3 Chapter 02 - Living with the Hyoudou Family
Two years after,
[Good morning, Master.] A voice in my said. It must be the system I asked from the Goddess.
[Correct, Master.] The system replied. I haven't asked a question yet. It looks like it can read my mind. That's a bit convenient.
[That's right, Master.]
"Why did you just arrived now?"
[During the span of two years, the Goddess was creating me. After she created me, she already sent me to you. She haven't checked for system bugs that's why if there's something wrong with me, send a message to her and she'll fix it. Does that satisfy your question, Master.]
"Thanks. But what's with this master thing?"
[My whole purpose is to serve you, not you serving me.]
"Does that mean the quests have no penalty?"
[Correct]
"I don't like that. Add penalties to quest."
[Are you sure Master? People will call you a system slave.]
"That's fine. Without penalties, there's no motivation. I know there's rewards but I don't want to do a quest half-heartedly. Also, this is my story, if they came here to complain, then they should make their own story."
[If you say so, Master. [Adding penalties to main quests... Adding complete] Master, would you like to do the first quest?]

"Sure. Let me see... Okay. And stop calling me Master, system. Just call me Kazumi and I'll call you Rie."
[Understood, my name is Rie. Thank you, Kazumi-sama.]

Four years have passed since the birth of Itsuki. I am able to learn things much faster than most kids. By the time I was five months old, I could already sit up, and by the seventh month, I could already walk. In these four years, my appearance has changed. My hair has grown and it is shiny black, likely due to the genes from both of my birth parents. I believe, all of this is because of my fallen angel blood.
For those years, I was also able to know my adoptive parents' names; Gorou for my dad and Miki for my mom. Sometimes, our grandparents would come over, our grandpa's name being Juzo, and our grandma, Keiko.
"Onii-chan! Play with me!" My little sister told me. Itsuki's appearance also changed. Her hair was just like our parents'. She was very clingy and followed me everywhere, sleeping, playing, eating, and bathing. She was also very energetic, which I thought might be due to the dragon in her soul.
The dragon in her soul is currently asleep. I felt the energy radiating from her though it's very weak. You couldn't feel it unless you look closely. That may be the reason why the supernatural factions couldn't sense the dragon in her soul.
During those years, I have completely assimilated Argus' memories and power. When I did, it felt like I've lived his life. My body and mind became stronger. Sometimes, my hand itches for a sword to swing. Fortunately, a stick works.
Yeah I should join a Kendo Club once I'm old enough. Sticks are temporary, wooden swords are eternal.

A few years have passed. While Itsuki and I were playing, a boy suddenly approached us. He introduced himself to us, his name was Shidou Irina. He, no, she asked if we could play with her. We agreed and from that day forward, we kept playing with each other.
Sometimes we visited each other's houses. Our parents eventually met Irina's parents. We even had a sleepover that day.
When going to Shidou's residence, I always hid my powers with the system's help. Though they won't kill me, I still couldn't risk it.
That's part of the reason why. Itsuki loved playing with Irina. And I don't want to take that away from her by accidentally revealing my powers.

While it's great to have nice things, time will pass by and it will come to an end.
Irina is leaving. After Irina said that, Itsuki went close to her and hugged her. Itsuki was with Irina, spending Irina's last days on Kuou. The two were together everyday.

Today was the day Irina was leaving. Together with my family, we bid farewell to the Shidou Family.
"Let's meet again okay! We have so much stuff to do together!"
"I promise I will!"
"Pinky promise?" My sister extended her pinky finger to Irina.
"Pinky promise!" Irina also extended her pinky to Itsuki's.
"I'm gonna miss you." My mother said.
"I will miss you too. We're already leaving and you still haven't told me why you look so young."
"Ara, well..." My mother glanced at my father who jumped a bit.
"What's wrong?" Irina's father asked.
"It seems that I won't be sleeping tonight." My father replied.
"Goodluck to you. Let's have a drink again next time." Irina's father then went to me, "Next time, make sure that you're hiding it." Ah. I may have let down my guard and forgot.
"I-I'll keep that in mind."
He smiled and patted my head. "Take care of your sister, they might take interest on her."
"You noticed that too?"
He smiled once again and left.
"Kazumi!"
"Irina?"
"Are you not going to say goodbye to me?"
"We'll see each other again right? I'll see you later." I turned around but before I could turn away, I felt something on my lips.
"S–See you later too!" Irina ran away, without me saying anything back.
"That's unfair." My sister said. I guess she wanted a kiss from her too.
"She got to kiss you like that? I couldn't even kiss you on that place." Or maybe not.

Years have passed since. I'm now 11 years old and so is Itsuki. I've been exploring Kuou lately with my sister. The dragon in her soul is still asleep luckily. Now then, why am I exploring?
Because in my past life, I wasn't able to go to Japan. Now that I am one and born in Japan. Why not?
We encountered a shrine when we're exploring. It's not that far from our house. Just a 17 minute walk. We also met two girls there. Their names are Himejima Akeno and Himejima Yuuma. The two of them was dressed in a shrine maiden outfit. It looked cute on them. I still remember our interaction back then.
"Hello! Have you come to pray?" Akeno said with a smile.
"Or play!" While Yuuma said in a cheerful smile.
"...Cute."
"Ara, thank you." Akeno giggled.
"T–Thank you..." Yuuma bashfully looked away.
"Tch. Now there's three of them." Itsuki quietly said. I heard it though I acted like I heard nothing but a mumble. I looked at her and said.
"Itsuki?"
"What is it, Onii-chan?" She cocked her head while asking. Her eyes has these swirls. Feeling scared, I blinked my eye but the swirls on her eyes are gone.
"N–Nothing."
Since then, me and Itsuki have been going there playing. We also met their mother, Himejima Shuri. Everytime we go there, she always prepares snacks and drinks after we play.
We also met their father, Barakiel. At first he was against us– actually that's wrong, against me playing with his daughters. But then it was suddenly okay! I don't know what happened but I heard him say "The sofa looks comfy today."
Our parents eventually met. My mother was very close to Shuri-san. My father became buddies with Barakiel.
Now that I think of it, my parents don't know that they're friends with people who are involved in the supernatural.

As we keep playing together, there would be changes in our relationships of course. Itsuki and Yuuma are very close to each other. Me and Akeno are the same.

Today, I was going alone to the Himejima residence. Itsuki was sick. I also felt her dragon energy getting stronger. I am worried but Rie said that she'll be fine. My parents also said that she's going to be fine and I should go.
On my way, I saw a bracelet seller. I bought four. One for each of us.
While walking, I saw smoke coming from the direction of the shrine. I ran. I saw the temple on fire. I also saw Akeno standing there and looking at the temple, with bags on the floor. I ran to her and shook her.
"Akeno!"
She looked at me, shocked at what was happening.
"Akeno! Are you alright?" I asked.
"K–Kazumi! Mama and Yuuma-chan are still inside!"
"Calm down Akeno!"
"Calm down?! You want me to calm down?! My house is burning. Mama and Yuuma-chan might be dead and you want me to calm down?!"
"What!? Do you think panicking will save them?!"
"I– I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry too. Give me your hand."
"This is not the time for jokes, Kazumi!"
"Just give it to me!"
"Fine!" She gave me her hand. I slid the bracelet and gave her my phone.
"Call the emergency number and tell them that there's fire here, okay? Also, call your father!"
"Wait, are you going somewhere?"
"Yes, I'm going inside."
"Don't! I don't want to lose you too..."
"You haven't lost anyone. Trust me, okay?"
"Okay..."
"Then, I'll go in now."
"Be safe, okay!"
"Don't worry, I'll be fine."
As I climbed up the stairs, there are enemies everywhere. Good thing I bought 'Assassin Instinct' before.

I hid inside a bush, then after 1 second I became partially invisible. Boy, this skill of her is the reason why she's the top assassin.
I rushed inside. Then to their bedroom. I saw them passed out. I also heard three people outside. I can also sense a lot of them around the house.

I saw the quest popped up. And there's a lot of assassin when the targets are just three.
There's really no time to think about it. I need to save them. I need to activate that...
"Rie, activate Argus mode."
[Okay, Kazumi-sama!]
My body was covered in darkness and a second later, out came a person covered with a greenish-gray armor. Horns on the helmet. 6 black feathered wings on the back. Two clawed hands and a sword on the right hand.
It also undid the [Assassin Instinct's] effect.
I quickly grabbed Shuri-san and Yuuma gently and covered them with my wings as I force my way outside the house.

The quest popped up again and it updated. However, by saving them, it alerted the assassins. They started to come(🤨) at me.
*Insert Ice Skating Dunk*
...
They rushed at me, trying to kill me and the ones I'm holding on my shoulders.
The assassin quickly dashed to me but I cut him down with my sword.
It's the first time I took life... Well not the first time because I've became Argus... Anyways what did I feel?
I felt... Nostalgic. Especially punishing sinners.
Using my hand, I pulled them towards me. I plunged my sword into their chests. And when an assassin jumps at me, I slashed them.
Oh? It looks like they're headed for the two... HAHAHAHAHA DID YOU REALLY THINK I WOULD LET YOU!?
I pulled them using my chained hand, I slashed my sword and cut their heads off.
They started to fall down one by one.

The quest popped up once again. Already? There's only one left. Where's that little fucker? Ah there you are.
"H–Ha! You let your guard down!"
I felt my heart got stab. 1... 2... 3...
"Is that it?"
"H–How are you still alive!!"
"I dunno. Maybe because I'm immortal?"
"Y–You monster!"
"Yeah, yeah I heard that already." I called a monster by who you ask? Demons. I got called A monster by demons. Hilarious, I know. I raised my sword, intending to cut him down.
"W–wait! If you spare me, I'll give you what you want! Money? Women? Anything you want!"
"Oh? But I'm not interested in any of those."
"Th–Thank you for sparing me!"
"I never said I would though?" I said as I brought my sword down on his head.
"Huh?" That was the last thing he said before he got vertically split in two. I slashed my sword in the air to get rid of the blood. Thankfully it did not stick.

That's useful. Especially for greatly overpowering Devils and fallen Angels. I also felt a lot stronger than before.
[ Kazumi-sama, another pair of wings have sprouted. ] Well it took a while but my wings are now 4 pairs. I dunno much about the other Angels and Fallen Angels but my wings are special.
For each pair of wings I have, my power is multiplied by 10. Yes, like Tamamo No Mae. Huge Fate fan by the way. So now my power is : Four pairs = 10^4 = 10,000.
"Now then, where were we? Ah yes." I walked towards the two– no three. Barakiel was there. He was there, hugging the two. I walked to them with my sword dragging from the floor.
"Thank you for saving them."
"It's nothing. I'm just passing by."
"..."
"So, now that we got that out of the way, any idea who wanted them dead?"
"It must be Shuri's family. They were against us two after all."
"Okay, so what now? Where will you live?"
"We'll be staying in an apartment until we find a place to live."
"Alright. I guess It's time for me to leave."
"Thank you, Kazumi."
I guess I couldn't hide it after all. I guess I let my guard down again, "Since when?"
"Hahaha! I won't survive all these years if I don't observe my allies and enemies, will I?" Uncle Barakiel gave out a hearty laugh.
"Hey uncle, can you keep this a secret?"
"I don't know your reasons, but okay, I'll keep it a secret."
"Thanks!" I said as I unfurled my wings and flew towards the place where I left Akeno.

Earlier.
"I've called them. Please be safe, Kazumi."
"Oh? This is one of our targets right?"
"She is."
"Then I'll kill her. Blame your father for having those detestable wings." The guy rushed towards Akeno, intending to strike her down.
"N–Noooooo–!" The bracelet that Kazumi bought, was enchanted by him. It saves it's wearer from harm. Or it was supposed to.
A shockwave sent the man away. But his companion threw a kunai at her. The bracelet started to teleport her away but the kunai hit her before she could completely disappear.

Somewhere in the world,
"H–Help me..."
"I can help you. If you promise to be use of my sister. Do you agree?"
"Y–Yes..."
"Then, Rias."
"Yes, Onii-sama."

Another chapter huh?
You know, a day– no, 8 hours just passed yet the views are already 15k. Much more than my first fanfic(check it out if you can). It was actually a mistake that I posted the fanfic. I haven't even finished worldbuilding. Heck! I haven't finished the important parts!
Anyways, thanks for your support. And now it's 19.2 k amazing!
You might question why drop MC in the Hyoudou house and think that it's because MC wished for it but there's a much deeper reason why. I'll explain in a future chapter.
I got too busy that I haven't even completed chapter 6!
Maybe I'll continue on making the backstory of MC's birth parents.
Also, why did Akeno let Kazumi go inside and forget that Kazumi does not have any power?
That's because in a state of panic, you couldn't even think about those details. Look at it realistically. Imagine yourself infront of a fire. What would you think? If that person can save your family or that person can survive.
I know this rant has been long but this is the last one.
This fanfic has been on planing since November of 2023. I've been too busy at school. I took a business related subjects that's why.
Also, if you find any grammatical error, tell me and I'll fix it. Also plot holes. I'm not perfect.
