37 Chapter 36

Talonflame quickly closes in and hits the protect, but to the surprise of Brendan, Flannery and the crowd, the protect cracks, then after a second breaks. Swamper ready for another head-on collusion, uses waterfall making a huge dust cloud covering half of the battlefield.

The crowd gasped, everyone holding their breaths right now, waiting for the dust cloud to dissipate all eyes on the field right now.

The dust cloud disappeared slowly, making the tension rise every second the crowd looks. Both trainers right now can be seen holding their breaths waiting for the results on the fight, but on one of the trainers a smirk can be seen after a few seconds.

At this point in time two shadows can be seen in the dust cloud. Brendan seeing one of the shadows, changes his smirk to a full-on Grin.

"Swampert!" The Pokemon roars, making every one take a breath. The crowd losing silence, all start to clap and cheer loudly after that amazing Pokemonb battle between both of these trainers.

"Lets go Swampert!" Brendan shouts as his Swampert starts walking back to him. Brendan seeing this, quickly, runs up to the huge Pokemon and gives him a hug.

Brendan gave Swampert a berry beforehand for the fight and told Swampert to save it until he needs it. Swampert now in a 50/50 situation attacking head-on, uses his oran berry. (This is hinted at in the last chapter when I say Swampert is given a berry before gym fights. but obviously no one would think of it).

* * * 20 minutes later * * *

"Brendan where are you headed to now?" The curious May asks her boyfriend. Brendan hearing this responds while eating a burger.

"Im heading to Fortree City!" Brendan says in an exaggerated tone. "It's a whole side of the region to explore, i'm planning on catching a few Pokemon and training up my current ones before battling any gyms as the gym leaders will be using Pokemon from their main teams from now on". Brendan says thoughtfully, knowing how monstrous some gym leaders Pokemon are from their main team. May, hearing this nods.

"I'm heading for Mauville City for my fifth badge so I guess I gotta train my Pokemon a bit before". May says in a depressed tone, not wanting to train as it takes too much effort. Brendan seeing this, chuckles seeing May a bit down, needing to train.

"Im gonna be heading out now May i'll see you in Ever Grande or maybe in another city!" May hear this nods and starts to part ways with Brendan. 'Today was quite the roller coaster with May's confession and the gym battle'. Brendan says exasperated.

Brendan now makes his way back to the Pokecentre to rest up, and ends up sleeping, making it the next day!

* * * The next day * * *

Brendan now making his way back to Mauville, decides to have some trainer fights with Aron to get him a little more experience with understanding his commands and battling. On the way back he encounters Dom and tells him about his gym badge and how strong his Blaziken is now.

A few more battles with Aron later, Aron evolves into a Lairon, increasing its strength by a decent margin. Aron now Lairon now getting a little cocky with its new body, tries to defy Brendan just to get his metal *** handed back to him, making him a bit more on the humble side.

More Pokemon battles and a few more hours of using his bicycle Brendan arrives in Mauville town. 'May shouldn't be here yet she should be training her Pokemon'. Brendan says to himself, thinking May wasn't here.

Brendan thinking this immediately heads to the new route 118. On route 118 there's way more grasslands than before making it more of an open area. Brendan now walking through the area for the first time, grasps the beauty of this place. Multiple Pokemon playing in harmony near the ponds. People interacting with each other and huge forests more prominent in the farther parts of the route.

On the lake to the right of route 118 can be seen multiple people surfing on Pokemon. These Pokemon mostly being Mantines, Tentacruel and the occasional Laprass by a seemingly strong trainer. Brendan seeing this new terrain gets excited wanting to catch a new Pokemon. Brendan now looming over the grass, sees a Pokemon in the distance.
