7 Chapter 7 Trust

After a few seconds, Grisha hesitantly reached out and shook my hand. "So I see you're willing to work with me?" I asked as I took back my hand. 'I am just glad he didn't go berserk cause or else we'd have a real problem.' I thought as the man in front of me deliberated on something.

Eventually he shook his head and locked eyes with me. "I have to ask, are you from the outside world, cause I see no other way as to how you'd know about the outside world." Grisha answered me with another question.

Hearing this I wasn't surprised, after all if I was Grisha I too would have the same questions. "Not exactly, when I was young my father was a teacher and when he was teaching us history I had some questions which he answered after class, and due to my naivety he was detained and killed for his knowledge." I answered vaguely but I knew this wasn't enough.

After a brief pause I continued "At the time of course, I didn't know about this but that's beside the point. Due to my father's influence I yearned for the world outside the wall and ever since I have researched it in any way I can, through old books and manuscripts and bit by bit I pieced things together."

Grisha's expression calmed down hearing this, but I couldn't help but notice a flash of disappointment on his face. "I can accept that, although I wonder how you knew I was a titan shifter and not only that but the Attack Titan?" Grisha continued probing.

"Well I could go on and on with explanations, but although I'd prefer not to, I understand you have some reservations about this even though we've already made a sort of alliance. Firstly I know to get to here from the sea you would need to be a titan shifter or have a group of people with the necessary tools and skillset so that was an easy deduction to make seeing as you were alone and you seem to be a doctor by trade, but that wasn't my biggest sign." I answered him with some nonsense I made up on the spot.

"Then what was?" He replied, seemingly intrigued. "The fact that you killed the Reiss family." I said as immediately Grisha's expression changed to one of guilt and sorrow. After a short while he regained his composure and continued "Okay but how does that indicate that I am the Attack Titan?"

"Because only the Attack Titan regardless of the situation fights for the freedom of all Eldians, or at least that's what the records said so, are, you, Grisha Jaeger the Attack Titan the man who will fight for the freedom of all of us trapped behind these walls." I asked, I wanted Grisha's word so I could finally move on with my plans.

".....Yes." He answered. "Great then we can finally move on, I hope my words have convinced you somewhat because I need you to trust me for this plan to workout." I sighed with relief before rising from my seat.

"I can't say I have full faith in you, and I am sure not all you've said is true, but I rather as you've said fight for our freedom." Grisha replied as he moved to lead me out of the house.

"Understandable, but I have to ask, and I need an honest answer. How long do you have left?" I inquired as I looked at the man solemnly. "No shorter than 3 months, but no longer than 5." He stated with a somewhat distant gaze.

Seeing this I patted him on the shoulder as a sign of condolences as I reached for the door handle. "Then enjoy these last few months, I'll be preparing everything so the plan will go smoothly." I muttered before opening the door. I then handed him a letter before walking out of the house.

Outside Eren and Mikasa, mostly Eren, were asking Levi various questions about what was outside the walls, and what his experiences were like, and it was obvious he wasn't enjoying it then again it was hard to tell if or when Levi was mad due to the fact that he looked perpetually pissed off.

"Are we leaving?" He asked, with an almost joyful expression on his face, well "joyful". "Ya its time to go." I replied as I strode towards our horses. "You're sure you don't want to stay for lunch?" Carla asked with a smile.

"I'm sorry but we'll have to politely decline as we still have some work to do, but thank you for your hospitality regardless." I said as Carla, Eren, and Mikasa seemed a bit disappointed but alas I had many things to do and I had no time to waste.

Before we departed I locked eyes with Grisha once more nodding towards him, before riding away along with Levi.

Soon after we made it back to the Survey Corps' base of operations before I went straight to my room, sitting down at my desk. 'Now comes the hard part.' I thought to myself as I summoned Star Platinum.

It was finally time to train my stand.
