple things.

But now he would no longer be able to spend time with the people he cared about. And it was all Ming Yun's fault. The one person who robbed him of everything!!

He may now have a new life, but why? When he already had one. He had a life. It wasn't all rainbows and sunshine but it was his. And now it was gone causing him to once again start all over from scratch.

This really angered him to the utmost. Every limb in his body wanted to shred Ming Yun into bits and pieces of nothingness. Torture him till his very last breath and then rise him back up from the dead to do it all over again.

What brotherhood?! What bonds?! What family?!

In this life he had no one! Not a single being who valued nor cared for him.

Kei Yun truly was alone. And though he wouldn't mention it out in the open to anyone. In secret he was not only just angry but he was hurt. Deeply hurt and betrayed.

And so staring at this beautiful painting in front of him, he was reminded once more of what he had lost. Of what he had taken from him.

"Revenge is best served cold." Kie whispered.

"Battre le fer pendant qu'il est chaud. I believe that one should always strike the iron while it's hot."

"Huh?" Kei Yun turned around at the sudden voice to find Liam staring at him with an easy smile and a gaze that was profound.

'He speaks French?'

"Who angered my beloved so much that your planning revenge on them?"

Kei rolled his eyes. "I don't know what your talking about. I was simply just quoting a piece from the artist."

"The death painting by Zhang. Are you a fan?"

No he wasn't. Kei just so happened to be there when Luke finished the piece last autumn. "I enjoy his work. I have for years."

"If you want, I'll give it to you."

"Really."

"Oui, ce qui est à moi est à toi." [What's mine is yours.]

Not understanding a word the other said he assumed the best. "I'll take that as a yes."

Liam gave Kei Yun a smile in response before drifting his attention back to work.
