5 chapter 4

Strap your chin, fasten your belt coz the arc is about to really start.

Also for all those wondering, I won't give mc necromancer abilities, it's too boring, overdone, and cliché. I haven't thought about his power yet, any reccomendations?

Nami stared at her drawing with a keen eye, looking for flaws. Her drawing well represented a part of the east blue she'd visited; the village was well depicted, and the roads, rivers and canals were drawn well. She'd been working on it for days, and looking at the detailed map, it would be safe to say her efforts were fruitful. It was pretty impressive for a girl her age - 14 - to be able to draw a map this detailed and under the inspection of an untrained eye, it would seem perfect and complete but Nami begged to differ. She was yet to draw the docking section of the village, and a few other last minute touches, would make the drawing complete.

'I need to finish this if I want to meet Nojiko tomorrow,' Nami thought.

Inhaling quietly, she glanced at the clock hung high up on the ceramic wall for second before turning her gaze back to the drawing. It was 11 PM, and if she wanted to finish it before tomorrow, she'd better hurry up. The room she worked in was small; barely able to fit a single bed and a table with minimum walking space. In front of her, rested a wide wooden table that housed various drawing utensil. Arlong, as heartless as he may be, provided Nami with the best drawing equipment. He needed her drawings to be well made, and at a chance of having better maps, he provided her with top-notch tools. Nami rested her left arm on the table in front of her for support as her right hand picked up a drawing pencil and with a one final inhalation, her hand danced on the drawing paper.

Next day,

Nami woke up from the loud clang sounds of the alarm beside her bed. After wearing a pair of new clothes, she rolled the map that lay atop the table and shooed out of her room. She had managed to successfully daw the map at the cost of her sleep.

It took her a little over 5 minutes to make her way down to the first floor to Arlong. Arlong sat outside in his iconic wooden chair, bathing under the strong sunlight. He had his eyes covered by a fabric cloth. His face stared back at the sun, as his body laid stretched out in a state of limp. A bunch of other fishmen were present as well, some enjoying themselves in the deep swimming pool, and others basking like Arlong.

Hearing the arriving footsteps, Arlong turned his face towards Nami, "Welcome Nami," Arlong smiled mischievously, "I guess you're done with your map work?" he said, removing his sleep cover. Nami walked towards Arlong and handed him the map, "I'm done. I finished the map you asked me.. And I'll be out for a week."

"Ohh you'll be out. I guess you really are hell bent on making a 100 mil berries. Well, I did say I'd free the village if you somehow managed to make 100 mil berries," Arlong grinned.

"Yeah, and you better keep your word," Nami shot back.

"Ohh I'm a man of my word, Nami. But did you forget, the boy you saved, because of him you'll have to pay extra. 5 mil berries extra," Arlong grinned.

Nami stood still, her mouth grit, 'I should have expected as much. It's only 5 million more, nothing major. I can easily make that by a quick heist.'

"Fine, I accept," Nami answered back, causing Arlong to smile even further, "You're such a good girl, Nami. Troubling yourself for other's sake. Your dead mother would be so proud," Arlong blue face widened and smile that of a villain.

Nami shivered at the mention of mother, her shock doubled over as it was said by mother's murderer. Her face lowered and her eyebrows narrowed. She clenched her fist and grit her teeth. "Tch, I'll be going then," Arlong watched Nami go out his mention as he smiled manically at her back.

Nami made her way to her house where she expected to meet Nojiko, her adoptive sister. The sun shone brightly and presented the citizens with abnormal heat. One would expect living so closely to the sea would make for excellent weather, but alas.

Knocking on the door earned her no response which forced her to barge in. Nojiko, whom she expected to meet was absent. The house was empty, all that lingered around was furniture. Nami grabbed a tangerine from the table and sat down onto the sofa, muching on the fruit. Her eyes fell onto the window a few centimetres in front of her. Her reflection appeared, although it was mostly hazy. A slim orange-haired girl with brown eyes, she'd seen it many times but seeing it in her own home brought her comfort. She felt safe.

A while later,

She made her way out to the backyard where she stared at a grave. A grave of her dead mother. The grave was a reminder to her, a source of strength which she used to fight off Arlong's mind tricks. She sat onto ground and placed a bouquet of flowers atop the stone hedge," Mom, I will save this village," she kicked the grass beneath her and took off to the tangerine farm, a place where she expected to meet Nojiko.
