My Way of being a hero

A full week had passed since Kei had gone to Kyoka's house.

Two of the things Kei enjoyed most besides training was going to Shou's and Kyoka's house.

When he would go to Shou's house, he would come up with new ideas to implement into the suits that Shou's parents were developing. Aside from that, he would train with Shou for a while before they stopped and started talking as well as joke around about random things that have been happening recently.

As for when Kei would go to Kyoka's house. He and Kyoka, as well as her parents would have their entire focus on music. From the song to the lyrics to everything else in between. The majority of the time he was there was to relax and rock out with the Jiro family.

Today Kei had woken up early in the morning and went outside to do his usual training. As things stood he knew time was currently on his side.

'I do not need to rush, if I do, it will just hurt me more in the long run' thought Kei as he continued his usual morning training

At the moment, Kei had stopped his training in merging with the elements. So now Kei was starting to focus on different aspects of his power. The reason for doing so lately was because Kei wanted to see what training he would do after mastering the elements he was currently trying to master.

After a few hours Kei had decided to take a break. Once he finished stretching for a bit he finally started to walk to the house.

When Kei entered the house, he could hear Detective Naomasa talking with someone in the living room.

'I was wondering when he would come to visit' thought Kei as he went to the living room to greet the person who came to visit them.

"All Might, it is good to see you" said Kei to All Might with a smile on his face

"It is good to see you too young Kei" said All Might with a great big smile on his face

Once Kei greeted All Might, he quickly sat down on the couch, eagerly waiting to talk to All Might and ask if he had chosen Shou as his inheritor for One For All.

After a while of the three conversing with each other, Kei finally asked All Might the question that had been on his mind

"All Might, have you had a chance to see my friend Shou?" Asked Kei with an eager look on his face, as he waited for All Might to answer

"As a matter a fact, I have gone to see him" said All Might in a cheerful tone

When Kei heard All Might say he went to Shou's house to see him. Kei was certain that All Might would be able see Shou's talent and dedication to becoming a hero and would thus choose him as his successor

"What do you think All Might? Do you think he has the potential to be your successor?" Asked Kei, excitedly waiting to hear the answer he was expecting from All Might

"I think you were right to have recommended young Shou to be my successor, he truly has the qualities to inherit One For All" said All Might with a big smile on his face

When Kei heard that All Might felt that Shou had the qualities to be the next inheritor to One For All, Kei felt like the future where he and Shou would become the heroes leading the world to a better tomorrow was a short distance away.

"That is great All Might, now all you have to do is give him One For All and guide him on how to use-"

Before Kei finished what he was saying, the next words that came out of All Mights mouth completely shattered that dream

"sadly, young Shou rejected the offer without a second thought" said All Might with a great laugh

"Eh, he rejected your offer?" Said Kei with a voice full of doubt, as if he might have misheard what All Might had just said

"Yes, he rejected it. He said that he appreciated the consideration and would never reveal One For All to anybody but he didn't want to take the quirk" said All Might with a dejected look on his face

"I don't get it, why would Shou refuse to take your quirk?" Asked Kei as he started to ponder why Shou had rejected such an amazing gift

"In all honesty, I was shocked as well young Kei" said All Might with a defeated look on his face as he thought of Shou refusing his offer

This was the second time someone had refused to inherit One For All. Never in All Mights wildest dreams did he think someone would ever refuse this gift and yet, the first two people he saw that had the potential to become great heroes did not hesitate to refuse.

'Who knew it would be this hard to find a successor' thought All Might with a bewildered look on his face as he continued thinking 'to think that I thought anyone would jump at the chance to have One For All and yet I've been rejected twice already'

While All Might was thinking if the third candidate he would find in the future would refuse as well. Kei on the other hand was pondering why Shou had rejected All Mights offer. After thinking about it for a few minutes, Kei felt like he had figured out the reason for Shou's refusal.

While Kei would have liked to go over to Shou's house and ask the person himself. He still had a few things he wanted to talk to All Might about.

"Since Shou also rejected One For All, what will you do now All Might?" Asked Kei with a concerned look on his face

The fact that Shou had rejected One For All posed a problem to Kei and All Might. Although in All Mights case, he felt like he just needed to find someone else that he could trust One For All to and that was the problem Kei was facing.

The reason for that was that if Kei could not find someone. Then One For All would go to Midoriya Izuku like it did in the anime.

Kei felt that someone that was more responsible than Midoriya Izuku should obtain the quirk One For All. No matter how he thought about it, Midoriya Izuku was far too reckless when he had the quirk. It was to the point where Kei felt that Izuku was trying too hard to fill All Mights place before he was ready.

As of now Kei just felt the same as All Might. They both just had to keep an eye out for someone that had the qualities to pass One For All to.

'Maybe it is fate for Midoriya Izuku to obtain One For All' thought Kei as he realized that finding someone that would impress All Might would be a near impossible task for anyone to do

As Kei was finishing his thoughts, All Might finally spoke with a smile on his face "since young Shou rejected my quirk there is nothing else I can do but continue looking"

All Might stood up and said "I do not know how long it will take me to find someone with the qualities I am looking for but I am sure that he or she is out there. Now I just need to be patient and wait for the moment we meet"

"You are right, I am sure that person is out there" said Kei to All Might with a confident look on his face

To both All Might and Detective Naomasa, they wondered how Kei had so much confidence in All Might actually finding someone. After all, neither of them knew that Kei knew what was going to happen in the near future.

"Well then, it was nice coming here to visit you two and have a chat but it is time I head out" said All Might as he said his goodbyes to Detective Naomasa and Kei before heading out the door

Now that All Might had left, Kei decided to head over to Shou's house to ask him why he rejected All Mights offer.

Kei told Detective Naomasa where he was going before he took out his smart phone and headed out the door.

When Kei arrived at Shou's house. Shou was already waiting for him in front of the house.

Once the two finished greeting each other, they made their way inside to Shou's living room.

Kei and Shou then sat on the couch and started talking about various things that had been going on recently.

Although Kei had gone to Shou's house to hear why he had rejected One For All, he did not want to start their conversation with that and instead work it in their conversation after some time had passed.

After almost an hour of conversing with each other, Kei noticed that Shou's parents were not around. When he asked Shou, he told Kei that they had gotten a sudden flash of inspiration on how to make a better longer lasting energy source and had been hard at work in their lab for the past couple of days.

When Kei heard that, he wondered how that new energy source would compare to the arc reactor that he was familiar with from the comics he had read.

Once Kei and Shou finally ran out of things to talk about, Kei finally got to ask Shou the question he had come to ask

"All Might told me he finally came to see you" said Kei with a smile on his face

When Shou heard what Kei said, he smiled wryly and said "yeah, he did, it was amazing getting to meet him in person"

"It really is amazing isn't it" said Kei as he recalled the first time he met All Might

Once he finished remembering his first meeting with All Might, Kei then asked Shou the question that was on his mind "why did you reject getting One For All?"

"Because I don't need it" said Shou right away

After a brief moment of silence Shou said to Kei "you know, like everyone else I dreamed of being as strong as All Might. To have a quirk that would be useful for hero work but the reality was that I was not blessed with a quirk"

No matter who it was, everyone wanted a great quirk. Sadly for Shou he did not even have a quirk and that always made him feel lesser than other kids his age.

To Shou learning that he would never have a quirk, was the same as the world saying he could never achieve his dream of being a hero.

"I always felt that my odds of being a hero were zero, so I just gave up on it" said Shou as he remembered his past self before he met Kei

"Then one day I met you and in no time at all I made my first friend" said Shou as he continued "the day you told me that I could also be a hero even if I don't have a quirk, I felt that as long as I did not give up and put all the effort I possibly could, then I could definitely achieve my dream"

As the two sat there silently on the couch Shou then asked Kei with a serious look on his face "do you still think I can achieve my dream without a quirk?"

When Kei heard Shou's question, he understood why Shou had rejected All Mights offer to become his successor.

To the Shou of now, being a hero who was born with no quirk, meant more to him than anything else.

The reason for that was that if he could achieve his dream in that way, then that would inspire others who were born quirk less to work hard and achieve the same success as him.

Kei looked at Shou and said with a big smile on his face "of course I do, now more than ever"

Kei and Shou talked a while longer and then decided to go out to the arcade and play for a while.
