3 Chapter 3: Extreme Heat

For the next few days, things progressed as normal as it could.

Zenkichi was relaxing around in the house, sometimes doing some physical training exercises to pass the time, while his mom had gone to work everyday except yesterday as it was sunday, no work in sundays. Sundays the best.

In these few days, Zenkichi received the remaining MCU rewards and, he's got to say, they are amazing.

It has been a very progressive few days, being gifted with a lot of awesome gadgets but Zenkichi gets blue balled because he couldn't use most of them out due to how flashy they are. But, this day's the most special day of the week for him.

Day seven and the day he goes to school.

'Please be the super soldier serum, please be the super soldier serum, please be the super soldier serum...' Zenkichi wished so hard as he sat upright on his bed, his hair messy and two of his fingers from each different hand were intertwined.

Zenkichi stared blankly at the interface in front of him. Confused at the reward he was given, after all, he had only watched the marvel movies like any normal guy would. He wouldn't pay every attention of detail to it like a die hard fan would or a guy wanting to write a fanfic of it.

"What the heck is a extremis–AHHHHHH!!" His ear piercing scream sounded throughout his entire house and even reached the outside.

Zenkichi fell down to the floor, still wearing his sleep wear of a white T-shirt and black shorts, his mouth opened as he screamed in pain. His entire skin, tissues, blood vessels and nerves, while outlining them inside the body had turned orange and red, his eyes glowing with the same color and intensity as well.

The door to his room was forcibly opened, causing its hinges to to fall off, and in came the worried mother of Zenkichi; Hitomi Hitoyoshi.

"Zenkichi! What's going on?! I heard you scream and I–oh my god!" Hitomi gasped in shock at the state of what her son is currently in.

Zenkichi stopped screaming as soon as he saw his mom enter the room, gritting his teeth, he tried to calm down and let whatever changes happening to his body be done with.

As soon as that thought entered his mind, the burning feeling in his body soon started to fade and cool down. Information then started to appear inside his head.

Extremis: an advanced form of genetic manipulation created by Maya Hansen and Aldrich Killian, using nanotechnology. It grants the human body the ability to heal and regenerate from physical damages, deformities and even psychological damages. This also includes the regrowth of severed limbs in a very short timespan, various physical enhancements as well as an exothermic ability. Extremis also enhances physical performance, granting superhuman strength, reflexes, and overall higher resilience.

Zenkichi slowly let out a breath of relief, only to see embers flying out of his mouth. His brow twitched as he used his hands to get himself sit up crosslegged on the burnt floor. His clothes also burnt to embers and ashes, though he still has his undies on.

'I remember now, this was that virus that Tony had trouble dealing with in Iron Man 3. Rapid regeneration along with enhanced physical capabilities, extremis sounds more useful than the super serum but has a couple major weaknesses that I need to get rid off or I'll die.' All while he was busy planning on what to do next, Hitomi continued staring at her son in shock.

'That, did Zenkichi awakened his abnormality? Or is it a minus? He isn't showing any psychotic behavior to prove the latter, so is it the former? But, that shouldn't even be possible, neither would. I've quadrupled checked his entire physiology and psychology, from when he was a mere toddler to just last year. All results showed that he's completely normal, yet... Why is he showing the capability to generate extreme heat from his body? Is that his ability? Boy heat manipulation? I suppose that still lands on the abnormality category, but it could still be a minus as well! What is going on, is he supposed to be a late bloomer?' Hitomi stared at her son in growing concern.

Zenkichi finally notices his mother staring at him and it momentarily made him panicked. She had saw him being cooked alive right in front of herself, there was no bullshitting his way of this unless his mom is either dense or stupid.

'....Despite how she looks and acts, she's still a freaking doctor! She had graduated for pete's sakes! No matter how anime like this world is, no one would give my mother a medical degree if she's acting what she normally does. What should I do?' Zenkichi's expression turned black, cold sweat dripping down his face. He stared face down, unwilling to look at his mother for the fear of being found out.

"Zenkichi." He involuntarily flinched, mechanically raising his head up, expecting to see his mother's face plastered with suspicion on him, he was however brought forward down for a hug. "It's okay, everything's going to be alright."

Zenkichi's eyes widened in surprise. Uh, what was going on? Why was his mother comforting him like he had his heart broken? Why isn't she freaking out?!

"Uhh..."

"You might be confused about what's going on Zenkichi, but what you're experiencing is something akin to what those characters in mangas do; awakening their hidden powers." Hitomi slightly pushed Zenkichi back and then stared at her son with serious expression.

"Zenkichi, you, me, Medaka-chan and others more are what is called Abnormal, and I'm not talking about An Abnormal is an individual possessing overwhelming capabilities such that the individual is unable to control that aspect of themselves and inherently seeks to master this power. An Abnormality is the specific, beyond human ability that an Abnormal possesses."

"What you have Zenkichi, from what I could tell, is an abnormality that lets you control your body heat to an extreme level that can let you either melt almost anything into liquid or set anything on fire. I'm still not so sure what you could do, without conducting any deep analysis you and I wouldn't know what other abilities you have." Zenkichi blinked his eyes, his expression slowly morphed into one of terror.

"Analysis? Are we talking about only blood tests, x-ray, show practice of what I could do or–?"

"–Dissecting your body to pry further into what you can do? No silly, I won't ever do that to my son." Hitomi giggled at Zenkichi's relieved expression, amused at what he and she had said.

Zenkichi chuckled. "What? Is that your superpower? Future vision or something?"

Hitomi shook her head, "Actually no, my skill, or abnormality, is called Mother's Task: the skill gives me the knowledge on how to perform motherly tasks or general methods of ensuring that one's family is well cared for. I had this skill when I had turned twelve, making me skilled at gardening, cooking, and cleaning. Hehe~ aren't I good Zenkichi? Your mom here is as good as she is when she was still twelve." She said with a smug expression.

Zenkichi stared flatly at his mother, looking at her from head to toe, he opened his mouth to say something but decided not to.

'Did, did she come to the conclusion that, due to her skill, that she isn't growing up correctly? Or is she in denial of it all even to this day?' Staring at his still smug looking mother, who's looking so happy, he didn't dare to bring up his thought to her vocally.
