1 Death, Wish & Rebirth (UPDATED)

I died, simple as that. I had a boring but fulfilling life, and never did anything worthy of remembering me for, except for my kids. Unlike some human males, I stayed with my children like a good father, which was more than I could say for their mother. She got tired of being a wife and a mother so she left us all behind.

I wasn't the best father but my kids never went hungry and always had a roof over their heads and wanted for nothing they needed, and many things they didn't.

I fell asleep with my children in my arms one day. The next thing I know, I'm surrounded by darkness. No light, no sound.

After wandering aimlessly in darkness after my death worrying only for my children that I left behind, I finally saw a light. It was a man, a God.

This is how my new life began...

"So I'm dead, now what?" I asked.

"Now you get reincarnated into a world of my choosing with a choice and one wish." God said.

"Very well, I've ready enough novels that with the information given so far, this should be a very short meeting. What world?" I asked.

"You will be reincarnated into the world of Eragon with your partner. You will arrive five years before Saphira is hatched. The location will be the northern most coast of Du Weldenvarden. It will be a hidden valley with orchards so you have plenty of food and there will be no predators due to the natural barriers, you'll see when you get there. But you will also have livestock from your family home. Your back story is your village disappeared during the war Galbatorix started, but since your family was one of the breeding families, everyone assumes he found them and took everything. All the dragons your family had died during the war so they never came back to clear the now blocked pass, the only way in or out of your home, besides on dragon back. After a long hard winter, you are the only surviving member of your clan. You will awaken with your partner in your arms, in their egg of course, but you will have access to the treasury of the clan...there will be a surprise waiting for you there. Now that's enough of the spoilers. What is your wish?" God asked.

"I wish for a larger world. Like Eragon plus LOTR plus GOT. But like the Americas, they are so far apart that nobody has ever been to more than one before the original migrations from one to another."

"Hmm...that might just be one of the best wishes I've ever heard of. And it perfectly suits the world you are going to." God said, seemingly impressed.

"What about my memories? Do I need to worry about my past life memories being found out?" I asked.

"No. They will be impossible for even the dragon crystals in hiding, to find and read. All your memories about the books, and that failure of a movie, along with any other memories from before you are reborn, will be perfectly safe. But you will go through a massive headache when you arrive, while your new life memories are being downloaded, so to speak. If I don't do this and someone does read your mind, they would find it highly suspicious that you have no memories before that time." God answered.

"Thank you. Is there anything else I need to be aware of before I go?" I ask.

"I was going to give you a second wish, but I opted it out for some perks. Consider them micro wishes. You'll figure them out as you go along." God informed me.

"Thank you." I said with a slight bow.

"There is no need for such formalities with me young man." God said with a smile. "But since you are so respectful, is there anything you'd like changed in the world you are about to enter?"

"Hmm...maybe, a life partner?" I asked before I noticed the smug look on God's face. "I mean one of my species. Someone that won't grow tired of me or get upset when things grow difficult and leave me. I want...to be wanted too." I stated while rubbing the back of my head, embarrassed.

"I also mentioned a choice you would have to make." God reminded me.

"Oh yeah. What kind of choice?" I asked.

"What race would you like to be? Considering your location you can be a pure elf, a human or a half breed. Each has their own perks but as a pure elf you won't have any freedom in the lands of man." God said.

"Are there any weaknesses to being a half breed?" I asked.

"Just the mild racism you will receive from some pure elves. Other than that, you would have a lesser connection to magic. For example, in the books Eragon states that he has to break through a pane of glass to access his magic. For a pure elf it's more like walking through a sheet of water. Therefore a half-elf would feel like they're breaking through a thin sheet of plywood. It's easier than the glass but still not as easy as a pure elf."God stated.

"So as an elf my magic is just available? So it's just a lot easier to access, especially at the beginning." I stated.

"Essentially. But a pure elf also has access to magics that aren't available if you have any human genes in your system." God clarified.

"Then I'll choose the pure elf. While it restricts my mobility around Alagaesia, I want the magics that Eragon never had access to in the books." I said after some thought.

"Done, good luck on your travels." God said, then raised his hand in a wave and my vision went black.

.....

I opened my eyes to find myself in a Japanese-style room. Too much anime made this deduction easy. Next thing I know my head felt like it was splitting open. The only thing that kept me from screaming out was the thing in my arms. My eyes were shut tight due to the pain but I knew what it was instantly. It's an egg.

After the pain finally receded, I opened my eyes to look at the egg, noticing the color. It was black with red streaks. And it wasn't smooth like in the movie. It was more like the eggs from Game of Thrones.

(Imagine Saphiras egg colors but the blue is black and the white streaks are red, but it looks like Drogons egg from GoT)

The next thing I know, the egg starts shaking and a crack appears. I hold my breath as the crack spread across its shell.
