Vampire Hunt 1

"The [Song of Nature] also disarmed the traps before us. So we should have a straight shot to the archives at the bottom of the temple. Although if what you mentioned before is true, then we should except a fight." She grimaced at the thought. The [Song of Nature] really took a lot out of her. Normally one would need to be in the Nascent Realm to know and even use the spell, but Yimi was an Elder in training. She had taken the role of an apprentice and learned a few Druid Elder secrets. [Song of Nature] being the most prevalent one.

It was the first thing taught, after a rigorous examination process. It was taught first in the off chance the Druid Elders died that the Druid Elder Acolyte, what Yimi technically is, could explore the library and learn the same teaching the Elder would teach or knew from the past generation. Maybe even discover something that was over looked by previous generations.

"If that's the case I will bring in some help." Kur raised his arm and summoned 3 portals. From the first portal came the Bigsky's. From the second portal came the Juggernauts and from the last portal came the Wolven. They had managed to preform another [Bank Heist] scheme providing him with more credits and lowering his VPs debt. He also wasn't going to summon Alduin until it was necessary.

Yimi was glad Kur could summon his minions anywhere. A Vampire, a true vampire, not what Elder Unu and that Treant were, are tough undead to face. They are faster and stronger than mortals and are naturally in the Liquifying Realm. Although if the Vampire is hungry they are much worse foes to face.

They are more savage willing to allow themselves to accept near death blows if it means they can feed on their target.

Yimi walked in front of the group since she knew the way. Kur had order his two Bigsky's flying only 100ft in front of her. He also had ordered his Juggernauts to change their configuration from Mortar Mode to Cannon Mode. The mortars on their back moved from facing upwards in an arch to being mounted direction on their shoulders facing forward. This was their Cannon Mode Kur had built for close quarters combat. Behind them all were the Wolven. Kur had them follow from behind in the off chance they were ambushed from behind.

Deep within the libraries catacombs. The Vampire and his horde of undead slowly made progress. Many of them died from traps of plants coming to life entrapping the undead beasts. The Vampire ignored them and left them to decompose as what little life they had left was sucked dry by the plants

. The Vampire could have saved the, but he was on a time schedule. He would use his horde as meatshields.

He had hundreds of thousands of undead beasts, but all the traps he passed trying to reach the inner sanctum had lowered it only to a few thousands.

The Vampire was impressed that the Druids had placed such deadly traps even down one of the secret back passages he took to enter.

As he and his undead horde walked in darkness the hallways lit up. Torches along the wall came to life with an orange flame reveling the grotesque debris behind the vampire.

The hallway behind the horde was covered in dry blood, gore and other viscera. Each undead beast was extremely malnourished and rotted. They all had bluish grey skin, organs hanging out of their body, some of the smaller undead would try to eat any exposed flesh of other undead to have some form of nourishment. Even the Vampire looked more like a walking corpse than a beautiful paled skin human.

"Looks like we have some company. Judging by the lights on they came through the front entrance. Seems like whoever stopped my Vampire Fledglings learned about me being here." He spoked with a smile.

He was starving. He had been down there for days trapped and barely making any progress. He could feel the hunger in his body slowly eating at his mind to rush and feed. He had to steel himself. He would command his undead to rush first to weaken his enemy before picking them off himself.

What he didn't realized was his hunger already took over. If only slightly. His hunger had changed his goal. The relic, the Dark Star Heart, he was after was pushed to the back of his mind. 'I can just grab the relic after I feed' was the only thought in his head. That he could do his job after he feeds. Feeding became his number one priority.

He stretched out his hand and mentally commanded a part of his horde to charge forward. To ignore the traps and attack their prey somewhere on the upper floors of the temple. Hoping to catch his enemies by surprise. Even if they knew he was there they didn't know where he was, but he knew where they were. A toothy smile formed on his face as he licked his lips. He couldn't wait to taste fresh flesh and blood. He wanted to bath in blood to replenish his strength as fast as possible.

"Did you turn the traps off to the entire temple or just the ones from the main door" Kur asked. He was hoping that if she did turn off the traps it means they could pick up their pace.

"Yes and no" she said as she continued her pace. "I've turned off the traps leading from the main door to the archives and vault. Every other trap in the temple and catacombs are still active. Some very nasty traps that could hurt even Nascent realm cultivators. We should be fine on the way there."

She spoke too soon. The floor started to tremble. The two could hear hundreds if not thousands of foot steps rushing their way.

"You just had to jinx us huh?" Kur said.

Thankfully with his Bigsky's he could see a large horde of over 2 thousand undead beasts charging directly at them. Even with all the lights on Yimi was startled by the sudden appearance of the undead horde. Flash backs of the previous horde filled her mind. She never wanted to live through that again, yet here she was dealing with another horde, one even larger than she had fought before.

"Thankfully they are only at the Foundation Realm and the Solidifying Realm. We should make quick work of them." Yimi then got into a battle stance ready to fight, bur Kur raised his arm in front of her.

"There's no need for us to fight. We need to save our energy as much as possible. I suggest we rest. My Juggernaut's and Bigsky's can handle this' he spoke with complete confidence with his minions. He swaggered over one of the walls and leaned against it. He was resting himself while also watching the battle that was about to happen through the feed of his Bigsky's. Seeing this Yimi wanted to follow suit, but watched in awe of the strength of Kur's machines.

BBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTT

BOOM BOOM BOOM

ZAP ZAP ZAP

The minions unloaded all their weapons simultaneously. The Juggernauts dealt the most damage. The mortars, now turned canons, would launched their attacks into the back of the horde killing dozens of undead at a time. Their rotary guns fired non-stop holding the horde a good 200ft away from them.

If any undead managed to break through the firing line a Bigsky was there waiting for them. A single laser would shoot piercing the skull of the undead beast.

And if that wasn't enough to stop them if any managed to get past the Bigsky's would have to deal with the Wolven! Their claws ripe their flesh to shreds! It was a massacre to put it lightly. Seeing as they didn't have much to worry about Yimi sat in a lotus position by Kur.

She still kept her eyes open and watched the battle. She quickly noticed something unique about the Juggernauts and the Wolven.

Each time they attacked the undead they would crumble to dust. Which wasn't normal. Once they died they would need to be burned to not be able to be resurrected again. What she noticed was each time an attack from the Juggernauts or claw swipes from the Wolven would infect the undead. It was almost like a corrosive affect, but Yimi has never seen anything like it.

She never noticed it with the Dwartle's, her personal favorite design Kur used, because it was fire and made since they would burn to ash.

She would have to keep an eye out for the talent Kur had imbued his machines with. It was almost like a corrosion of life. Definitely something she needed to watch out for.

After 30 minutes of non stop firing and attacking the over 2 thousand undead beasts were slain. Their bodies would have littered the floor, but the corrosive affect of the rune Kur gave some of his minions did their job. Reducing the undead to nothing more than piles of ash. There were however a hundred or so dead bodies on the ground. Kills from the Bigsky's. Thankfully Kur had also noticed the power of his minions and ordered his Wolven to turn the other bodies to dust.

With a clean cut of their claws the Wolven had disintegrated what remained of the bodies.

"Come on. We need to hurry" Kur said urgently. He felt that the 30 minutes they spent waiting was already too much time wasted. Who know how far the Vampire had gotten in the catacombs. He wasn't going to let this reward slip through his fingers, whatever it was. Yimi nodded in agreement and followed closely behind him.

With the 30 minutes wait Kur had managed to get his mana back to 50% while Yimi was only at 45%. They weren't nearly at full strength, but they hoped with the help of Kur's minions it would be enough for whatever hurdle they had left.

The two with their entourage quickly made their way down the hallway. Ready for anything.
