Chapter 7

[A/N:I want to know if I should help Merlin and Arthur or I should just do my own thing.]

Hadrian POV

I was interrogated by Morgana who found out practically everything that happened during the celebratory feast as the next day I was with Gaius discussing all the current affairs in Camelot as I said"You know I heard from one of my contacts that Devlin was killed."

Gaius stopped working on his potions as he asked"You mean Devlin the sorcerer who sells illegal magic enchanted artifacts."I gave a nod said, "Yes he died by snakebite which was weird one of my contacts asked around and said before his death a knight was seen running out of the shop carrying a shield."Though my contacts are owls they did see Valiant.

Gaius was thoughtful as he asked, "Do you think that knight will show up for the tournament."I shrugged and replied, "The chances are great."Just then Merlin entered the room losing his armor along the way, Gaius seeing his state chuckled and asked"So, how was your first day as Arthur's servant?"

Merlin taps his head as he questioned"Do you hear clanging?"I snickered hearing that as Merlin sits at the table wearing his tunic. As Gaius began to massage Merlin's shoulders as Merlin asked"Ah! It was horrible and I've still got to learn all about tournament etiquette by the morning."Merlin then casts a spell 'Onhríne achtung bregdan' a book slides to Merlin on the table and opens up.

Gaius slaps Merlin on the back of his head and said"Oi! What've I told you about using magic like this?"Merlin retorts"If I could actually feel my arms, I'd pick up the book myself."

Gaius reminds him"Never mind your arms. What do I do if you get caught?"I looked at Merlin and said"You might want to be careful as you never know someone is watching you."

Merlin nodded and then questioned, "What would you do if I was caught?"Gaius sighed and replied, "Well, you just make sure it doesn't happen, for both our sakes."Gaius then goes back to treating Merlin's shoulders.

Merlin groaned and asked"Ah! I save Arthur from being killed and I end up as a servant. How is that fair?"Gaius answered" I'm not sure fairness comes into it. You never know, it might be fun."

Merlin scoffed at that and said"You think mucking out Arthur's horses is going to be fun? You should hear my list of duties."

Gaius explained"We all have our duties. Even Arthur."Merlin sarcastically said, "It must be so tough for him with all the girls and the glory."

Gaius shook his head and said"He is a future king. People expect so much of him. He's under a lot of pressure." He presses hard on Merlin's arm as I decided to speak my thoughts"What Gaius say's is true. Uther is placing a lot of pressure on Arthur. He wants Arthur to be this perfect heir."

Merlin thought about it and muttered"Ah! That makes two of us."

Merlin then looked at me and questioned"Also what is that spell you cast Hadrian,I couldn't find it anywhere."I was looking through Gaius' work as I replied"It's a spell from my Family Grimoire."Merlin in confusion questioned"Family Grimoire?"

I shrugged and explained"Family Grimoire is basically a spell book with magic spells created by my family."Merlin shrugged and started to read the book on Etiquette.

I went to my home in Camelot where I had enchanted a room to make it similar to the 'Room Of Requirements' as I started training for the tournament.

It created opponents for me to go against as I easily went offensive against him with each strike making him back up and was able to slice one of the swordsman1 inferior blade in half. While swordsman 1 looks down at the impotent weapon in his hand. Taking advantage of the confusion I trusted my sword through swordsman1's abdomen, then waited for the next opponent. I waited as 4 swordsmen appeared then surrounded me as I quickly readied my sword and raised my blade diagonally in front of my eyes as the multiple enemies attacked together as I parried and dodged slashing through them like butter killing four men two of them didn't die immediately but the blade-inflicted wound caused them to scream, grunt and their bodies were twitching as they were dying due to the loss of blood.

I let out a breath as the room changed back to normal making all the dead bodies and blood disappear.

Guinevere and Morgana sit excitedly in the stands of the tournament grounds as the competitors enter the arena. Merlin peeks around the entrance as Uther struts past the front line of knights and announced"Knights of the realm, it's a great honor to welcome you to a tournament at Camelot. Over the next three days, you will come to put your bravery to the test, your skills as warriors, and of course, to challenge the reigning champion, my son, Prince Arthur. Only one can have the honor of being crowned champion, and he will receive a prize of 1,000 gold pieces."

A box is opened revealing the gold as Uther continued"It is in combat that we learn a knight's true nature, whether he is indeed a warrior or a coward. The tournament begins!"

The crowd cheers. The knights exit the arena.I saw Uther stops by Arthur on his way to the stands and speaks to him in a low voice. Then Uther slaps his back. Guards take Arthur, and me along with the other knight's capes, and they put on helmets. The crowd cheers and Guinevere whoops. Arthur and the knight fight.

I saw Merlin cheer for Arthur "Yeah! Come on!"Arthur won the round easily and the crowd cheers.I also won my fight without much hassle.I also watched Valiant wins his bout. Meanwhile, other knights compete. Arthur and Merlin watch Valiant fighting. Merlin looked at me and said, "Knight Valiant looks pretty handy with a sword."Let's go find Arthur" as we found him we also saw Valiant stops near Arthur and say"May I offer my congratulations on your victories today?"

Arthur nodded and said"Likewise."

Valiant asked, "I hope to see you at the reception this evening."Valiant leaves with his servant as Merlin muttered"Creep."Arthur snorted hearing that as he asked"Uh, for tomorrow you need to repair my shield, wash my tunic, clean my boots, sharpen my sword, and polish my chainmail."I send Merlin a look of sympathy as Merlin just nodded.
