Reincarnated as an Extra

In life, countless things might happen to someone at some point in their lives. Some people may call it fate, destiny, opportunity, or a turning point but for me, it wasn’t one of those. Fate? Nah, everything about my life was already trash to begin so to hell with fate right? Destiny? Who’s name was that? If destiny was real then how come nothing changed? Opportunity? What the hell was that? If there was an opportunity presented in front of me then I’ve grabbed it a long time ago. Turning point? To hell with turning points, everything about me had always been in twists and turns like I’m always riding a roller coaster of life. So, what’s the point of these things for me?

Chapter 15

The current me was frozen beside the sink due to the excessive shock that I received. Even if I asked this question over and over again, I think I won't be able to find an answer at all, and thinking about it would only result in me suffering mental damage even more.

So, instead of mulling over it, I decided to just ignore what happened.

"It seems like I won't have a normal life at all… but, I am still determined to do as how I please.", I said with much resolve.

Forgetting everything as if making it non-existent was my forte, and just like that I finally manage to forget that whole crazy scenario before me.

I went out of the bathroom and walked in the direction of my bed. Then, I took my shirt that was lying atop my bed and wore it but I suddenly noticed something on my body…

"A tattoo?", I look at the mark on the left side abdomen. No… it looks more like a scar?

Hmmm… maybe not? A birthmark perhaps?

"Why didn't I notice this before?", I said as I caress the surface of the mark.

Yep! It's really a birthmark maybe I didn't notice it before because of my build.

"This mark looks familiar somehow… where have I seen this again?", the birthmark on my left abdomen that looked like a crow felt familiar, though I don't remember where I have seen it before but I'm pretty sure that I have seen this image.

"Oh well… if I forgot about it that only means it's not important since important things are bound to be remembered and noted", then I hurriedly put on the shirt and grabbed my hoodie along with my backpack.

I went to the foyer and took my only pair of sneakers.

"Haa… just look how poor I was", I lamented while putting on my sneakers.

When I was about to leave the apartment where I've stayed for more than two years since I came to this city, I suddenly remembered the memento that was left by my parents.

"Right, I almost forgot that", I quickly went back inside and opened the last drawer that haven't been opened for almost two years. Inside it, I saw the memento that was left with me. It was a pocket watch.

Or to be more precise, it was an old pocket watch that looks about a hundred years old. This item was the only thing I had in me back when I first arrived at the orphanage. According to the doctors that checked me at that time, I suffered too many injuries and was in between a life and death situation.

After I woke up, I couldn't even remember anything at all and that was the beginning of the me that I am now. The doctors only identified my name when they saw the hem of my shirt since there was a name embroidered there.

Then, the pocket watch that was hanging on my neck when I first arrived at the hospital was taken away so that they could trace my parents since those times were too hectic and chaotic at the same time.

Ten years ago… that was the most dreadful event in the history of the world. The incident that cost too many lives to be sacrificed and the extinction of humanity's hope – The Purge.

It was during that chaotic time that I was brought into the hospital, so the doctors believe that I was at least a son of a hero who had sacrificed his life for peace. After two weeks of recuperation, a doctor brought me to the orphanage just across the hospital. They also returned the pocket watch that they took away.

Staying at the orphanage made me forget some of the pain but just after five months, the investigation about the children that were rescued during the Purge had finished. The investigators called out each family of the children to have them returned but in the end, I was left out.

They told me that they haven't found any trace left of the family I came from so in the end, I stayed in the orphanage until I was twelve years old.

In this world, a twelve-year-old kid was already eligible to take the association's test to know if you have been awakened. Then, as if a miracle I passed the test but unfortunately I was ranked at the bottom – F-rank hunter.

After knowing that I became a hunter, the orphanage director told me that I no longer need their protection and should be able to fare on my own. With nothing much on me, I went off on a journey all by myself until I made it to the capital city.

Here I saw many things that I haven't seen in my life and experienced all the hardships that I haven't known since I was under the care of the orphanage before.

I joined the mercenaries' group named Cloud, they mostly took field missions since they were composed of only one D-ranked hunter, two E-ranked hunters, and four F-ranked hunters. When I joined them, an F-ranked, they made me their baggage carrier… ahem… ahem… I mean, their porter.

Then for two years, I and the rest of the group went hunting in the field until that very unfortunate incident where all of my team members died on the mission and only I was left out alive.

"Well, my life was filled with too many uneventful incidents, and me being admitted to Pentagon may have been a fluke but I know for sure that everything happens for a reason…", just thinking about all the things that happened since five days ago made me think that there might just be something going on here.

I don't know what it is but I have a huge suspicion regarding all of these changes.

"I might have been the writer of this mess-up novel but I'm pretty sure that a huge storm will blow out in the empire in the future."
