Ch 29:-Heaven Devouring Technique

As the sun slowly rose, its first rays entered the room, casting a warm glow on the bed where a breathtakingly beautiful woman with auburn hair, porcelain skin, and bright pink lips lay sleeping. The sun's rays kissed her face, causing her to stir and stretch, revealing her slim belly as her long-sleeved shirt rode up. Her hazel eyes flickered open, taking in the bright new day as she muttered, "I don't even remember the last time I had such a peaceful sleep."

But her peaceful slumber was shattered by the sight of an equally handsome young man with black-brown hair that fell softly over his ears and deep ruby-red eyes that seemed to pierce her very soul. She was awestruck by his appearance, which almost had an alluring nature to it, making her feel a sense of longing that she couldn't quite explain.

Suddenly, fragmented memories of the previous night flooded her mind, and she recoiled in fear. She remembered the boy before her had killed four people with his magical ability of blood control, his eyes glowing with a reddish-orange hue before he finished off the last remaining victim with his martial art prowess and drained him of all his blood. She wanted to scream, but before she could, the boy disappeared from her sight, only to reappear in front of her in the blink of an eye, pressing his hand firmly over her lips to silence her.

As she stared into his piercing ruby-red eyes, she felt a wave of confusion emanating from him, adding to her already frenzied state of mind. Her body trembled under his touch.

Meanwhile, Rayne was filled with a mix of emotions. His heart raced as he gazed at the beautiful girl before him, wondering if she remembered what had happened the previous night. He remembered using his compulsion skill on her to make her forget.Feeling confused, he did the only logical thing, which was to ask her, "Do you remember who I am?"

"Sigh, how much do you remember?" Rayne asked calmly in a polite manner. Feeling his gaze, she squirmed a little bit before saying in a trembling voice, "I... sob... remember everything. Please don't kill me, sir. I will do anything. Please don't kill me." Rayne was confused by her reaction and said with a hint of curiosity, "And why would I kill you?" As soon as Rayne said that, the girl's eyes became wide open. "Does that mean that you will not kill me?" she asked. Rayne tilted his head before asking, "Why do you think I will kill you?".

As Rayne said that, the girl answered, "I thought you belonged to the Komori clan because of your ability to perform blood magic." Rayne, upon hearing the name, immediately remembered that it was something that was written on the gun that he had. At that moment, he asked his system, 'Hey, do I belong to the Komori clan?'

Rayne thought for a moment before answering, "No, I don't belong to it." Upon hearing the reply, the girl seemed skeptical. Before she could say anything, he asked, "So, what's the deal with this Kimori?" As Rayne said this, the girl relaxed before saying in a venomous tone, "The Komori clan are nothing but monsters. They feast on human blood just for pleasure. A couple of months ago, one of the Komori clan members wiped out a whole village of mundane humans because he couldn't control his thirst. And a couple of weeks ago, there was a rumor that the gods had cursed them, causing all of them to die one by one."

"Oh, they are really some nasty guys," Rayne remarked although he didn't mean it because he also sometimes had problem controlling his thirst, just like right now he was feeling extremely hungry because of the the blood tainted by divinity that was running through her vein but he was able to suppress it due to his qi.

He focused on the girl in front of him and asked in a calm voice, "Can you tell me more about this curse on the Komori clan? Do you have any idea what it could be?"

The girl hesitated before answering, "I don't know much about it. It's just a rumor that's been going around. Some people say that the gods have cursed them because of their sins."

Rayne nodded thoughtfully as he was about to ask about the origin of the strange writing on her back. The girl's stomach growled, interrupting him and prompting her to ask for food. The girl's face became red with embarrassment as Rayne brought the food he had prepared in front of her, which he had intended to give her when she woke up. Seeing the food, the girl started to salivate and immediately lunged towards it, devouring it without any hint of grace.

"Ah, so I didn't ask you what your name was," Rayne said, interrupting Mina mid-meal. She stopped eating midway and choked on the food, prompting Rayne to immediately hand her a bottle of water. After she had gulped it down, she said, "My name is Mina."

As she kept on eating Rayne summoned a bucket full of chicken nuggets and started to eat them slowly as he waited for her to finish eating. After a while when she finished eating she asked where the bathroom was he pointed her to it. As soon as Mina entered the bathroom, she screamed, causing Rayne to slam open the door. He saw her pointing at the mirror while asking in a trembling voice, "Did you change my clothes?" "Of course, I did. Who else would do it?" Rayne replied. Upon hearing his response, Mina's face became extremely red. Before she could say anything, Rayne said, "We need to talk about the strange marking on your back. So quickly finish whatever you are doing." Mina came back to her senses after momentarily getting lost in her weird wattpad fantasies, and upon hearing what he said, her face became serious.

"OK," she said before closing the door.

After a few minutes, when Mina exited the bathroom, the first thing Rayne asked was, "Who is the writer of it?"

"It was written by my now deceased Master," Mina said.

"Oh! I am sorry. You have my condolences," Rayne said. 'She is holding back some information, but why?'

"So, why did he write it?" Rayne said.

"I don't know," Mina said.

'Half-truth. Oh, this is getting exciting,' Rayne thought.

"Well then, do you know what is written on your back?" Rayne said.

"No," Mina said.

'A lie, hmm,' Rayne thought. Although he couldn't tell from her facial expressions, it was obvious because of the way and speed she was speaking. It only meant one thing; she had rehearsed what to say.

"Oh, that is truly unfortunate that you don't know its name which is [Heaven Devouring Technique]," As soon as Rayne said this her eyes became as big as saucers.

"How...How do you know its name?" Mina said while stuttering.

"Well, before your Master died, he contacted me through a secret talisman, telling me about the technique that he etched on your back, and he also told me to save you," Rayne said.

"Really? Did he say that? But why didn't he talk to me about you?" Mina said with suspicion.

"I don't know," Rayne said calmly.

"Then tell me, what does my Master like to eat?" Mina asked.

Hearing it, Rayne got stunned, but he didn't let it show on his face. He asked his system mentally, "Hey, do you know anything about it?"

Mina started to contemplate whether she should go her own way or follow the stranger, but then she remembered how one of her Master's rivals came to know of the technique he created, which caused her kidnapping when her Master passed away. So, at the end of the day, her only option was to follow this guy who had the abilities of the legendary Komori clan but had refused to tell his name from the start.

Rayne stood up and started to walk towards the door. He wanted to create a sense of urgency in her, making her pick an irrational option, which was to follow him, and sure enough, his trick worked.

"Wait! Could I follow you? Don't you want to know more about the technique? I can tell you everything about it," Mina said.

'Trying to bait me, huh,' Rayne thought, then said, "I don't want to know. I am content with what I have, so bye."

"Please don't leave me alone and let me follow you. I will give you anything you want," Mina said.

Mina at that moment started to feel a piercing pain at her collar region, which caused her to squirm, but he didn't let her go. Instead, he tore off her upper garment before feeling her back with his finger, which now had a thin film of qi and soul force charged blood coating it. As he bit harder to increase the sensation of pain that she was feeling before, he once again started to move his finger along her back. This time, the soul force that was flowing through the writing started to act violently before re-weaving themselves and unlocking the first syllable of the technique. At that moment a system notification appeared.

As he saw the message Rayne started to become angry he then asked "Hey system why didn't you tell me there was this hidden quest,"

[I didn't announced it, It is probably the system that the unknown registered for issuing quest and reward.]

After hearing it, he gently laid Mina, who had now fainted, on the bed before feeding her a healing pill. Then, he flipped her over and began to read the first part of the technique.

The Heaven Devouring technique can be described as an attributeless cultivation technique. When using this cultivation technique, one is able to train both the soul force and enhance the strength of the physical body together.

The first part that he unlocked allowed one not only to absorb the soul force of a soul shard completely but also to absorb soul force from the surroundings if any were present into one's soul core. It consists of a mantra and breathing technique that need to be performed simultaneously to execute it properly.

'Damn, the old man who set up such conditions! It is like she is a living scroll, and one could only read the technique if she herself, in her full consciousness, submits her body to someone while performing a blood exchange to deactivate the spell that is protecting the writings,' Rayne thought.

After that, he went to a blacksmith shop where he asked if they crafted any wands. They answered no, and if he wanted to get a wand, he would need to head to the capital, where most of the wand makers are located. He asked if they could repair his odachi as well as his vest, which cost him 5 silver sycee for the blade, while the vest cost 15 silver sycee and 5 soul shards. They said that they would need one steady day before they could complete the work. After that, he visited the horse before paying for another day at the stable. Then he bought an ice cream, the equivalent of this world, and started to eat it before returning to the inn.

After entering his room, Rayne saw that Mina was already awake and was covering her body with a blanket while staring at him intensely.

Ignoring the stare, he sat down and said, "We will be departing the town tomorrow evening and then traveling our way to the Capital." Rayne then summoned a long-sleeved white shirt for Mina and gave it to her before exiting the room to give her some privacy.

After waiting for a while, he entered the room, lied down on the bed, and entered his soul sea. There, he summoned a couple of Naruto manga to get an idea of how chakra worked, as well as for entertainment purposes. The next day, Rayne once again walked around the town for a while. It was serving as a short vacation for him because he needed to go to the capital. He had a gut feeling that the exit of the nightmare realm lies around there. Later that day, he picked up his odachi as well as his vest before selling some of the weapons that he had collected from the corpses to four different shops so as not to seem suspicious. After that, both Rayne and Mina ate at a restaurant. They didn't speak a word after what happened yesterday.

After that, he took his horse before departing from the town along with Mina while following more detailed maps that he had bought yesterday.
