"Haaa… this is really annoying," of all monsters, why did it have to be a basilisk?

Remembering all of the characteristics of a basilisk made me worry even more. Just thinking about it targeting me made me shiver because of fear and anxiety.

"Damn!!!", this shitty and crappy second life of mine is really full of hardships and ordeals that were mandated by who-knows-who from who-knows-where.

'Ssssshhhhh'

"Tsk!! It's here", the damned snake is here and I haven't finished my preparation at all!! Then, all I need to do for now was to run away from it. I can't let it sense my signature.

After running away from it for about an hour, I arrived at the entrance of some cave. This is the first time I've been here after getting stuck in circles for three hours back there.

"Hmmm… I need someplace safe to stay first, then I'll have to make a plan on how to counter that damned snake.", as I entered the cave, I could see some writings on the wall.

"Runic?", Runic Language, this language existed a long time ago and the last people who used this were all gone during the purge ten years ago but… why is it here?

The more I looked at the cave walls the more fascinated I become at the sight of the runic language in front of my eyes. These words… are there still people who could decipher these in the empire? I doubt that, ever since after the purge humanity's development and strength had stagnated, after all, most of the pillars for development died during that turbulent times.

As I go further inside the cave, I found a strange room-like space that used a boulder as a door. I moved the boulder a little bit to the side to create an opening that would allow me to get inside the space. After getting inside, there I could see a bed and some things that humans used.

"What?!", I was so shocked that I didn't know how to react. The place that I am currently seeing right now was like a residential area where a single person could live.

"It's as if time had stopped here…", I could see a single-sized bed, there were also some books from unknown authors, some eating utensils, and other things that were important for survival.

'Ding!'

"Chronos? The Greek God of time?", did Chronos live here? Hahahaha… that would be impossible right? There's no way, right? I created this world in a novel and I know for sure that I never created these… then why?

The more I thought that I somehow understand the system, the more lost I feel after knowing that I actually don't understand anything about it, and right now, proves that point.

"Haaa… this shit really hit me in the back. Now, I'm more curious about who this Chronos is and what the hell was this extra character named Krayonne Reid.", I know that I reincarnated here even before I remembered my previous life's memories but somehow… there was still something mysterious about this extra.

If I can't find an answer to that question, then all I have to do right now was to seek more about it… but the only clue I've got was that old tattered shirt and that ancient pocket watch.

"Well… I think I better think of a way out from this situation first before I look for a trace of my family.", then, I began to look around the room.

'Tsk! There's a lot of dust here… huh?', I suddenly halted my steps as I noticed something near the bed. It was a small wooden box with a strange carving.

"A clue on Chronos?", this small wooden box contained a clue on Chronos?

As I was about to open the box, a tremendous tremor broke out shaking the entire cave.

"What's happening now…", then there I saw two big reptilian eyes looking at me.

"Shit!!! He's here… that bastard's here!!!", it was then that I realized that I took too much time getting fascinated by the runic language on the cave's walls and the hidden room inside that I forgot that I'm currently doing a quest.

'Idiot! Stupid!! How could you forget?!!', I said as I blamed myself while running away again from that damned snake.

"Huff… huff… huff…", did I manage to escape… ahhhhhhhh!!!

What the hell? What is this place? This… it looks like a graveyard?

"There's a lot of skeletons here…", oh my gosh!!! Just what kind of illusion was this place or was it really an illusion this time?

'Ding!'

"WHAT?!!", my eyes grew wide upon seeing the system's message this time. I couldn't believe it… it's not real right?

The place I'm currently at right now is like a tunnel that I often see in the movies and tunnels were interconnected to different areas and have entrances and exits.

Since this is that damned snake's lair, that means that there is an exit that was connected to the outside of this cave.

'Ssssshhhh…'

Using this skill requires a lot of mana and the more mana the User had, the more bigger and destructive the skill is. This can only be used once a month.

"Tsk! Looking at it can make me go mad but what can I do, it already happened might as well let go of it. No use getting angry at it…", I said as I looked at the pitiful stats that I have.

Now, what could I use here? I only have a level 3 swordsmanship and if I use this along with level 2 wind slash… maybe at least, I could inflict some damage. Then after doing that for about 20 times, maybe I can use berserker as an agro and then wind slash.

Now that I think of it, what was the weakness of basilisks again?

Remembering the contents of the novel where the MC hunted a basilisk together with his colleagues, there it said that a basilisk's weakness was an overwhelming heat – a heat comparable to that of an incinerator.

But… where would I find such thing in here and I don't know any fire spell… wait!
