6 Chapter 6 Commander Erwin Smith

After the fall of Shiganshina the remaining civilians fled into Wall Rose as the Survey Corps held back the titans as best as we could, but sadly 1000 lives were still lost in the disaster.

The following day Wall Maria was finally breached by the Armoured Titan but luckily most of the civilians within Wall Maria had already fled to Wall Rose at that point, meaning many lives were saved.

All in all, a week had passed after the disaster but the situation wasn't good, food was scarce and the ensuing famine could lead to the loss of even more lives than the Titans had but that was my least of my concerns at this moment.

"Yo, Erwin so what's the plan?" Levi asked as he entered the room. Seeing him enter I closed the book I was writing in and rose from my chair as I stared at him. "Its time to take back Wall Maria." I replied as I wore my Survey Corps jacket and walked out the door.

"Got it, Commander." Levi said before following behind me. 'Things are progressing as usual but also somewhat differently.' I thought as I walked through the halls with Levi following close behind me.

Just as in the original Keith Shadis stepped down as Survey Corps Commander and I had taken his place, but Grisha on the other hand was still alive, and he would be pivotal to my plans. A few minutes later Levi and I exited the building and rode on our horses, it was time to meet the Attack Titan Grisha Jaeger.

"So where are we headed to?" Levi inquired with a blank expression. "We're going to meet a very knowledgeable man." I answered as we rode through the streets, eventually we came upon a small house outside of which a family of 4 were chatting together.

"Its you!" The young boy shouted as he ran towards us, hearing this the rest of the family swiftly shifted their gaze towards us. "Hello there, I am Erwin Smith, and this is my comrade Levi." I introduced us before getting off my horse.

Hearing this Grisha had an odd expression but Carla, Mikasa, and Eren all had smiled on their faces. "Thank you for saving my life Sir." Carla said as a knowing expression immediately dawned on Grisha's face.

"Don't worry I was just doing my job, on the other hand, sorry for being abrupt but I'd like to speak privately with your husband if possible." I replied while quickly getting to the point, time was of the essence.

"Oh, I have no problem with that, what about you Grisha?" Carla said as she turned towards her husband, he was a decently tall man with neatly parted black hair and a thin beard and moustache, his round glasses gave him a semblance of intelligence along with his sharp grey eyes.

"I have no issues with that either, please come inside we can talk privately there." Grisha voiced as he led us inside, but when I meant private, I meant private so I immediately told Levi to stay behind before entering the house along with Grisha.

"So what would you like to discuss with me Mr. Erwin Smith?" Grisha asked as sat face to face on a wooden table. "Well its nothing much, before that lets talk about you, Mr. Grisha Jaeger, you're an outstanding citizen and doctor, a great family man but looking into you, your origins are a bit odd having been found wandering outside by my predecessor Keith Shadis." I stated as I watched for his reaction.

Throughout the conversation Grisha's face turned bleaker and bleaker, till eventually he had a very disturbed expression on his face. Seeing him nervous I quickly got up from my seat before continuing my speech.

"Isn't it odd, extremely odd? I mean the only way to get outside the walls is if you're one of the Survey Corps and even then you'll probably die to titans, but you were completely fine, one could even call it a miracle." I continued as we locked eyes.

"What are you trying to say?" Grisha asked as he seemed to be reaching for a knife. "Don't worry, what I am trying to say is simply that I know 'who' you are, and you are the key to saving the Eldians." I answered with the best sentence I could structure at the time.

Hearing this Grisha dropped the knife, before getting up and walking backwards, clearly in shock. "Y-You know about the outside world?" He replied in disbelief.

"Yes, I do know because I am the 13th Commander of the Survey Corps Erwin Smith the man who will free Eldia." I declared as I stretched out my right arm. "Now will you help me out Attack Titan Grisha Jaeger." I continued gambling it all on that Grisha wouldn't freak out right now and kill me.
