Chapter 1: Wrong place wrong time.
*Good morning Las Vegas!!*
The loud alarm clock was going off which made Leon roll over on his bed and turn off the alarm. *Yawn* "Man I need to get to sleep at a better time and not stay up so late playing games." He thought to himself as he was standing up trying to shake the tiredness of his slumber away.
*Stomach Growls* (Man why am I so hungry?) he thought to himself. Remembering the previous night of drinking and playing a popular MOBA on his computer. ( Ah that's why 8 hours of drunken gaming with the friends then passing out. Now it all makes sense I need to get dressed and grab some food.)
After making himself presentable Leon heads out of his small apartment and heads to the mart to grab groceries. Walking into the deli he accidentally bumps into a teenager not paying attention to his surroundings and drops all of groceries in his basket while the kid laughs.
(Dam Kid's… Who likes them they are all self interested jerks.) After taking a deep breath recomposing himself grabs the basket and everything that was knocked out.
Walking out of the store and heading back towards his apartment he notices a white van parked near his building in the fire lane. Looking down he checked his watch for the time ( 3:25 PM I've got to get inside before the school rush and the servers bog down.)
Not noticing he's about to cross the road all Leon hears is a loud horn going off which makes him look up. "Holy crap!" The school bus comes within inches of hitting him and he takes a deep breath looks both ways and begins to walk again.
Just as he rounds the corner he sees two guys jump out of the white van and grab a boy that maybe the age of 10. " Help Help Helmpj…" the boy started to scream while flailing around. ( Shit. What do I do? Do I try to help or call the police?) He decides to try to help Leon runs up to the two guy as they are attempting to put the boy into the van.
"Hey! Let the boy go!" He screams as he arrives in-front of the group and tosses his groceries at the guy on the left as he swings at the guy on the right. The sack of food smacks the guy in the face just enough to disorient him. Letting the boy wiggle out of his grip and once Leon punched the guy grabbing the other arm the boy was able to break free and run away.
As Leon's fist connected with the guys face he could tell it didn't do too much to this muscular guy. The most it did was shock him that some weakling would try to interfere and actually hit him.
The two massive goons turn their sights from the kid to the scrawny person that just screwed up their plans. The one that was hit with groceries threw a right hook at Leon which connected squarely on his jaw sending him crumpling over. All while the one who got punched went to the van and brought out a baseball bat and started to slam the baseball bat into every inch of Leon's body you could hear the snaps of bones. After two long horrifying minutes the goons hoped into their van and sped off.
Leon laying in a pool of his own blood vision blurry choking on his own blood in the final moments of his life prayed that this was not the end and wanted to live.( Please to whoever is listening I don't want to die. I was the hero I saved the kid I did what was right. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.)
After he said his part the light started to get darker and darker until there was nothing left and all he could think was this was it everything was over. Just when he thought all hope was lost he felt a warm feeling around his body and then he felt like he body was numb.
He tried to open his eye but when he tried it was as if he had none he could sense stuff around him and picture it. Then he tried to focus on that feeling then he realized he was not in his body on earth but a floating glowing ball. ( IS THIS MY SOUL!!! WHERE AM I? WHATS GOING ON?)
"Take a moment and calm down young one." A soft ephemeral voice called out to him. All will be explained to you in time just calm down we've got nothing but time no need to shout.
A soft warmth enveloped him and eased his soul it felt like being help by a family member you've not seen in years.
"Um… hello? Who's there? Where am I? Last I knew I was on the ground not doing so hot."
"I know I saw it all you're actions caught my eye and when I heard your pleas I knew I found someone worthy." The voice said "You did a great act of selflessness and saved someone that will have a bright future and go on to do things that will change this world. All thanks to you the man who saved him from being ransomed and killed."
"Really he's someone important in the future? Wow that's a lot to take in. And guessing by my current….. appearance that I didn't survive and I'm somewhere in between?" Leon said in a calm tone
"Yes and no. Yes this is where you go after you pass but it's not as simple as what was said down there. Behind me is a gate that will judge you and decide if you had a pure soul and by that I mean it was good natured." She explains
" Now behind you is a gate that will take you if your soul was tainted. Now there are always exceptions to things that's why there are beings like myself. I am an arbitrator for this realm."
"Realm? What do you mean by that?" Leon quickly interrupted.
"Well there are hundreds of realms created by the architects there are a few handful of them and they all create and govern over their territory. But others will jump around and see what each other are doing."
"Time for them is not the same way that you observe it. They live outside it and interject themselves in when they deem it needed." The arbitrator continued
"They are the beings that most religions base their deity's from hence why they come in all shapes and forms. The one whom resides over this realm he's only been around for 200-300 years."
"Wow this is a tough cookie to swallow…. If I had a throat anymore that is." Leon wryly chuckled at his joke
"Now one of the things in my power at a arbitrator is to help ascend worthy souls from lower realms to higher or even lower if it is deserving." She said
She waved her arm across Leon and he began to glow brighter then the next moment he had a body again.
"Woah I have a body again? Wow it feels so weird here. Man do I feel like a million bucks." He said so cheerfully
"Now as I was saying when souls are worthy of ascending we imbued them with a little spark of power that the architects emit." She said
"There are several realms under my eye and showing your courageous actions and looking through your life I think there is a realm that would suit you perfectly. It's similar to your old one but also very different." She puts her hand over my chest and bright hot light emita from her palm and after a few moments she pulls it away.
"There all done now if you accept your soul will be sent to the new realm and you will start a new life and you will be like the people from there but stronger." Leon's eye went wide when thinking about what she said.
"Now if you decide you don't want to go to a new realm you can choose to go through the gate behind me and never have to worry about anything again and just be complacent in your ideal pocket area." She explained to Leon.
"I think I want to go to the place you were talking about I want to make a difference. Hopefully I will be stronger this time." Leon said with hope in his heart and in his voice.
The Arbitrator smiled down at the small person in floating in-front of her thinking that he reminds her of the architect of this sectors
"Ok now your time here has drawn to a close and now it's time to send you off." She said as she pulled out a massive book with hundreds of glowing swirls.
"Here it is the realm of Aecaria" she said as she pointed to a bright green glowing swirl "Now few rules first don't tell people your from a different realm. That usually does not work out well. Secondly you will keep your past life's memories but technology will be vastly different in some aspects."
Leon nodded his head in agreement with what she was saying. Took a deep breath and said "Ok I understand let's do it."
The arbitrator nodded her head and pressed the swirl and the environment changed and a portal opened in-front of him. "Jump in and good luck not many get this chance." She said wishing him luck
And the last thing Leon see as he jumps in is everything going dark around him and it feels like he's in jelly. Then a bright light opens up and if feels like he's getting pulled out into this bright light.
After a moment his eyes focus around him and he's in the hands of some tall guy who's using a knife to cut something. (Wait did I just get birthed?!?!?)
