the exchange system

After an unknown period, 0 gradually returned to consciousness. His first and instinctive urge was to open his eyes and survey his surroundings, yet as he attempted to move, he felt a partial paralysis, and darkness engulfing him.

Continuously trying to regain control of his body, he sensed an uncanny feeling, as if he was in a different form. After several seconds, he managed to finally gain a limited mobility in his limbs. Just as he was about to continue his efforts, a sound gently entered his ears.

The auditory sensation provided an unexpected comfort, instilling within him a deep sense of reassurance.

Zero found himself taken aback by the soothing feeling, even though he couldn't comprehend the meaning of the voice or the words it conveyed.

At the same time, many sounds from various directions entered Zero's perception. Although they didn't provide him comfort, they also didn't bother him.

"What are these sounds? And why can't I see anything? Don't tell me I have reincarnated as a sound," he pondered, wondering about his mysterious situation.

However, his theory was quickly shattered as he experienced a gentle touch on his body, accompanied by a sensation of warmth that enveloped him.

"Well, I guess I didn't, but why can't I see anything? Is this some sort of punishment for all the people I tormented in my previous life? Even if that were the case, I wasn't the one blinding people, but rather castrating them," he thought, giving up on trying to move his body.

But as he pondered that last idea, his eyes widened, and an immense wave of fear washed over him.

"Don't tell me..."

As he contemplated a possibility, he attempted to feel his body, specifically his most important part, his balls but he couldn't sense anything.

"No, no, no, no, no! This can't be happening! No, no, no, there must be a mistake!"

After a few moments of panicking, he felt another touch, as if the other presence sensed the intense nervousness engulfing him.

With the touch from the other presence, Zero's tension eased, and his mind cleared.

"Yeah, I shouldn't rush to conclusions. I need to verify this with my own eyes first," he contemplated.

"Now that I am done with the most crucial issue, let's think of my current situation ."

"After my death, I roamed in that dark void for a while. Then, I encountered those three lights and selected the orb associated with the exchange system. But what does that mean, anyway?"

As he pondered the exchange system, a semi-transparent panel materialized in front of his face, consisting of two simple boxes.

Upon encountering the system window, Zero's mind absorbed some knowledge that clarified the system's workings .

The system was very simple. All he had to do was offer something to the system, regardless of its nature, even the air around him by just his thoughts or orders.

In return, he would receive a quantity of points equal to the value of the item he provided.

These exchange points would grant him the ability to request anything, there were no limits.

As long as he could afford the cost. The system would then fulfill his requests.

Naturally, the system had its rules. All of them were simple and regarding the exchange process.

For example, Zero couldn't exchange living creatures unless they willingly agreed.

Additionally, he needed to be in physical contact with the object he intended to exchange or have it within a one-meter radius. However, there were nuances to these rules.

For example, if he wanted to exchange the air surrounding him, he could only affect the air within a one-meter radius, despite technically being in contact with it.

Yet, if he touched an object larger than one meter, he could exchange it without any issue.

After absorbing this newfound knowledge, Zero found himself momentarily stunned. He was in a state of astonishment for a few seconds, but he was able to regain his composure after being abruptly brought out of this state as he felt a liquid substance entering his mouth.

His first reaction was to move his head, but his body seemed to refuse his order, as if it was an instinctive response.

Zero grappled with uncertainty for a few moments, trying to make sense of his situation. Then, a peculiar thought crossed his mind.

"Could I have been reincarnated into an animal's body, and is this milk?" he pondered.

As he contemplated this possibility further, it seemed to grow increasingly plausible and fitting.

"So, considering the typical weakness of a newborn, this could explain my temporary loss of senses, and, more importantly, my inability to feel my balls," he surmised.

With the comfort of confirming the safety of his manhood, Zero's curiosity led to another question: "What type of animals have I been reincarnated into?"

He pondered this question for a while but was unable to come up with a definitive answer. Instead, he decided to turn to the system and try it as it was the only thing he could do.

"So, should I go for air or earth?" he contemplated. "I believe I'll start with air, as it seems to carry less potential danger. After all, I don't know where I am and the earth under me disappearing could end very badly "Zero had made his choice

Zero decided to proceed cautiously, commanding the system, "Take one cubic meter of air." While he knew he could have extracted roughly four cubic meters, he opted for a more cautious approach for his first attempt.

Following his order, he experienced a brief sensation of breathlessness. This sensation continued for about three seconds before he could breathe normally once more. Shortly thereafter, another notification materialized in his field of vision, amidst the surrounding darkness.

[You gained 0.001 exchange points]

Zero remained in silence as he gazed at the notification. After some time a sigh ran from his lips or at least the imaginary lips in his mind

"This is going to be quite a journey. However, let's focus on the positive side; I have plenty of time on my hands. As it doesn't seem like I'll be regaining my sight anytime soon," he reflected, trying to reassure himself.

"But what should I use these points for? Well, I'll cross that bridge when I regain my sight."

From then on, he continued the same routine, patiently waiting. Three weeks passed by, and finally, he experienced the long-awaited moment when he could see the world and himself.
