Murphy's Law - Conclusion

Standing in the middle of the subspace, Divya was staring at the three people teleporting around the area with absolutely no idea of what was happening. In fact, she didn't even know where she was, having been seated in the food court but a moment ago, she was now trapped in this dome-like space.

Having heard their initial interaction, she knew that Alaukik knew the two twins from somewhere, however apart from that she didn't understand why they started fighting immediately. However, she knew it was best for both her and Alaukik if she just stayed put and didn't move around trying to help. Having seen gang fights in the slums when she was young, she knew that just good intentions without any power behind does more harm than good.

And so, all she did was stand in the middle where Alaukik asked her to, and tried to make out the fight occurring in front of her. While it was a bit hard to follow their constantly teleporting figures, she was able to at least make sense of what was happening, that is, until suddenly a surge of light from the twins engulfed everything in the area. By the time she recovered from the sudden flash bang, she realised that she had lost the three of them. No, it wasn't that she lost them, she could just no longer follow them with her eyes. All she could see were splashes of colours suddenly appearing and disappearing, while hearing the constant shriek of what she could only assume was their weapons colliding.

All of a sudden, a huge shadow covered her figure and seemed to stretch its arms out towards her. However, even before she could turn around and look at it, she heard a loud thump and the shadow disappeared in an instant. Turning around, she saw that Alaukik was facing off against some kind of giant. The giant itself was holding what was supposed to be its right arm, but was now only a stump with nothing below the elbow. She saw Alaukik ask it something, but before the giant responded, a very loud crack resounded throughout the space, and suddenly the top of the dome was filled with cracks. Realising that whatever was holding them trapped was now breaking, Divya became excited and turned to face Alaukik. As she did, she heard a really loud laugh followed by a shrill shriek, and saw that the giant was laughing loudly while holding something in front of his chest as if to prevent it from penetrating him.

Within a few seconds, the dome cracked open and the giant let out one last laugh before teleporting away again, while Alaukik simply fell to the ground on his knees, gasping loudly for air.

Kneeling on the cold marble floor and gasping for breath, Alaukik clenched his teeth in frustration at the fact that he let the twins get away once again, but knew that asking for anything more was just being greedy. For some reason he didn't yet understand, the twins had grown a lot in talent and skill, equalling the current him. He knew that asking for anything more than a draw was being greedy, and yet one part of him kept screaming at his weakness for letting them go. Suddenly, he feels a hand touch his shoulder, and he twists the sword still in his hand and angles it towards the person who touched him, only to realise that it's Divya. Relaxing, he let go of the sword and lay down on the floor. Bending over to look at him, Divya mumbled quietly,

"A-A-Are you okay?"

"There is no need to worry about me - how are you doing? Did you get hurt?" Alaukik asked in return, knowing that she was his only hope for the future.

Nodding her head, Divya tried to help Alaukik to his feet, after which both of them started to look around them. It seemed that they were back in the food court, but the effects of the subspace breaking still affected the real world. It seemed that it caused a lot of damage, and so the people in the area had started to panic and quickly left the area. Even though he knew that they were temporarily safe, Alaukik still quickly held Divya and teleported away to Asha's house. Appearing in the living room, Alaukik let go of Divya and said,

"I need to do something, so I'll probably not be back today. When Aunty comes back, just tell her what happened and that I'll be back later," and without waiting for a response, he quickly teleported away from there.

Knowing she could do nothing, Divya simply nodded and started to make her way towards her room. As she did, she thought back to what she felt when Alaukik held her,

'His mind … it's tearing into two. It seems like he is … resisting another side of him? Whatever he is doing, at this rate, his mind will crumble into pieces very soon. I wonder why he is holding onto it so closely…?'

Sorry for the short chapter, I started watching this kdrama called 'It's okay to not be okay' and I'm completely hooked.

PS: The subspace crumbled due to the constant tearing and breaking of space by the trio. While the Universe's space is huge and can handle such fights, a subspace is far too weak to bear the constant strain of tearing and healing, and so it broke open.

Thank you for reading the novel and I hope you have a great day!
