1 Luis Wilson

[And that's how I met your mother!] the voice on the radio said.

A blonde-haired young man named Luis Wilson was eating breakfast with his little sister— Rui, while the songs played on the stereo speaker.

The food on the table was more than what one would eat at a party, but that was the everyday thing for someone such as Luis.

He was born as a son of the wealthiest businessmen in the country and had everything one ever wanted. Money, brains, looks, and a beautiful girlfriend— excluding a little sister who was annoying, according to him.

Maids were lined up behind Luis as they waited for him to finish his drink. When he placed the empty glass on the table, one of the maids immediately rushed to fill the glass again.

"That's enough. I have to leave for school," he said as he got up from the chair.

"But young master, your mother has strictly advised her to make sure that you—"

"But she is not here," Luis interjected. "You don't have to do everything as she says, at least, not when she is not around."

"Young master!" A maid rushed down the stairs with a school bag in her hand and gave it to Luis.

"Thank you."

Luis walked around the table and smacked Rui on the head, who was enjoying her breakfast while listening to songs.

"Why would you do that?!" she yelled.

"You are not focusing on eating. You were late for school yesterday too."

"I hope Mia dumps you!" she cursed.

Luis' face twitched as he walked away, but he didn't leave before turning off the speakers. There was no way he was forgiving her for what she said.

Rui grabbed a boiled egg from the plate and threw it at Luis, but he caught it without even looking at it.

"This has become normal. Only an idiot would fall for such petty—"

PATP!

The moment Luis grabbed the egg, Rui immediately threw another one, and it hit him on the back of his head.

"...."

Luis quietly walked out the door of the mansion and made his way to the gate.

"Young master!" a male voice called out to him.

SIGH!

Luis turned around and looked at an old man wearing a butler uniform.

"What is it, Sebastian?" Luis asked calmly.

"Allow me to drop you at the school."

Sebastian was a trained bodyguard of Luis, who was also his butler and driver.

"I am good. I will walk to school with Mia," Luis politely refused.

"But your father will get angry if he learns that you walked to the school!"

"Uhh…" Luis let out a short sigh and pondered for an excuse before saying, "Rui's driver didn't come today, right?"

"Yes, he is on leave."

"Then go drop her off at the school."

"But what about you?"

"I am fine with walking. I will get to spend more time with Mia."

"We can pick her up from her house like we used to do in middle school," Sebastian suggested.

"Sebastian." Luis looked into Sebestian's eyes and asked, "How much time does it take to reach the school from Mia's house in a car?"

"Around ten minutes."

"And how much if I walk?"

"Depending on how fast you walk, it could take twenty to twenty-five minutes," Sebastian answered.

Luis handed the boiled egg to Sebestian that he had caught earlier and said, "Egg-zactly."

"Hmm?"

Luis waved his hand and walked away after saying, "Okay, I am leaving."

"..."

Sebastian watched Luis leave and then looked at the egg in his hand.

After walking for a few minutes, Luis reached his girlfriend's house and rang the doorbell.

"I am here," a soft feminine voice uttered from the side.

Luis turned around to see his girlfriend, Mia, standing at the gate.

"How did you get there?"

Mia pointed her gaze at the dog house and said, "I was patting the dog."

"Well, let's go." Luis looked at the time and said, "We are on time today."

After walking for a few minutes, Mia finally broke her silence and asked, "What's with the dark circles under your eyes? Were you studying till late at night?"

"I was doing something far more important than that," Luis responded with a straight face.

"Oh? You were helping your father out with some paperwork?" she asked curiously.

"No. I was playing this new game I found in my old collection," he said with a serious look on his face.

"..." Mia squinted her eyes and raised her brows after hearing that. She was at a loss for her words and didn't know what to say.

Typically, one would say, 'you should focus on your study,' but Luis was the topper even after that.

SIGH!

"I honestly expected you were doing something important."

"What do you mean? Playing games is important too, you know? I can give you an hour-long lecture about mental health right now."

"The same lecture that I gave you last week?" she asked with a judging look on her face.

"Oh, I wasn't paying attention to that." Luis hugged Mia from behind and said, "You look so hot when you are angry, so all my attention was on you at that time."

Mia shrugged her shoulders and said, "Get off me! We are in public!"

Luis' gaze fell on a beetle that was turned over to its back and was unable to move except flap its wings.

"..."

He immediately took out his wallet and grabbed a bill from it.

"Hold the wallet for me."

He rushed to the beetle and used the bill to carry the beetle. He dropped it on the ledge of the wall and returned to Mia.

SIGH!

When Luis looked at Mia, he found her smirking happily at him.

"What's with that face?" he asked.

"You are so kind!"

"Not really."

"You are. You hate insects, yet you helped that beetle."

"I don't hate them. I am afraid of them."

"That's even better… or worse. And you still helped it. If that's not kindness, I don't know what is."

Luis lowered his gaze and uttered, "That beetle hadn't done anything wrong to me, so I helped it. The same goes for any living being. Obviously, if someone tries to hurt me or harm my loved ones, I am not going to sit and watch."

Mia felt that she made the mood awkward, so she decided to switch the topic back to the game.

"What type of game were you playing?"

"An adult harem fantasy visual novel," he responded with a poker face.

"... I shouldn't have asked that."

"No, but seriously. That game was amazing, unlike any other games I have played in the past."

"You say that every time you play a new game."

"That game was one hundred and sixty-nine gigs!"

"Isn't that normal for the games to be that big?" Mia asked with a confused look on her face.

"Yeah, but not for a visual novel. They don't need that many resources or assets," Luis calmly exclaimed.

"Is that so?"

"And that game had a total of sixty routes. Can you believe it?!"

"I have no knowledge about all this, so it's a waste to explain that to me."

"I played the shortest route, which was sixteen hours long! I even skipped most of the dialogues. And the route I played was the 'relationship' route which only focused on the relationship of the main character with the girls in his harem," Luis stated excitedly.

"You mean you only played it for the H-scenes, am I right?" she asked with a knowing look on her face.

"What happened to 'I have no knowledge about all this' from a while ago?"

"So?" She ignored what Luis said and asked, "What's so special about that game?"

"The game was massive, and not only in its size, but the world in the game too. There was kingdom building, an academy, and stuff. And the plot twist at the start was mind-blowing!

"What? Everyone died?"

"That's not a plot twist! That's bullshit! And even if there was such a route, the game would end if the main character dies," Luis remarked.

"Main character… huh? They have it easy. They get everything. The girls, the power, the plot armor, and whatnot. They also get a happy ending, but what about the other characters who suffered?" Mia asked in a disdainful tone.

"Well… then they would be the main character. That reminds me, the side character in that game was so pitiable. What was his name again…. uhh… Loid! Yes." Luis looked up at the sky and continued, "He was true cannon fodder, used as a stepping stone for the main character to make him look good.

Later in the story, the side character lost everything. Even the girl he loved was in love with the main character. It was kind of sad, but it is what it is."

Luis shrugged his shoulders and said, "Ain't nobody got time for a side character. The game is about the main character, who is the prince. Not some cannon fodder born in a village.

Now, let me talk about the plot twist." After a brief pause, he said, "At first, when the word setting was introduced, it seemed like a classic fantasy world, but then there was a twist that changed everything."

"What?"

"There was an apocalypse right as the game started. Magic and monsters were introduced, dungeons and dragons too. As I said previously, this game was immense and focused on many things. I will play the other routes and focus more on world-building next time.

I basically know nothing about the game except the few main girls who joined the main character's harem. I have limited knowledge, and I am truly excited to learn more."

"You just spoiled most of the plot of that game, you know?"

"No, I didn't. And first of all, you are the one who asked. And second of all, it's not like you are going to play it."

"True."

Mia glanced at Luis from the corner of her eyes and asked, "Just curious, would you get yourself a harem if I allow you to?"

Luis pondered for a while and asked, "This is a trick question, isn't it? I am familiar with them by now."

"It's not." Mia turned to Luis and asserted, "I want your honest answer."

"Do you promise you wouldn't do anything to me?"

"I won't."

He shrugged and said, "I wouldn't have a harem. I mean, you are hard for me to handle, so I can't imagine handing a harem. Sure it might be fun at times, but when it really comes to handling the, I—"

Luis stopped when he received a penetrating glare from Mia.

"You promised you wouldn't do anything."

After walking for a while, they reached the school on time.

Time passed, and the study hours ended. It was evening, and all the students, as well as some of the faculties, had already left the school. But Luis and Mia didn't.

They were alone in the library, waiting for Sebastian to pick them up.

"How much more time will it take?" Mia asked impatiently. She was hugging Luis' arm like never before.

"I just got a reply from Sebastian, and he said he picked up Rui from her school a while ago, and he will be here soon," Luis calmly responded.

"Should we wait at the gate?"

"Actually…" Luis got up and said, "I want to go take a leak. I have been holding it for the entire day, and Sebastian just said he would be here at any minute, so I will be right back."

"Oh?"

"Unless you want to come with me." He kissed her and whispered, "We can have a quickie like the last time."

Mia let go of Luis' hand and said, "I will be waiting for you at the school gate then."

"Alright."

Luis quickly rushed to the lavatory and took a leak.

PHEW!

"That felt good," he muttered as he zipped his pants.

He was about to leave, but he heard a voice from one of the closed cubicles.

"Someone there?" the voice asked.

Luis looked below the doors of the cubicles and saw a pair of shoes in one.

"What's up?" Luis asked calmly.

"I am out of toilet paper. Can you grab me one from the other cubicle?" the voice asked.

"Oh, sure."

Luis was close to the door, so he walked to the nearest cubicle to grab the toilet paper. He opened the cubicle's door and—

STAB!

As soon as he opened the door, the person hiding inside stabbed Luis with a dagger.

"...!"

STAB! STAB! STAB! STAB!

There was no one in the cubicle, or so Luis had thought as he didn't see any shoes, but he was mistaken.

The attacker was wearing a mask, so Luis couldn't see his face, but he was wearing a school uniform.

Luis was stabbed dozens of times mercilessly as the blood gushed out of every hole in his body. However, Luis didn't give up.

He managed to push the attacker away and rushed to the door, only to realize it was locked.

His blood formed a red river as he covered his wounds with his hands, but it was too late. He had already lost most of his blood.

He turned out to see the doors of the other cubicle opening, and several masked students walked out of it.

He was doomed no matter which cubicle he chose.

'This is… bad…'

Luis was in pain, but he didn't care about that. His vision was getting blurry, but that didn't bother him. There was only one thing he was worried about, and it was Mia.

COUGH! COUGH!

Luis coughed blood from his mouth as he managed to speak, "Who… sent… you?"

"...." The masked students stayed silent as they watched Luis bleeding to death.

"I will… give you… hundred times the… money…"

One of the students stepped forward and grabbed Luis' phone out of his pocket so he couldn't contact anyone.

Meanwhile, Mia was waiting for Luis at the school gate.

A minute later, she saw a familiar car coming her way. She waited for the car to stop near her and then approached it.

The window of the car rolled down as the voice followed, "Miss Mia? Where is Master Luis?"

"He went to relieve himself," Mia replied with a sigh.

She looked at the back seat and saw Rui sitting there with an annoyed look on her face.

Mia waved at her and asked, "Hey Rui, how are you doing?"

"Where is my stupid brother?"

"He should be here by now."

They waited for five minutes, but Luis never returned.

Mia got anxious and rushed back into the school to check up on Luis.

Sebastian got out of the car after saying, "Miss Rui, I will be back in a minute."

He then rushed after Mia and reached in front of the lavatory. Of course, the door was closed.

Mia tried to push open it, but it didn't budge. She banged on the door and yelled, "Luis! I know you are in there! Open the door! It's not funny!"

Sebastian tried to analyze the situation to make the best out of it, but he lost all his senses when he saw a trail of blood coming out from beneath the door.

"Step back… Miss Mia…"

Sebastian gulped down anxiously and kicked the door open.

"...!" Mia covered her mouth after seeing the floor smeared with fresh blood.

"Stay here."

Sebastian walked in and stepped on something. When he looked at his feet, he saw Luis' phone, which was shattered beyond repair.

The blood led to the last cubicle in the corner, but its door was closed.

With each step Sebestian took, his heartbeat got faster. He reached the last cubicle and tried to open it, but it was locked from the inside.

"..." Sebastian took out his gun from his pocket and climbed on top to see what was inside, only to fall back on his steps. His gun dropped to the ground from what he saw.

Luis' body was chopped and tossed inside.
