The Private Military System

Vincent spent the rest of the evening cleaning up the carcasses of the goblins and the hobgoblin. The smell prompted him to do so as he couldn't bear the stench it was releasing.

And as he was working on cleaning them up, a notification from his system popped up.

[Congratulations on your kill in the new world. You have now unlocked the full capabilities of the Private Military System!]

"So that was it huh?" Vincent murmured as he dropped the goblin's limb to the ground. His interest was piqued. So the system is like some sort of a game where he needed to kill mobs to gain experience points which would level him up and allow him to access better weaponry and more advanced capabilities within the system.

Vincent reviewed the system's interface to better understand his progression options. The Summon Troops was the only tab that was added after he killed those monsters earlier.

He opened it up by tapping on the screen. The [Summon Troops] tab displayed this.

INFANTRY:

1 Soul = 1 Infantry

Miscellaneous Infantry

Engineer: Requires 2 souls. Skilled in fortifications, demolitions, and mechanical repairs in field conditions.

Medic: Requires 3 souls. Capable of treating injuries and performing emergency procedures under fire.

Scout: Requires 4 souls. Specialized in reconnaissance and stealth operations.

Communication Officer: Requires 5 souls. Essential for establishing and maintaining lines of communication across various units and the base.

Special Forces:

1 Special Force: 10 souls.

After scanning through the options, Vincent realized that this troop's summoning was the one that would set a foundation for his powers. More soldiers means more power.

In order to gain souls, he must only kill a creature in this world. Animals aren't included in this, only humanoid creatures and monsters.

As for [Military Development System], Vincent opened it and just like before, an array of military facilities, hardware, and equipment were displayed. Some were greyed out with a locked icon indicating that they required a higher level to unlock. Among the available options, Vincent noted that he could currently summon light military vehicles.

The models available for summoning included:

AM General M1151 HMMWV (Humvee): A highly mobile, multi-purpose wheeled vehicle with a strong track record of reliability in various terrains and combat situations. It's equipped with basic armament mounts and can serve both as a troop carrier and a patrol vehicle.

Oshkosh M-ATV: Designed for versatility and protection, the M-ATV provides superior off-road capabilities and is fitted with armor resistant to IEDs and small arms fire, making it ideal for reconnaissance missions in hostile environments.

What's more, they are free of charge. However, summoning that hardware meant that you would only summon the hardware itself, not the driver. The driver or personnel operating the equipment are summoned differently and come at a cost.

Well, it's not like he needed to summon those vehicles right now. For now, he wanted a base. The tent that he had set up looked like he was just camping for the night. He wanted it to be safe.

With that thought in mind, Vincent began the strategic planning and construction of his own small military base using the capabilities provided by the Military Development System. He intended to establish a fortified base that could serve as a command center for operations, a secure living space for his future team, and a storage for their equipment and supplies.

First, Vincent summoned five engineers to install a perimeter of barbed wire around the designated area. The barbed wire would provide a basic but effective deterrent against lower-level threats, ensuring that the interior of the base remained secure from most wildlife and rogue entities. In strategic spots, he also installed watchtowers, allowing for surveillance and defense over a wider area.

The heart of Vincent's base would be the small headquarters, which included the main command center. This facility was equipped with advanced communication systems, including a radio tower to maintain contact with scouts and patrols outside the base. The command center was fortified with reinforced walls and a secured entry system to protect sensitive information and technology.

Next, he focused on building barracks that could accommodate his growing team of summoned troops. Each barrack was designed to be modular and expandable, providing not just sleeping quarters but also recreational and dining facilities to ensure the well-being of the troops.

Understanding the necessity of sustainability in such an environment, Vincent established a water purification station. This station used both filtration and chemical treatment processes to ensure a continuous supply of clean water from nearby natural sources.

Adjacent to the barracks, he set up a storage depot, which was essential for housing their supplies, arms, and ammunition securely.

For the future acquisition of military vehicles, Vincent designated a specific area as the parking and maintenance zone.

Next, Vincent installed a small field generator for electricity. This generator was capable of powering the entire base, with contingency plans for additional solar-powered units that could supplement the generator if needed.

Lastly, for protection, Vincent summoned ten infantrymen who would serve as a guard and his main force in ensuring the security of the base. He equipped them with standard weaponry, M4 Carbine, m911 pistols, combat suits, night vision goggles, and a tactical knife.

It took him about an hour to set up the base, and he was satisfied with the result. The clearing that he found now turned into a fully functioning military base. Vincent walked around the perimeter, inspecting the barbed wire, and checking the sightlines from the watchtowers.

After that, he retreated to his headquarters where a personal bedroom equipped with air-conditioning and basic furnishings had been set up. The room also contained a secure communications terminal that connected directly to the command center for immediate updates and alerts.

Vincent felt a moment of relief as he sat down on his bed. The mattress was soft and comfy to the point it was inviting him to sleep. But he fought against the feeling of drowsiness and reached out to a communication terminal and spoke.

"I need someone to come over to my room who will act as a representative. I have an order to issue."

Within minutes, a soldier knocked on his door.

"Come in," Vincent beckoned and the soldier promptly entered the room.

"Sir, what are your directives?"

"If anything happens that requires my attention, I want you to wake me up. Also, assign two soldiers that will scout the area within 2 2-kilometer radius of our base at first light," Vincent instructed clearly, making sure his orders were understood.

The soldier nodded, "Understood, sir. I'll prepare the team for the scouting mission."

"Good, I will take my rest now."
