Don't be so Scared

Han turned to face the survivors and smiled thinly. They all had to die. Not because they trapped him with zombies, but because they would know his capabilities. The moment they find out that it was Han who killed every zombie inside, and even kicked open the barricade, they would know something very detrimental to him.

While Han doubted they would survive, the mere possibility of them surviving was a threat to his disguise. It was better to be sure of everything.

A sixteen year old that killed an apartment filled with zombies, kicked down a barricade with brute strength, murdered in cold blood, and could move a substantial distance in a single step. It sounded ridiculous, and yet when a rumor is repeated long enough then people will start to believe it.

His identity was an advantage, it was unsuspected. In a place where law and order are abolished, Han was sure he would face many that would take advantage of this to do anything they want. And if Han encountered those with guns, well, he wasn't invincible yet. Any advantage was needed.

With fresh blood still dripping from the edge of his cleaver. Han dived into the crowd and started the slaughter.

Amelia and the patients could only quiver in fear as blood splattered through the whole hallway. The screams of the survivors made them want to cover their ears, but they couldn't even move due to terror.

Like a wolf among sheep, Han cut them all down in single strokes with his cleaver. Despite their screams of mercy, no one was left in one piece. It was such a gruesome sight that most of the amputees puked, some even fainted. Amelia's eyes were already tearing up as Han cut off the head of the remaining survivor.

At that moment, she knew that she was looking at a monster in a teenager's body. He turned to face them, the only ones left alive, and he paced ever so slowly towards them.

Amelia's legs gave way and she fell to the floor. All she could do was watch as Han arrived in front of them. The amputees were already groveling, begging for mercy until their throats hurt.

It was no use. Han beheaded five of the amputees and spilled the guts of the last one.

Now only Amelia remained. Han stared at her with cold eyes, with his lips forming a smile. It fitted his childish figure so much, and yet if anyone knew what he did just before, then they would be appalled.

Han wasn't even a big kid, he was merely five foot and four inches. Yet, his presence was overwhelming. With her mouth agape, Amelia could only sob.

"I'm going to give you a choice, Amelia. Follow my every order and I'll keep you alive, or don't, then I'll be forced to feed you to him"

Han said as he pointed at the sixth amputee who had his guts spilled all over the floor. The corpse started twitching, its head slowly bent upwards while it groaned. Before the zombie could stand up, Han stepped on it.

Amelia shook her head rapidly and backed away. Her legs found the strength to run but her efforts were simply useless as she slipped on blood. Han groaned, he had never been the charming kind, it was always like this even in the past, he convinced people much better using fear. With a mere glance, he focused the aura of death on Amelia.

She froze in place, and Han asked once more,

"If you make the wrong move again, I'll make sure you get eaten alive."

He would do it, Amelia knew that. She remained in place for a long time, trembling. Han's foot started to sore, and he was starting to wonder if he should just go by himself.

The plan was to get her to drive him to the outskirts, wherever that was. Although Han was knowledgeable about lots of things, in this world, those meant little. All he had were the memories of Hanne, and Hanne knew close to nothing at all that was valuable.

"I-I'm going with you." Amelia finally said as she fixed her gaze on the floor. Han probably won't see that intense gaze he saw from her yesterday for a while. She was scared shitless.

"Pack up some food and drinks, then get my backpack in my apartment," Han ordered as he stomped on the zombie's head. "Get that bleeding on your forehead fixed while you're at it."

She meekly followed his orders. If Han had to choose to be either a respected leader or a feared one, he would be feared if he couldn't be both. From now on, Amelia would never dare to disobey his orders.

When Amelia came back, she carried three duffel bags and Han's backpack. Han had retracted his aura, and yet Amelia wouldn't even meet his gaze. Han merely let out a sigh and led her to the elevator. Her mental state should stabilize soon enough.

They soon arrived on the ground floor and as Han was removing the barricade, he noticed Amelia fidgeting.

"I said, I won't let you die. You don't have to be so nervous."

Han removed the baseball bat he wedged between the handles and opened the door. What greeted him was the sight that he left yesterday. Hordes of undead, and that ugly horrid creature with long legs. Last time, he ran like a bitch. This time, he'll make quick work of this. As long as he didn't have to face a thousand of them, stamina wasn't a problem.

"Come, I'll show you." Han strolled out the door, with his cleaver in one hand and baseball bat in the other.

The zombies advanced first, but that thing with long legs charged faster. It screeched unbearably loud as it plunged at Han. Han swung his baseball bat with the full force of 100 kilograms, it met the head of the creature with a sickening splat.

Its body flew half a block away and crashed on a car. It died instantly just like that. The only thing left to bother him was the horde of zombies. There was no suspense at all as he decapitated the whole horde like it was nothing. Bodies stacked along the streets due to his spree, and before he knew it, the only things left were cars and corpses.

He peered at Amelia who was peeking from the door and chuckled, "Get the bags, you're going to drive me to my parents."

Amelia didn't delay at all and came with the luggage, however, she moved sluggishly. Han overstepped right in front of her and yanked all the duffel bags away from her hands.

"Find a car, don't be so slow," Han complained,

Amelia nodded, scanned the area, and hurried over to a thick yellow car with 'Toyota' engraved on the front of it. She looked inside, then after a few seconds hastened back towards Han, still avoiding eye contact.

"T-That cruiser over there, it still has keys."

Han nodded and overstepped there with the bags, dropped them behind the car, and entered the passenger seat. Amelia ran back again, opened the trunk, and threw in the bags. She proceeded to the driver's seat, yet did nothing but squirm in her seat,

"Amelia, what are you doing? Don't tell me that you don't know how to drive." Han said as he clutched his cleaver.

"I do! I do, it's just that I don't know where we're going..." She chuckled forcefully and peered out the window with sweat dripping down her face.

Han smiled thinly, "Amelia, didn't I already tell you yesterday? Don't be so scared that you can't think straight. If I was going to kill you, you would have been dead a long time ago. As long as you do what I ask, you will be relatively safe. Now, start the car, then drive me to the outskirts."

Amelia merely nodded and did what she was asked. The car moved forward, and Han felt rather amazed at how it worked. He stared at the dashboard as Amelia was driving, and squinted as he didn't understand what any of those meant at all. There was also the radio, he knew what its purpose was from Hanne's memory.

He reached out his hand, to which Amelia flinched causing Han to chuckle. He opened the radio and searched for any broadcast that was on. The first radio station he found was a looping broadcast.

It was the voice of a man, calm and unhurried, "All uninfected, head towards the northern outskirts of the city. The military has taken control of the outbreak and is commencing the evacuation."

"You hear that, Amelia?"

Amelia nodded and focused on the road as another zombie had to be run over.

Han searched for radio stations again and found music. He was struck with familiarity as he listened to what Hanne remembered as rock music. It was a man singing to drums and what's called an electric guitar. He didn't know if it was the influence of the memories, but Han really did like the music.

"This is good shit!" Han blurted out, he smiled at Amelia, and for once, since this morning, Amelia felt as if he wasn't actually going to kill her cruelly. Han started banging his head to the music without knowing, and Amelia stole glances at the boy who could kill zombies as easily as he could kill humans, headbanging.

"And it tortures slow

Never lets you go

Deals a crooked hand."

The singer's voice drowned out the chaotic symphony of the city, and Han found out for the first time what a normal day felt like to Hanne before everything went to shit.
