"Everything looks good but... what's with that karma!?"

To say he was surprised would be an understatement.

As he was in a human mortal body, all of his memories as a soul were dormant. All he could remember were his conversation with the weird being in the void and very specific details of his previous lives.

This is what would happen every time he reincarnated in a new body. He would retain memories of his past life but forget most of the things from the ones before that, to the point where if you were to ask him, he would barely be able to talk about his last three lives.

So, in a sense, this was the first time he carried a memory fragment from his time as a soul over to one of his reincarnations.

"My memories are hazy."

Shaking his head Adam stood up and walked to the bathroom that was a few meters away from his bed. Once inside he removed his boxers and entered the shower.

"I'm so glad I'm rich in this life."

Looking around the bathroom that was twice as big as his apartment in his past life put a silly smile on his face.

Getting out of the shower, Adam stood in front of the mirror by the sink as he checked himself out.

Ever since he entered high school Adam started playing sports. Be it football, basketball, or track and field, whenever they needed an extra guy, he would be there to help.

If you added his daily workouts and genetics from his deceased parents, the result was...

Well, let's just say that if Adam felt like becoming a sports model, he would greatly increase his already excessive monetary assets.

The dude was jacked.

Not in an excessive way but to the point where one would have to think twice before messing with him.

Contrary to his imposing body, his face was that of a lady-killer.

His red hair and green eyes were a deadly combination against women. If it wasn't for him liking someone for a long time, then...

"Wait a minute..."

Adam hurried out of the bathroom. He even forgot to hold the towel in place, so it fell somewhere around the room.

Standing butt-naked in front of his 400 inches TV which covered a good chunk of the wall in front of his bed, he hurriedly turned it on.

"Good morning, Star City! We hope all of you are having a wonderful morning as I am! The other day-"

A hint of anxiousness was ever-present in his eyes. One that kept growing the more the anchorman from the morning news channel didn't get to the point.

"Now! To start the day, we have a news report on yesterday's ' A-Rank Gate Break'! Gary, we are listening!"

'This guy is so cheesy.'

" Thank you, Mark! As you can see, I'm standing by the site where the A-Rank Gate Brake took place. Yesterday, at around 11 PM, an A-Rank Gate broke open in front of the "Star Honor Museum of Arts" here at Halland Street. Damages were kept at a minimum and no lives were lost thanks to the early intervention of S-Rank Hunter Kakashi Hatake, along with his guild members and rising star hunters A-Rank Naruto Uzumaki and A-Rank Sasuke Uchiha. The members of Guild Konoha worked in perfect coordination and took down the wyvern monsters in a record time of 32 minutes! Breaking their previous record by 3 minutes! Now we have an exclusive interview-"

Adam turned the TV off and fell backward towards his bed.

"This can't be happening."

After thinking back on his childhood friend, who happens to be the girl he likes, he couldn't help but try to confirm if her existence was a simple coincidence or not. He was never interested in hunter work, at least not until now when he got his memories back.

Now he had to become a hunter. If the levels on his status are legit then killing monsters is the way for him to grow stronger. A theory he would have to test eventually.

Although faint, the memory of having to hide from the gods was still there. More than a memory it was like a programmed thing that he was aware of.

But now, having recollected his conversation with that strange being from the void he knew that nothing could stop him now.

This was a world with no god. A world meant for him to rule when the time comes.

"Now that my future career is clear what do I do about her..."

Rumi Usagiyama. Ever since he can remember Rumi has been in his life.

Both Adam's and Rumi's parents knew each other for decades. They shared a beautiful friendship dating back to their middle school days and they carried that friendship over to their children.

The four of them were fellow Hunters, who worked at the same guild.

Adam's father, James Zenith, was the Guild Master of said guild. A guild that was in the top 3 of Star City's strongest guilds at the time.

A ranking that changed when he and his wife, Rose Zenith, died during an emergency SSS-Rank Gate Break. An event that went down in history as: "The Downfall of the Zeniths, the Strongest Hunter Couple", marking them as heroes who saved Star City during a disaster of high magnitude in exchange for their lives.

A choice of words that Adam didn't like very much.

After that event, Rumi's parents, who were out on a mission in a different City, took Adam in as their son.

For more than ten years he lived with them until he decided that enough was enough and came back to his old house.

Is not that he hated them or anything. Quite the opposite.

At this point, in his heart, Rumi's parents were as important to him as his real parents.

The love and affection they raised him with, in the absence of his parents, is something he will always be thankful for.

He was sure that he couldn't have asked for better foster parents.

The main issue was that, if he kept living under the same roof as them, his relationship with Rumi would never evolve beyond that of a childhood friend or siblings.

"She likes me back though..."

Or at least that was the thought process of Adam before getting his memories back. Poor guy was too dense to realize she liked him back.

"Well, this works too, I guess. Is not as if I can get intimate with her when the time comes with Pops and Mother around."

"But... Mirko uh? Although she is a few years younger than in MHA's canon she's undeniably that bunny hero.

No, that's wrong. Even though they share physical and personality characteristics they are not the same person. This is reality Adam, don't let it get to your head."

Nodding to himself Adam decided to be more frontal towards Rumi. He wouldn't rush it, but he wouldn't take it easy either.

" I have to get my Awakener ID as soon as possible..."

Awakeners. A term used for humans who awakened supernatural abilities.

Rumi was an aspiring D-Rank hunter. She worked at a high-ranking guild, the very same guild that Adam's parents founded along with Rumi's. In a way, she was working for her parents now since they were the ones taking care of the guild.

Yeah, she didn't love that.

Mr. Usagiyama, Rumi's father, was a bit overprotective. He made it clear that Rumi had to reach the A-Rank at least if she ever wanted to leave for a different Guild.

" I think I can convince pops If I also join the same Guild as her though."

If he wanted to become a hunter the first step was to get tested and get an ID card at the Hunter Association Center.

Adam was planning to analyze his current situation and consider his future moves for a bit longer but...at this point, it was starting to get cold.

"I should get dressed."

.....

" Dressed and ready~."

Taking the elevator down to the underground parking lot that belongs to the mansion he lived in, Adam fidgeted with his phone as he checked his unread messages.

Louis- "Yo! Where are you at?! MicroBio is bout to start ya know? You still in bed with a hangover?"

'This dude.'

Me-" Hey man I'll be skipping classes today. I'll talk to you later."

Louis-" Must be nice. My head is killing me. I shouldn't have mixed so much shit."

Me-"That's why I always drive. You're welcome."

Louis-"Meh, thanks, I guess. Teach is here so I'm out. See ya~"

'How is this guy even in college at this point? All he does is drink his ass off.'

Scrolling down he also noticed another message from last night.

Rumi- "You up?"

"Shit. I'm now seeing this. I might've been a bit tipsy last night after all."

Since he was about to meet her anyways, he sent a quick message just as the doors of the elevator opened.

Me- "Hey, was asleep at that time. I'll pick you up in a few so get ready."

As a newbie, Rumi had a very fixed schedule for guild work. Since she couldn't go by herself to invade gates or fight off monster hordes during a gate break, she only went to the guild on fixed days or during low-rank gate break emergencies, in which at least a B-rank hunter would go with her.

One may think that this was due to her father's overprotectiveness but in reality, all the top guilds followed these guidelines to prevent any unwanted accident during a 'hunt'.

Today, happened to be a free day for her.

Getting inside his black Mercedes-Benz GLS, Adam put the phone away and called out his status screen.

Now that he noticed, there was a small "!" sign next to the power section, which happened to be unlocked.

"Open the Power section too."
