The assassin of the mist

"So will you start explaining or should we just abort the mission?" Kakashi looked at Tazuna with a narrowed eye. To be honest, he just wanted to abort the mission. Heading to a mission without sufficient information was like walking into death itself, nobody knows what would happen next.

But then he couldn't abandon him like that.

"I- i'll explain." Tazuna looked downward, the boat was heading slowly toward the land of waves, the vision was not too clear due to the mist. 

'The perfect place for assassination....if that idiot had created a better plan rather than just swinging a giant sword with overconfidence, then team seven might have ended that day...' I looked at the river below me, a few fishes were swimming along with the ripples, I wasn't really interested in his reasons a I already knew.

The misty and calm atmosphere, a single boat in the whole river, very low visibility and an upcoming assassination...what a perfect day...

"It's all due to a business man called 'Gato'. He took control of the land of wave's shipping routes and used it for smuggling and drug trafficking." Tazuna's voice was lashed with sadness and along with a hint of anger, "because of him the land of waves has been turned into a impoverished and hunger-stricken country. The economy has crumbled down....because of which we couldn't afford for the higher ranked mission." He said as he gritted his teeth and clenched his fists.

I couldn't help but feel a little sad hearing his explanation, I may not care much about others, but I'm not a heartless being....well most of the times...

"I won't go further than this, you are on your own now." The middle aged man with a pointed straw hat spoke anxiously. He had one life, which he certainly wasn't willing to sacrifice it for the sake of some strangers.

Getting of the boat, we started walking, the fog was so dense that even the path was becoming barely visible. No one felt anything wrong as it was natural around these areas.

Suddenly a frown appeared on Kakashi's face, as he sensed a subtle killing intent which grew stronger by second, "Everyone duck!" He yelled.

Everyone ducked at the same time, no one doubted his words as he was the 'strongest' among them, except for Naruto.

Out of nowhere a huge sword wiped over their head, Kakashi seeing that Naruto didn't duck, panicked and shouted, "NARUTO!!"

"Relax sensei~" Naruto said calmly, keeping is hand in his pocket, he dodged the slash with the minimum movement. The shockwave from slash even unveiled a slight bit of mist behind the group.

But before the attacker could even lower the sword, Naruto crouched a little bit, and jumped while simultaneously landing on the handle of the attacker's sword. Pushing the handle little bit with his foot, he kicked directly at the cheek of the attacker.

*slap*

A loud slapping sound was heard throughout the silent forest, the attacker flew away like a stone skipping in a pond, 'So much for calling himself a 'demon' of the hidden mist...'

I couldn't help but be disappointed, maybe it was because I became very strong too fast, or maybe it was because I was expecting Zabuza to be a little more stronger, I didn't know.

"Y'all fine?" I turned back, everyone was looking at me with their mouth and eyes both wide open. 'Well this expression makes it worth it, hahaha' 

Just as they were about to question me, the attacker appeared.

He had a tall muscular figure with light grayish skin, spiky black hair and dark brown eyes. Hie face was covered by a mask made of bandages, his upper half was naked, only striped with a belt, where he carried his giant sword, and he was wearing baggy pants in the lower half.

Dragging the giant sword he came forward, "I'm Zabuza Momochi" He said in a hoarse tone, "they call me the demon of the hidden mist" 

'Wow...what a polite dude, he even introduced himself'

Kakashi looked shocked as he heard the name, there was no way he didn't know about him as an ex-anbu himself. as one of the seven swordsman of the hidden mist, Zabuza had a notorious reputation.

Acknowledging the opponent as a notorious and difficult one, Kakashi lifted his forehead protector revealing his sharingan with three tomoes, "Naruto, come back!, you're not his opponent!"

"Calm down, sensei." I moved a step forward directly looking him in the eye, "well well, what a coincidence, they call me 'demon of the hidden leaf' too."

"What?" Zabuza asked with confused look, the expression of others behind me was saying, 'he's not wrong though...'

Zabuza's eyes widened when he looked at Kakashi, he recognized him as the latter did, "Kakashi with a sharingan...or should I say Kakashi the copy ninja?" His tone turned grave serious as he recognized he had to face not one but two strong opponents. He didn't even take the other three except Naruto and Kakashi as his opponent.

Sasuke's eye widened. How does Kakashi have a sharingan? Only the Uchihas should have it. He was sure that Kakashi wasn't an Uchiha. Just where did he get it from?

Little did the poor boy know that Kakashi wasn't even at fault. While his brother was busy assassinating his clan, a certain someone was busy collecting their eyes...

"Listen here, Zabuza-kun" I spoke as he looked at me again, "I'll use talk no jutsu for once, if you turn into a good boy, I'll leave you alive." 

"But if you don't, then that's totally a different situation isn't it?"

Even this was a ninja world, where death happened every second somewhere, I'd still want to not get blood on my hands. Although I'm not naïve to just take the blow doing nothing when someone comes for my life, I'd want to avoid killing as much as possible.

"What?" Zabuza got confused about what the kid in front of him was talking about. He wanted to slash his sword directly beheading the brat, but his instincts were screaming, if he did that, even his dead body won't remain.

"Now then let me begin, *ahem*, uhh....how does this go again" Maybe I should have listened to Naruto's speeches rather than skipping it, "uhh...see...you demon...me demon...you and I are the same...demon-demon, brothers-brothers....now come to the good side, I'll give you cookies."

[HAHAHAHAHAHA, I can't with this, AHHAHAHAHA!!]

'Oi! don't laugh, I thought really hard for this speech...'

Zabuza's eyes narrowed in irritation, in one side the people he sent failed in their mission...although he could see why they failed, it wasn't less annoying and there was also 'Gato' who was irritating him because he didn't complete his mission. 

And now there was this brat who was even more annoying. He didn't want to ignore his instincts, appearance could be deceiving. Haku, who worked with him was a perfect example of that, he looked androgynous and like a 'harmless' kid, but only those who faced him knew how 'harmless' he was...

"Just hand over that old man to me, and we can both go our ways." He decided to talk, using force was the dumbest idea here, he might be able to handle Kakashi by himself, but if the brat joined, he would be defeated.

"Nuh uh" I said wiggling my index fingers, "our 'way' is supposed to be protecting this old man, so your deal doesn't work."

"I see." Zabuza really wanted to thrust his sword directly into the brat's heart but his rational side said not to. Deciding he would return with Haku, who should be able to deal with Naruto while he would deal with Kakashi, he disappeared into the mist.

'Well at least the villain is using his brains here, I was expecting he would just dash toward me swinging his sword with a war cry...' I couldn't help but be amused.

[I told you this is a real world, everything is real here. Don't take this lightly.] Luna said in a firm tone, which was as rare as the tailed beasts, you would only hear it once in a while

'I know...'

"Naruto!" Sakura came rushing toward me, examining my whole body, "Are you fine? did you get hurt anywhere?" She asked worriedly.

I wiped the non-existing tears in my mind, 'see? I developed this girl!'

"I'm fine~" I replied as I patted her head, a happy smile bloomed in her face.

"Ahem", Kakashi cleared his throat seeing the pink atmosphere spread around. Although he wanted to question 'how Naruto was able to fend off a Jonnin level ninja' he decided ask on the way. Getting out of this place was important as another ambush could happen.

"Lead the way" Kakashi looked at Tazuna who was frozen stiff due to fear.

"Y-yes, this way." Tazuna answered as he jolted into awareness.

And with that, we started rushing toward Tazuna's residence. I could see Kakashi looking at me with curious glances,

'this is going to be a long long day....'
